Chapter 30 - Taken

Baden was shaking with anger, he had trapped Gemma within her on mind. She was reliving the torture these men inflicted on her time and time again. He had been so desperate to see what was inside her mind, but now he wished he hadn’t. He still couldn’t block out her cries or screams, he would have to live with them for the rest of his life. The fear and helplessness she felt, she was all alone and locked away.

Baden shut off all mind links as Ian’s voice started in his head. No doubt a warning to stop this public display. These two men would die here and now. They would be an example for every pack, every wolf. Nobody could mess with his mate or his laws and live.

One step at a time Baden walked to the edge of the stage before dropping of the edging continuing seamlessly to where the men lay. Their bodies still laid flat on the floor tensed and stiff. Before Baden had even reached down to them Robert rushed out confessing his crimes, mumbling them into the red carpet. His body shook with tremors as his fear leaked into the air like water flowing from a tap. His cries full of weakness dampening the carpet with his snot and tears as he begged for his life and forgiveness.

The crowd remained deathly silent as Kai who appeared more then calm forced himself into a kneeling position, before he made another move to get back on his feet. Sweat poured off his head as he looked up at Baden failing to get off his knees. Looking straight into Baden’s red eyes he smiled, “even if you kill me, she and I both know. She will always be my little girl, I will stay with her forever. We have made many memories together.”

The sounds of bones snapping echoed through the spaces as Baden unleashed his wolf. A feral uncontrolled growl followed with gasps from onlookers as they all backed far away as possible from the two men. Baden’s pitch black wolf stalked the short distance left between them.

The ball had barely begun and everyone was sent home, they all definitely learnt what would happen if you disobeyed Pack Master or the new queen. Leaving, most people had been covered in some amount of blood. Just like the hall that was now painted red in the blood of Kai and Robert. They were made an example of to say the least. One they didn’t survive and couldn’t escape.

In front of everyone, Baden literally ripped out their throats after making them confess their crimes before all in attendance. f*****g breeders, Baden didn’t think that pack was so as far gone as it was. He had heard rumours, but thought that is what they were, just rumours. God if he had checked it earlier, he could have met Gemma years before now. He could have saved her and other females from years of abuse and neglect.

In his next breath Baden had ordered Alex forward appointing him as new Alpha of Rocky Mountain’s Pack. Partly as he was a strong leader and viable option as he had grown up in the pack, while clearly opposing how it was currently run. Though also to send him a distance away from Gemma. Sharing her of late with so many people didn’t sit well with Baden. His possessiveness of her was growing stronger with every day that passed. He needed her right now, he needed to be next to her, touching and holding her.

The ball having been ended early Baden finally released the mind link wall between him and the pack. He couldn’t sense Gemma though, he couldn’t sense or speak to her. Not completely surprised as she might be asleep or be still stuck in the agonising loop. Next, he tried to link to Zac, but nothing. “Ian find Zac and Gem now!”. Baden had a horrible feeling in the pit of his stomach, he should have left this to Ian. He should have stayed with Gemma, she needed him and he sent her away with Zac.

Mind linking Derick, “Derick, tell me Gemma and Zac are with you.”

Derick’s distressed voice responded immediately, but from behind him. “I have been trying to mind link you for ages. Luna and Zac are gone. I was meeting them in the garden, but they were not there..” Hesitation filled Derick’s face, “there was only a pool of blood, a lot of blood.”

Baden’s stomach twisted into knots as he sprinted past Derick into the garden. The full moon lit up the sky and the court yard alike as he continued to search. Baden’s body turned cold the second he saw it. A large pool of blood covered the floor by a bench, but there were no bodies. No trail of blood, no smears. It’s like they just vanished. Ian’s voice filtered through his mind, “Baden, ..Luna and Zac they are gone, nobody has seen them. I can’t link Zac, but I can feel his bond to the pack so he has to be unconscious.”

Baden’s mind darkened as the blood drained from his face. Taken, Gemma and Zac had been taken.
