Aztec Empire. 1428. In the woods at the darkest of nights, a lady in her early twenties was seen running. She was on a white apparel that covered her entire body. A clothe was tied to her face that allowed only her eyes to be revealed. Chasing her were tons of armed men holding sticks with blazing fire on them. They shot arrows at her, but she escaped every arrow that was shot to her. Definitely she was a trained warrior or maybe something more powerful to possess such skills. Running out of breaths, she leaned against a tree and held her tommy groaning in pain. Her attackers voices drew closer and their lamp fires became brighter. She tried to move but the pain was unbearable. Suddenly a strong arm pulled her into the thick darkness and pushed her back against a tree. "Shhhh!!" The voice came harshly. To stop her squealing, he covered her mouth with his hand. "Jupiter..." Hearing her name and the familiar voice, she stopped struggling to free herself from the supposed enemy. "It's me, Emilio." "Emilio!" She whisper screamed burying her face in his chest sniffing repeatedly as tears welled her eyes. "I'm scared." "It's okay, I'm here now." He said as he wrapped her in his embrace while their attackers by-passed them. * * * Present Day. 2019 New York. Light came piercing through the transparent curtains. The alarm began ringing. "bbrrrrng! it's morning! wake up! wake up!" The little toy that sat on the drawer kept saying repeatedly. "Shut up! I know, just let me sleep a little longer." It was obvious she wasn't halfway out of dreamland. The alarm obediently stopped ringing while she rolled over covering herself with the blanket properly. Not until she heard a voice whisper to her ears. "it's morning, munchkin." "No it's not!" She squealed covering her face with the blanket. " Awwwn! Look at you sleepyhead. Get up, get up." Her mom said as she pulled the sluggish teenager out of bed "Sapphire, you've had enough sleep through out your vacation. Now its time for school." Her dad said. "Your dad is right. The most intelligent student in school should have been putting on her shoes by now." Her mother added. "Mr Davis please tell.... your wife, Mrs Brenda to.... please let.......m uo che..." Sapphire spoke still full of sleep as her eyes closed. Sleep talking was one of her habits, and sometimes she said senseless things. "I could help you take your bath." Brenda's voice came ringing. Sapphire's eyes shone. "No!!" She yelled in irritation and loosed herself off her mom's grip. "Mom, you forget I'm now a teenager, I'm going sixteen this year. I'm no longer the two year old Sapphire!" "Yes you are, my little girl." Brenda said as she nuzzled on Sapphire's cheek. "Ewww! I'll rather go take my bath now!" Sapphire said and walked into the bathroom. "Now that's the school spirit!" Davis cupped his mouth with his hands to make it sound louder while he stood up from Sapphire's bed and walked to his wife. "Mrs Davis." He called as he wrapped his hands around his wife's shoulder. ..."I'm hungry." "Awwwn look at you cute little thing." She said as she pulled her husband's nose softly. "Breakfast will be...ready SOON!!" Brenda's pitch increased "What is it?" "The food is on fire!!" She loosed herself off Davis grip and rushed out. "Be careful on the stairs honey!" Davis called out This was one of Brenda's habits, she always left food on fire. Davis smiled to himself. Some husbands would have found this ruthless of their wives, but Davis found it cute especially the look on her face each time it happens. He walked out of Sapphire's room to go ensure Brenda was okay. Sapphire rinsed her mouth off the toothpaste, and revealed her teeth to the mirror. Her dentition was just perfect. After observing how sparkly they were, satisfied, she took off her clothes, walked under the shower and turned it on. The shower beat her tender body, as she hummed a song, enjoying the chilling sensation, she got out of the water. "My name is Sapphire Davis. I know my parents read my line earlier by telling you that, I apologise on their behalf, sorry for their big mouth. As I was saying, I'm the only child of my parents..." She thought as she turned off the shower, pulled down the towel from the door and wrapped her wet body, stepping out of the bathroom. "Being the only child, my parents spoil me way too much". Sapphire stepped into her bedroom. It didn't look like every average teenage girl's room that would probably be covered in pink. Her room was painted in white, some pictures of Alessia Cara, Demi Lovato, Sam Smith, Justin Bieber and Beyonce were plastered to the wall, definitely she was a fan. There were lots of giant teddy bears on her bed, all in white colour. It was obvious white was her colour. Her room was beautifully furnished, it was like a palace, of course it worths the only child of Mr and Mrs Davis. Sapphire stood before her wardrobe which had a mirror, she observed herself in the mirror before she opened her wardrobe which revealed her cloths that were all in white. She picked a hanger and walked into her change room. Coming out, she was putting on white pants, a singlet that was properly tucked into her pants, a relatively short long-sleeved jacket and a silver Snickers to finish. She walked to her drawer and opened it, picking a CD plate. Boldly written on the CD was the word "UNCLE." She slot in the CD into the disc player, in a few seconds, rock beat could be heard following, the song. "The day is here again, the sun is rising Above the blue sky giving the rays of hope The wind is blowing the trees are dancing to a hidden melody the one inside my heart oh oh oh......." Sapphire walked to her window and pushed it open breathing in the cool breeze that swept her face. She looked down to the vase that sat by her window admiring the beautiful flowers that grew in them and inhaled the sweet scent it gave off. Immediately, she swayed her hands towards her bathroom. Surprisingly, the door swung open! she turned on the tap from where she stood and controlled the water. It danced on the air