Vern's feet kept getting heavier as he keeps on running without a proper location on mind. He doesn't even care where he ended up with, as long as he gets away with his captors, it's fine. To be honest, he doesn't even know why he was getting chased by those guys. As soon as they saw him they started chasing him. Of course, even though Vern was very confused, he didn't hesitate to run. Well, what should you do when someone is chasing you? Of course, it's to f*cking run! Even if you don't know why you're getting chased down, don't think about anything! Just run! And those a*sholes even have a f*cking gun in them! Who wouldn't be scared if you're getting chased by someone with a gun? Vern didn't manage to see a hump on his way, causing him to be tripped by that. His feet are so heavy he doesn't have any energy to stand up and run anymore. As he keeps on chasing his breath and trying to stand up once again, his captors finally caught up with him. They also managed to catch their breath before finally dealing with Vern. "You sure know how to run!" The guy in front said with a strained voice. He looked so angry that the vein in his temple bulged, Vern won't be surprised if he pops it. "Deal with him now! We can't afford to have some witness." Vern gets alarmed when he heard the guy continued. What?! What do they mean by 'deal with him?!' Although Vern looks calm outside but internally, he started panicking. His anxiety intensified when he saw the other guy raised his gun and pointed it at him. His eyes almost popped out from his eye sockets when he saw the gun raised towards him, "Wait! What are guys going to do?!" Vern asked, even though it's useless because he knows what they're going to do to him. "I don't have anything against you, just consider this as your bad luck." The guy in front said as he gestured for the guy, who has a gun, to shoot. Vern was about to say something, but his voice got buried by the sound of the gun. After some time he felt pain in his chest. That bastard really shot him in his heart. If I became a ghost, I will haunt you until you die! Just you wait! Vern tried to stop the bleeding using both of his hands but it's no use, the warm blood keeps on gushing out of his chest. And his breath is getting shallow as the second turns to minutes. When his captors saw him bleeding they didn't spared him any attention anymore and started to walk away from him. Vern's body is getting sluggish as he lay down on the concrete floor. He looks at the gift in his hands as he feels his breath fading every second. Ah, f**k! I guess this is it. At least wait for me to give this gift before you kill me. Y'all are so impatient. "Advance Happy birthday, Nina." Vern whispered as he finally succumbed to the darkness. But contrary to his expectation, he didn't see any lights guiding him to heaven, or wherever his destination is. Instead, he was welcomed by the exquisite and luxurious sight in front of him. "Young Master!" The guy looking like some kind of butler said when Vern's eyes met him. "Are you feeling comfortable, Young Master?" The butler guy asked again. But Vern was in so much confusion. He didn't even bothered answering him. All he can think of was, what on earth is going on right now? Am I a ghost now? Should I haunt those bastards now? But if he's a ghost, then how can this guy see him? "Young Master? Are you feeling uncomfortable right now?" The butler guy started to become worried when he saw his charge looking around with so much confusion in his eyes. "I- I'm fine." Vern managed to say with so much difficulty. He saw the room that he was in, coated with so much extravagance he doesn't know if he's really allowed to stay in this room. "Young Master has been unconscious for 3 days because of your flu. The physician said that it's just the normal flu, but he advised the Duke to let you rest for a while." The butler guy explained as he handed him a cup of water. "You seemed confused, are you sure you're not feeling uncomfortable, Young master?" The butler guy inquired once again. "I- yeah, I'm okay. It's just—" Vern wonders how he should ask for this guy's name. He sounds like he knows him so well. He don't really know if they have a good relationship, and this is actually the first time he saw this guy. And the way this guy calls him is bothering him so much, who's your Young Master?! Why do you keep calling me Young Master?! I'm not a Young Master! "You've been calling me Young Master for a while now. But I'm not a young master. I don't even know you." Vern said as he takes a sip on the cup that the butler guy hand to him. "What do you mean, Young Master?" The butler guy looked so shocked when he heard Vern's words. "I don't know you? I've been meaning to ask you what's your name is, but it seems like you know me very well? Are we friends?" He wondered as he tilted his head to the side. He's really thinking about this guy's identity. Moreover, it seems like he's in a different world? Surely, this isn't the same world he grew up in. Vern was so sure about that. Although he grew up in an orphanage he also knew some kind of transmigration novel. He knows about them when he's reading it to the other kids in the orphanage. The butler guy opens and closed his mouth like a fish trying to catch its breath for being out of the water for a long time. "I'm the butler who's assigned to you, My name is Nero," Nero said with so much difficulty, as he can't believe that his young master forgot about him. "Nero, you have a nice name," Vern said as he smiled at Nero. Nero was taken aback by this seemingly innocent smile. This is the first time he saw his Young Master smile without any worries. In a way, it seemed refreshing, because his Young Master has a taciturn personality. Given his status as the Eldest son of the Hanes Household, he holds a lot of responsibility on his shoulder, even though he's not the heir to the Duchy.
