Chapter 5 - Witch encounter

1394 Words
Sarah POV After the library incident I go back to my favorite spot near the lake . I am peacefully lying on the grass, gazing up at the orange sky as the sun sets. The warm hues of the sky create a tranquil atmosphere, with gentle breezes rustling the grass. A clear lake nestled in the meadows inside a forest is a serene and picturesque sight to behold. The still waters reflect the lush greenery of the surrounding trees, creating a mirror-like surface that shimmers in the sunlight. The gentle ripples on the surface of the lake add a sense of tranquility to the scene, as if nature itself is whispering a peaceful melody. The meadows that border the lake are dotted with colourful wildflowers, their sweet fragrance mingling with the fresh scent of pine from the nearby forest. Birds chirp melodiously in the trees, adding to the symphony of nature's sounds. The crystal-clear water of the lake is home to various aquatic plants and small fish, adding to the ecosystem's diversity. Overall, this hidden gem in the heart of the forest is a true oasis of beauty and calm. It's a moment of quiet reflection and appreciation for the beauty of nature. Just i was enjoying the tranquility my thoughts go about my Mate My cheeks turned pink, and I could imagine a young man who is handsome. “I hope my mate will love me like my father loves my mother and also respects the bond that I share with my family”. I sat up throwing stones in the lake thinking what it would be like living with my mate, leaving my family behind. Even though I am an adopted daughter , I was treated just like their own. My parents were never biased, neither my brothers. I am their little princess. Also, god - mother mentioned I would be unlocking my abilities as aoon i am mated. I wonder what they are. "I told you we are special" Saaly said, stirring. If I could see her, she would be rolling on the grass with her tummy exposed and salivating. She looks so funny. I chukled at her, imagining. "Stop with that. Like our God-Mother said, I am just waiting for my mate. I can sense we will be finding him real soon. I hope his wolf will be tall and muscular and strong", She said purring and wagging her tail. "Don't get your hopes up, Saaly. We still have a few weeks till our 18th birthday. We will know then. How ever our mate is, tall or strong, we will accept him as long as he is good to us and our family.. Okay?" "Yes, we will. I know we are special. Just trust me, Our mate will be special too" She purred again. "Okay okay. We are special. He is special. Everything is good in paradise." "Stop it. Stop with your pessimistic attitude. Try being positive like me." Saaly snapped. "Okay, Cool. Big dreams for a big wolf" Saaly just growled at my teasing, and we headed back home with our little charade. Leena’s POV As we sat there thinking about our own problems, Gennie sighed and asked if I had seen or known anything apart from clues regarding the missing beings and rogue sightings. I was not sure if I have to discuss this and put my burden on her. A few days ago, I had a dream where I saw people walking in black cloaks, faces covered. Everything was blurry and not clear. They had axes in their hands, pale faces and furious eyes. It looked like a death parade. Everything was red, the path, their hands. I have been terrified ever since. I have a feeling something big is going to happen. Something far more than just a war. Some evil force for sure. But I am not ready to share this information with anyone. Only me and my coven leader knows this. It’s best that I don’t tell Gennie or anyone else. “No Gennie, I haven’t seen or known anything, it’s just a bunch of clues. I and our investigating team think that somebody who is power hungry is behind this. They might be looking for a white witch for some kind of seance. But worry not, everything is under control.” Soon after this, Gennie offered me lunch and we started eating. There was awkward silence throughout. Once done, we sat and the sofa and i began. “Well, it’s been a while since I saw your kids, Michel and Magnus. How are they doing with their combat skills? Have they found their mates yet?" I said after sometime. "OH yeah, they have been quite good at it under the coaching of their father. No doubt they will be the best warriors and might even take over training one day." Gennie replied. "I know you did not call me just to ask about coven matters and talk about your son's achievement. Spill. What is it ?" She sighed. "It's about Sarah" Gennie said. "Oh right. Sarah! The prophecy child!" I exclaimed. How is she? I haven't seen her since, you know." "Oh don't worry. She has known she is adopted for a long time now." I was shocked. "Okay.... How did she take the news?" "Pretty well, actually. She is more matured to her age. She even keeps joking about it" "Ahhh... Thats a relief" I was wondering how it would impact a child to know her parents aren't her parents after all. "Ok tell me what about her? She is fine, right?" I asked. "She is fine physically. But something strange happened yesterday. I wanted to discuss with you about the matter. Last night she came home running and crying stating she would hurt people if she wasn't in control. She is a kind hearted. She wouldn't even hurt a fly. She is five. She is always loving, even to animals. The wild animals are her friends. How can such a girl hurt anyone? " Gennie asked, holding my hands with expectations. I started laughing, a whole heated laugh. Shaking my head at her silliness. When I looked at her again , she was serious. i could see her eyes filled with tears. I calmed down. "Tell me what happened exactly?" "Water reacts to her emotions." "I am going to need more information about that." "Okay.... Yesterday, after combat training with her dad, she went for sword practice near the lake at the center of the forest. It seemed that while practicing, her strong emotion was attracting water towards her. There were movements. Once she noticed it, she was anxious. Water moves on the intensity of her emotions,,, I think. Maybe it's like waves. It may get bigger as her emotion intensifies. Oh, I don't know. I haven't seen them. It doesn't make the slightest of sense to me. That's why i called you here. I need your help to decode it." she explained. "Hmmm ..... Water moves. Interesting" We were silent for quite a time. Gennie was waiting for my comments with anticipation. "I have heard about some hybrids being able to manipulate elements. But they need to be from high-ranking witches bloodline. But we sure know Sarah isn't a hybrid. But as she is a descendent of your beloved goddess Salene, she could be part god (or Angel) perhaps. She is unlocking her powers as she grows." "But she was scared about it like hurting people, instead of being happy about acquiring powers." she said. "True.. She might hurt people if she does not control it. Now, more than ever, she will be watched if other beings get to know about her incredible power. She will be wanted by good and bad beings just to become powerful. U guys need to be careful." "I understand. She truly will become a target if others get to know about her powers" Just as we were trying to understand, there was the doorbell ringing. Gennie went to open the door, and it was none other than Sarah. She was slightly surprised by my presence. "Mom, Who is this?. She doesn't look like a ware-wolf", Sarah asked. "Thats Leena. My cousin. You are right. She isn't a wharewolf but a high-ranking Witch." Then she stared at me like something she hadn't seen before.
