Chapter 2 - Training

1057 Words
Sarah POV Present day. Since my 12th birthday, I have been training hard everyday. I am 17 almost 18 years now. In the beginning, I couldn’t react fast due to baby fat still in me. I wasn't flexible enough. I started of with running and jogging to lose my fat. Then with squats and skipping , I started toning my muscles. With this, my reflexes improved and i could see much of my fat converted into muscles. Soon after improving my muscle strength, we started with intensive training. My dad started training me how to fight and defend myself. At first, I couldn’t land or block a hit. With time, I was able to master the art of defending and yet need to work on my attacking skills. My family was astonished to learn that I was able to do it faster than my brothers even though i was younger tham them. Soon we moved to advanced training with weapons. I found my dad using spears and showing some moves. It looked complicated but he did it with ease. “That was just a simple move. You cannot use this move if you want to go against your opponent. You will be taken in a blink and then regret it later. First, you will have to learn counter moves for this particular move if you want to take your opponent down.” Dad spoke clearly, looking at all of us. “The most important thing during the fight is offence and defence . It isn’t the technique that we use. There are hundreds of ways to use a weapon . Those techniques are just good to read and practice. But in a real fight all that matters is your own reflex, instincts and alertness. They become your ultimate weapon. The only way one can win a fight is by the perfect blend of actions and your own thoughts”. My brothers and I looked at each other and nodded our heads in understanding. We took a few hours in practicing and went back home exhausted. Mom was baking cookies and the smell from the kitchen was amazing. All of us raced to the kitchen for our share and enjoyed dinner and went to bed exhausted. Next day, dad announced a track race. "Each of you will be tied tire to your waist and you have to round the track thirty times" dad announced. All of us started running, i came in third, and my brothers , Michel came first and magnus second. Us three siblingd bagged that first three positions. The trio was most powerful put together. Soon after the race, I thought of practicing sword fight. I took my favorite sword and went near the lake and started practicing few moves as illustrated in the book I am referring to. Sword training is a disciplined practice that involves learning the techniques and skills necessary to wield a sword effectively. It typically includes physical conditioning, footwork, proper grip and stance, as well as various offensive and defensive maneuvers. We training often start with basic drills and gradually progress to more advanced techniques, such as parrying, thrusting, and striking and I was already at the advanced level. As I was swinging my sword forward and the water in the lake started moving, which did not make sense to me . I looked around to check if anybody was invading my space. Nobody was there . I raised my nose and sniffed to catch their scent, but nothing came out of it. I ignored and continued practicing. At first it was all normal, but after a few times of swinging my sword , it started again. I continued swinging , observing the water and yes, they were moving. i was shocked and stared at the lake and felt terrified and the water started moving like a storm . I realized the movement is based on my emotions. Calmer my emotions are , the water is easy to control and if my emotions turns on the uglier side it changes to storm and so its driven by the emotions. With this new information, I started running toward the library looking for the book on controlling water elements. I could not find anything related to this information in the library. I sat down on one the benches exhausted after the training and running around. I was massaging my temples when a felt a breeze of air with a sweet scent. I turned towards the direction of the scent and I could hear a faint voice. the voice was soothing and inviting . I closed my eyes and was listening to this sweet and faint voice. It has familiar touch to it. It felt like my own mother was singing a lullaby and putting me to sleep. The voice started getting fainter. I had tears in my like i was loosing something precious to me as the voice became fainter. And finally i could no longer hear the voice and it was breaking my heart. Unable to bear it anymore , i left the library and ran towards my house. I ran straight into my mother Gneviev's hands. And i told her about everything that had happened, from training to the lake and library . After sometimes i felt calm and went to sleep with the same exhaustion. I open my eyes and find that i am walking through the forest, but it want like anything that i have seen. i walk to the tree line towards the lake . It was as if there was diamond dust sitting on the surface and the moon light was reflected in every direction. Then i see a glowing flaunt figure standing at the centre of the lake whispering softly and giggling at me. It felt like as she she was calling me. It was the same voice that i heard in the library. As i stepped into the water, everything darkened and was back in my room again. There was this mistry that was surrounding me and telling me to learn more about the water abilities. I was determined more than ever to find what this is about. With the strong determination I had a smile on my face and decided to have an adventurous day tomorrow and I went back to bed.