towards her and she splashed the water on the flower plant and the flowers bloomed except for one. "It's okay Blaze, I'll will give you a helping hand." she spoke to the flower. It was obvious every flower from her plant had a name. Immediately she twirled her hand around Blaze and golden flakes poured from her hand into Blaze, Blaze bloomed. "That's better Blaze" Sapphire smiled and spinned towards her bed, jumping on it. She controlled her hair comb that was on top her drawer into her hands, and began lib singing. "You shine brighter than the sun Your laugh make me stop what I do just to watch. God bless the day you were born And I'm sure blessed to be priviledged to watch you grow My angel my angel ...." Definitely she gave off the aura of a pop star. Her room was in a total mess. One after the other, she put everything in their place using her powers. Afterwards, she jumped down from her bed, and swayed her hands towards it. Her giant teddy bears and pillows dangled in the air while her blanket straightened out. Done, they fell back to the bed. The door opened. "Hey honey...." Sapphire turned around in shock. "Hey!... Dad!" Mr. Davis looked around and saw the room was spotless. "That was pretty fast." "Yes Dad, you know.... I need to be in school early, so I did the right thing.... by cleaning my room pretty fast." She tried hard not to stutter too much, her dad shouldn't find anything fishy. "That's cool. um... Breakfast is ready." Davis said and closed the door. Sapphire heaved a sigh of relief. The door opened again. "Bring your hair brush along. "Sure!" Sapphire smiled as her dad closed the door. She looked at the hair brush she had in her hand all along. It was obvious her dad didn't see it. If he did, sure he would have asked why she had it. Her dad has been the one who got her hair done since she was a kid. He thought his daughter was too beautiful so in other to save her from the bad boys, he always styled her hair to cover almost half of her face. And Sapphire thought it was just perfect. She turned off the music, left her room and headed downstairs. "Come sit honey." Davis tapped the chair before the mirror gesturing for her to sit. Sapphire sat. He brushed her hair. Sapphire's hair was so obedient, though her hair was quite long, it wasn't long her hair straightened out. It totally covered her left eye. "Perfect! Oh, I should also protect that deep blue eye of yours." Davis said and wore his daughter a pair of glasses. "All done. You're good to go girl!" "Thanks Dad." "Anything for my princess." "Breakfast table people." Brenda reminded clinking her spoon to the glass. "Yap!" Sapphire went over to the table and sat on her usual chair. She inhaled the sweet aroma of the food. "Hmmm Mama's food, always spectacular. I can feel my tommy rumbling." Brenda's cheek flushed red. "What?! You caught your mom right there Sapphire." And Sapphire grinned. "Shhhh bad habit on the table." " Don't mind your daddy." Brenda said filling Sapphire's plate. "Awwwn! look at that hungry eye. She definitely took those blue eyes from me!" Brenda said dropping the plate. "That's a lie!..." Davis said in a mouthful "That's definitely from me!" "No! it's me!" Brenda protested. "There they go again." Sapphire thought A day rarely pass without this happening. They argue petty things about me like; "Sapphire definitely took that proud nose from me." "Sapphire definitely took her dimples from me." "Sapphire laughs just like me!" Sometimes, they even argue about who loves me more. Whenever this happens, they act like kids that are 12. Funny enough, I always get to be the judge. Like right now! "Sapphire, whose eyes did you take?" Brenda asked. "Well..." Sapphire swallowed a ball of food. She calculated her words immediately. "Mom you have an ash colored eye with streaks of black some might even mistake your eye color for blue from afar. But dad definitely has blue eyes. But not to worry, I have your both eyes! I'm blue eyed with streaks of ash! So it is even!" Sapphire tried hard to be fair even if she lied about some facts on the way. "So, back to breakfast?" she asked. " Of course!" Brenda answered satisfied. After their sumptuous meal, Sapphire rushed upstairs to get her school bag and came running downstairs. "Careful there honey." Davis watched Sapphire as she hurried downstairs. Afterwards, he picked his suit from the chair. "Drive safe." Brenda said as she walked to Davis and wrapped her hands around his waist. And Davis planted a kiss on her lips. "I'll drop her off at school and come back to get you. You should be done with all your lady stuff by then." When dad says "Lady Stuff," He meant make over. Mom could be careless about everything but her face. She could spend hours applying her makeup. Though she goes light, it still keeps her charming. Dad loved this part of her most, his wife sure knows how to take care of herself. "Thank you for always being so considerate." She said softly and planted a kiss on his lips. Davis smiled a little satisfied this could give him just enough energy to start a day. All the while, Sapphire had her face squeezed as she watched her parents being so sweet. "Can we go now dad?" "Ugghh sure hon." He was a little disappointed, he wanted this moment to last a little longer. He was loosed off his wife's grip. "Come on." Davis stretched out his arms and placed them around Sapphire's shoulders and walked out of the door with Brenda following. A G- Wagon stood on their driveway. Davis opened the door for Sapphire to enter the car. After she carefully entered, he closed the car door and turned around to the drivers seat, entered and closed his car door getting the car started. "Bye Mom!" Sapphire wind down the glass as she stuck her head out waving. "Bye baby! Have a nice day!" Brenda waved and threw her daughter a thousand kisses as the car drove off. She smiled to herself as she watched the car drive away. Sapphire always thought of herself as a grown up but a while ago, she just acted like a kid. She thought as she walked back into their humble abode. *
