When Herlin arrived at Robert’s luxurious mansion, she was momentarily awestruck by its grandeur and beauty. Robert was clearly a man of influence—a wealthy figure with a home that resembled a palace. "Your house is incredible, Robert," she whispered in amazement. "This is just one of my homes. You know, I’ve lived in so many houses over the past 1,000 years that I’ve lost track. I own countless assets around the world," Robert replied nonchalantly. Herlin exhaled deeply, reminding herself that the man before her was no ordinary being. "Why do you disguise yourself as a human? What is your purpose?" she asked, her voice steady but curious. "There’s no particular purpose. You’re just too naive about this world, Herlin. The world doesn’t belong solely to humans." Hearing that, Herlin fell silent. "Alright, come inside." From the terrace of the luxurious mansion, several omegas stood waiting, their sharp gazes fixed on Herlin, radiating a hint of hostility. "Rest for now. Don’t leave your room. If you’re not with me, you need to be careful. This isn’t your world," Robert warned. Herlin glanced at Robert. "Is it dangerous for me to be here?" "No, but just do as I say. Rest for now. I need to go to the office." "Office?" "Yes?" "You have a job and an office?" Robert nodded again. "You're really this naive, Herlin," he said with a small smirk. "Who works for you?" "Come to my office another time. But for now, rest," he replied firmly. Herlin had no choice but to follow his advice and retreated to her room to rest. Later that afternoon, Herlin wandered around Robert's luxurious mansion, taking her time to admire the beauty of the garden and occasionally noticing the guards. Before she realized it, she had walked far from the house, past the garden, and encountered a pale-skinned man with striking red eyes. "Hey, what are you doing here? Are you one of Robert's workers too?" The man approached Herlin, his movements deliberate. Herlin grew wary and took a few steps back, her guard up. "You shouldn't be here!" said the pale man, his voice cold as ice. Without warning, he grabbed her and whisked her away at an inhuman speed. This man was Steve, a vampire by blood and Robert's greatest rival. Steve carried Herlin, flying over hills until they stopped at a sturdy wooden cabin deep in the forest. The place was well-lit, likely the hideout of Steve's clan. Thud. Herlin fell to the ground, glaring at the man who had dragged her there. "I've been watching that place. I can smell it—you’re not a werewolf. You’re just a human Robert brought into that house," Steve said coldly. Herlin stood up, her anger bubbling. "Take me back there! Robert must be worried sick looking for me!" "No! Let him come here himself!" Steve snapped, then dragged her once again, pulling her into the vampires' house. Several vampires snarled and attempted to reach her, but the cage kept her safe. Days passed, and at sunset, Herlin heard a commotion outside the house. She was startled when her iron cage was lifted and moved to the front of the house. Like prey being presented, Herlin was offered to a terrifyingly large wolf. As the wolf approached, Herlin screamed hysterically. "Help! Someone save me!" she cried from within the cage. But her screams stopped abruptly when the wolf was suddenly attacked and trapped in another cage. Herlin's heart raced as she caught sight of the wolf’s glowing blue eyes. "Robert!" she shouted. The wolf roared furiously, shattering the trap with sheer force. Several vampires tried to stop the enraged wolf, but this time, the vampires were defeated. Robert shifted back into his human form and unlocked Herlin’s cage, freeing her. "Robert..." Herlin whispered, her voice filled with emotion as she gazed into his eyes. "I told you! Never leave your room!" he snapped angrily. "I’m sorry… Please forgive me," Herlin pleaded, her voice trembling. Without another word, Robert lifted Herlin onto his shoulders, shifted back into his wolf form, and carried her away. They left the place, crossing hills and forests, returning to Robert’s bungalow in the city. "Robert, will you always protect me like this?" Herlin asked, her voice filled with genuine emotion. The man set her down in the garden behind his house and shifted back into his human form. "If it has anything to do with me, of course, I will always come to save you," he replied firmly. Herlin gazed into his eyes, her expression full of love. "And you? Aren’t you afraid of me?" Herlin shook her head quickly. "I’ve been through so many terrifying things in my life. Your presence feels like something new, something different," she explained sincerely. Hearing that, Robert chuckled softly. "It seems like your life before meeting me was pretty miserable," he said with a teasing smile. The two of them burst into carefree laughter, momentarily forgetting their troubles. "Now, go inside! And don’t leave your room until I come for you myself," Robert instructed firmly. "Why do those vampires want to capture you so badly?" Herlin asked. "They’re pathetic fools who don’t know their place. They’re always causing trouble with the werewolves. Those bloodsucking insects have no idea how pitiful they truly are," Robert said with disdain. Herlin listened quietly, then made her way to the room prepared for her by Robert’s omegas in the house.
