CHAPTER EIGHT
Alpha Alessandro's pov
After interrogating Rayne, I was sure about what I wanted to do with her but first I must confirm if that was what she wanted for herself. Her story was pathetic. I knew her parents well to know their spirit wouldn’t rest well until justice was served for their daughter. Hearing her story gave me a hinge on the nature of her wolf. Her parents were royalties as well although sharing a different region with us. Their pack was stationed southward after the Mediterranean Sea close to Menton and the Savoie province.
The treaty established by the Lycan brothers wiped them off of Italy’s region, and allegiance was formed between them and the France brotherhood under Spanish-German rule. Alpha Maddox Frenchman's third ancestral lineage was the one given charge of that province and in the aftermath, his kinship took reign over the province as did other kingdoms. History also has it that the land was the most blessed amongst every werewolf pack. The land enjoyed a special relationship with the moon goddess and as such, more other blessings were deposited on the soil.
Even with these findings and explanation, nothing calls the shots for Rayne’s abnormal physiques. What special relationship did she have with the goddess to be given such a special appearance? Her father was an Alpha and her mother a Hybrid, correct. I’d seen wolves with bi-bloodline but none of them had half of what Rayne had. She was a special wolf I could tell even without the history book pointing it out which made me wonder why Alpha Gilbert was so cruel to her. Nobody messes with such treasury.
After the interrogation was over, I had a room prepared for her in my Condo and the packhouse. I wanted to have her around me until I was sure about her. Dinner had been served and she was in her room freshening up when the maid came to my study to announce my mother’s presence.
"What is this all about, Alec? What are you doing living with a Rouge?" Mother questioned, her voice raising an octave.
"She isn’t a Rogue yet," I replied in a duh tone.
“You don’t know that!” She was accused so dramatically.
“I do… I’m not stupid mother”
"Then I must be the stupid one, huh?”
“What the f**k mum?” I asked, scrutinizing her with my eyes. I turned back to the book on my desk shortly afterward.
She tapped on my back to get my full attention.
“You were basically seen flirting with a rogue. Someone you don't know. How f…" I didn't let her finish her statement and cut her short.
"I've seen the girl, and she's no threat. She'd be settling into the pack house with the others."
Mother lets out a wheezing sound—Raises her head, and puts her palm on her waist.
"What's so funny?" I questioned her.
"You are. Alessandro Mark Infantino, eighteenth ruler of the brown wolf kingdom and sixteenth sitter on the brown wolf’s royal seat is so funny. You think I don't already know she now has a room in the packhouse?" she stated as though it would come as a shock to me. When I was much younger, I wondered how she knew things I kept a secret without me telling her, but not anymore. My mother would effortlessly tell my kid sister and me our dreams without us saying a word about it to anyone. Hell, she even foresaw my father’s death.
I rolled my eyes at her dramatic stance.
"Alec, I consulted the Oracle."
"And?" I asked with an arched eyebrow.
"Nothing… they said she is a mystery; a prophecy come true of some sort" she finally took her seat beside me.
"And you want me to let go of such treasure?" I asked, adjusting to look at her face.
"What do you plan on doing with her then? I saw the girl, she looked so divine. I don’t want you toying with the goddess’s property. You must not attract a curse on us” mother said worriedly. “I’m scared Mark, I don’t want anything bad happening to you or Stephanie. You both are all I have” my mother concluded in a whimper.
“Nothing bad will happen to us mother. Nothing bad at all. My instinct says I should keep her. My wolf says the same thing too. I’m well aware of the cause of your worry but believe me, Gilberto knows nothing about her; else he wouldn’t have let her go. He would never! She is a ball of mystery, yes. But she isn’t a bad mystery, mum. I’m far off from knowing the entire truth about her but I want to know it all. I want to help her find the truth”
“Is that all you want to do with her?” mother asked me a suggestive smile playing on her face.
“For starters, yes!” I said smiling.
“Then you have my support. Whatever I must do, just say the words”
“Thank you mother,” I said and hugged her. After the death of my father, my mother had been so protective of my sister and I. She never mentioned it, but she partially blamed herself for the death of my father. She even swore to the corpse of my father to protect my sister and I no matter what. She said she’d die before any harm comes to us. Even as an Alpha she is interfering with my business and although I understand her, it is time that I have things done my way!
As I was still thinking, a very strong but sweet smell attacked my nose. Rayne's smell was different and much more intoxicating than the other wolves here, so I knew it was her before she made an appearance.
"Hi," she said so gently, that it sounded like the lyrics of a lullaby.
"Hi," I responded to her heartily.
"Can I join you?" She asked, lurking around the doorstep.
“Of course”
She took tentative steps until she reached my desk. She stood hesitantly until I asked her to sit.
"Thank you," she mumbled as she took her seat.
"You are welcome. So tell me, how have you been treated in this place? I hope everyone is friendly to you?"
"Yeah, they’ve been super friendly —there are really lovely people here. Almost everyone I've come across has been good to me," she smiled.
"No caps?"
"Yeah, no caps." her smile widened to reveal her set of small-sized, dazzling perfect teeth.
"Can I ask a question which is more of a favor than it is a question?" she said looking squarely in my eyes.
"Sure. Shoot" my gaze on hers didn’t wander.
"Can you tell me everything I need to know? Can you teach me to be strong and how to fight and stand my ground?"
"Well, I can. But it depends." Now I was intrigued. Her eyes held determination as she spoke and I wondered what it was that made her come up with such a request. Not like I had a different intention for her though.
"Depends on what?"
"On the reason why you need to learn all this. For what purpose, do you need me to help you?"
"Revenge" …"Revenge," she repeated icily, tasting her word in her mouth.
“Revenge?” I asked.
"Yeah, revenge," she replied.
"Fine then, since you asked so nicely, I won't only teach you this thing. I will help you and guide you through all the procedures. I'll make you a weapon of revenge. But you must give me something in return"
“What must I offer?”
