A Sudden Start

1050 Words
I woke up, not sure when but everything was quiet, I went to open my windows, this was not a time to be uncertain. After a while I felt the sunlight coming up. I walked to Thorns office and threw open the door, causing a very startled Thorn and his mate to jump in fear. "Thorn, we talk, now." I said. A silent moment was there before his mate left, and to my annoyance his beta came walking in, I'm sure with the morning reports, however I just barked "OUT" to him which made him turn heel and leave the room, closing the door gently behind him. I could tell from the smell Thorn was already unsettled, but last night he made a stand to be my ally, he isn't the one after me, he wasn't part of the trafficking ring either. "You said you'd fight my war by my side right?" I asked "Yes, but.." he stared and I interrupted him "Then get on that clicking machine and make sure the council will meet tomorrow, all the council." He went a little silent, "Shaman, you know there is only 8 of us now right? and Richard will not accept your authority." "He doesn't need to, we meet tomorrow, set it up. Cars and everything, at that human place from last time, tell me when you've got all 8 confirmations." I hurried myself out of Thorn's office, accidentally slamming the door behind me. If I was going to make a war and get revenge for what happened to me, even I would like clear outlines of what would be happening. I cant just go rushing in like some sort of madman and killing packs. I have to have a sort of diplomacy about it. I found myself walking down to the forest's edge, and there he was, I could smell him. "Creature?" A slight gurggle came from him, I walked up to him and held his hoof, he had tried to be a deer i suppose, but the thick air around him never changed. "Creature, I know you're worried but I need you to stay and protect the cottage." Crow caw'd from his shoulder "No, I need you Crow, you're going to be the messenger, youre going to be the one who keeps creature informed, and if something happens to me, Creature you get to follow Crow to whomever is responsible and, well, have some violent fun." Creature made a noise that sounded like a happy squeal from a kid and some sort of demonic laugh together, I have to say it was pretty un-nerving. Creature went and pounded through the forest, I'm hoping on his way home, while Crow took a rest on my shoulder, and after I couldnt hear Creature anymore I turned and walked out of the forest. Walking into the Castle doors, Thorn greeted me and let me know all 8 members would be there. "Shaman do we need more security? what if Richard does something?" He was worried and I understood, but I don't have time to worry right now. "No, it's okay the same 8, no betas, no one else." I felt Thorn shake his head and walk away. I didn't even have time to say anything to him when Lilly came up to me, always with such a warm and bubbly energy. "Shaman!!" she hugged me, I wasn't in the mood for bubbly, but I wasn't going to be a d**k to her. "I'm sorry, I had to tell him, please don't be angry, please?" She was like a child talking to their mom. "Im not angry, I just have things to plan." She squeezed me again and put something in my hand. "I know you like smoking your hookah, but this is like something electrical." She put my finger on the button, its what we call a vape, but now you don't have to set up a hookah every time you smoke, I saw it and thought of you!" She was exited and I tried it, some getting used to but it was a rather wonderful thing that she gave me. "LILLY!" we heard one of the cook staff yelling, and before I could thank her, she bounced off again. I couldn't even tell her I found her mate yet. I walked up to my room, going up each step I smelled blood, but like an animal's blood, like someone had a fresh kill and it was lingering around, I was hurrying up the steps now. Sniffing around, the smell came strongest as I got closer to my door, it smelled like a wolf, but a regular wolf. The smell was so over powering, I couldn't even smell Thorn. Thorn grabbed my arm and yelled, "DONT!" I didn't understand what was going on, I jerked my arm away and Crow pecked Thorn's head as I went through the doors. I was overwhelming, the smell of a freshly killed wolf's blood all over my room. The yell from Thorn and now with a few others who could see into the room were enough to get everyone's attention. A freshly slain wolf was right there in the bed and its blood painted the walls and floor, I felt Thorn's hand grab my arm again as he pulled me out of the room, "WHAT DID YOU DO??" I screamed, not knowing who had killed the wolf. Thorn aggressively pulled at my arm and got me into his office, slamming the door shut to anyone who may have followed us. "What the hell was that?" he asked angrily " What was what?" I asked very angry and confused. "You killed a wolf in MY CASTLE??" his voice escalated. I was furious now how dare he accuse me of killing a wolf ANYWHERE!?! I let my anger get the better of me and landed one very good punch to his chest, slinging him across his desk. "HOW DARE YOU!" I nearly screamed. He stood back up to retaliate, when his door burst open, "SIR A NOTE!" it was one of the guards, not one that I meet personally though. I heard the sound of paper rustling and footsteps while everyone was trying to see what was going on. Thorn read the note, "From your friend, much love."
