Chapter one - The Beach
It was 30degrees and the younger members of the pack, were playing at the beach trying to stay cool. It was the first time that the Alfa and Luna had allowed their son James to take the younger members of the pack grounds. He had just turned 18 and was very aware of who his destined mate was. She however, was oblivious. Being 2 months of her 18th birthday, she had not yet got her wolf.
James wolf Brad pushed James to find any excuse to spend time close to Helen and often made him follow her around the pack house. Seeing her in the bikini top and skirt meant that Brad spent much of the day running around howling in James head driving him to distraction. James was trying to keep control of Brad. He could not shift as the beach was full of humans. James wanted to growl at any other wolf who went near Helen but tried his best to suppress his possessive nature as Helen did not yet know he was her mate and he did not want to upset her and risk rejection.
Helen ran after the Volleyball that bounced uncontrollably up the beach to an empty end of the cove. As she got closer she noticed a small basket. At a distance it looked like someone's picnic but something drew her to it. She moved up to it looking around to see if anyone was swimming or close by who would claim it. There was no one. Helen looked in the basket and lifted up the blanket. She was shocked to see a small Pup lying in it. It whimpered and fidgeted but looked very small and not like other Pups she had seen back at the pack house.
Jame's eyes had not left Helen as she had gone after the ball and he could see her recoil in shock when she looked in the basket and charged up the beach after her. he joined her and looked to see what was going on "what should we do?" Helen asked James thought for a moment, "lets ask some of the pack to ask around if anyone has seen anyone leave it here" Pausing he linked some of the other older members to organize the pups to ask the beach goers. He turned to Helen "lets take her back to the pack, if no one claims her we will take her back to the pack hospital and as my parents what to do" Helen looked down at the Pup "I think she is hungry, she shouldn't leave it too long before we head back" she whispered James nodded. As they walked back to the pack camp on the beach they could see members move amoughst the humans asking if anyone knew anything about the basket at the end of the beach.
Quickly the pack members returned with no information, James gave the order to pack up their little camp and get back on the pack bus as soon as possible. The winding lanes back to the Pack house frustrated James as the humans insisted on driving really slowly.
