I still can't believe that grandpa is dead. I mean, he waited all these years to see me before he departed.

I suddenly began to feel guilty for it. I blamed and cursed myself for his death. I stayed in his room all night, even when his body had been buried in his tomb. I dared not go there.

"Grandpa, I've been an unfilial daughter to you" I cried out, my fingers tight on his sheets. Grandpa had laid here for so many years until his death.

All this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for my selfishness. Running away with Lucas. I wish I could turn back the hands of time, I really do.

No matter how much I cried, grandpa isn't coming back. I tried to console myself in so many ways…

I was resting my head near the bed, I've had nothing to eat all day and I didn't even have an appetite. I felt a little dizzy, my head felt like it's going to explode.

A sudden knock on the door made me jerk up. "Come in" I gave permission and he walked inside the room.

It was butler James, his face looked a little cold, as if something had happened. He came to me and helped me up from the floor.

"What's going on, James?" I asked him, the looks on his face gave him away so he couldn't deny it to me.

"Luna, there's a problem" he said,

"What is it?" I wiped off the tears on my face as I asked him.

"Silver-Claw pack sent their representative to tell us that the marriage is called off. Alpha Ryker is also on his way here" Butler James announced.

I lowered my head shamefully, what was I expecting? I already got married once and I'm also pregnant. How do I even expect Alpha Ryker to still get married to me in this situation?

I raised my head up and gave butler James a brief smile. "It's fine" I said,

He shook his head.. "No it isn't fine. Luna, our Alpha, protected Alpha Ryker's father with his own life. This marriage alliance is a compensation to us and we cannot let it slide. Your grandfather also wanted you to marry him.. He feels Alpha Ryker is the perfect person to protect you. Especially in these times. " Butler James explained.

"We cannot keep the pack waiting too. We haven't had a strong Alpha for six good years"

I was confused, I didn't even know what to say. I know that my father lost his life in the first place because of the Silver-Claw pack but I didn't think that it was that serious to get me a marriage alliance.

I never wanted to marry Alpha Ryker which was why I eloped with Lucas before.

I had no choice, if this is what's going to make grandpa happy, then I'll do it.

I breathed Deeply, bracing myself. "Did you say that he is on his way?" I asked.

"Yes, he is"

"Prepare a feast. We will welcome my soon-to-be husband properly"

I had a runway created, I didn't want to waste any time with this. I have to refuse the marriage before anything else happens.

While my mate is out there and ready to get claimed by me, I wouldn't want to waste that time for anything in the world.

According to Adams, my mate is also in this country.

It would be like killing two birds with one stone, rejecting the arranged marriage and claiming my mate. I have to return with my mate under no circumstances.

I swiped through the screen on my tablet, reading the news on the internet. My cousin, Alpha Lucas, is busy making waves. He divorced his Luna just yesterday and already announced his marriage to another She-wolf.

How the hell does he even get the chance to do that? It wasn't my business but I know that it was wrong.

His Luna… My voice trailed up as I wanted to speak. I recalled a month ago when Lucas and I made a deal with her.

We met at the bar and got drunk, Lucas bet with me to sleep with his Luna and get her pregnant. He wanted to use that to reject her.

He had always wanted to reject her. I accepted the deal and I did it, I regretted it afterwards. I'm not sure she got pregnant, but I tried my best. We Made a bet so I didn't use any protection.

Apparently, I don't think he broke up with her for that reason. Maybe, indeed, she was barren and never conceived for him or me.

Lucas is such a bastard. Poor Luna, she must be so heartbroken now, getting jilted by Lucas and now he is marrying her friend.

I tried to recall how she looked. Lucas made me do it in the dark so I didn't see her face. She wasn't aware that it was a different person, she assumed it was Lucas because they were supposed to meet that night. It was my first time meeting her. I never attended their mating ceremony so I never got to meet her in person and awake.

We arrived at the Red-Fang pack that evening, I asked Adams to prepare a hotel suite for me to lodge. I would go see Luna, break the news to her and come back.

I will also stay here until I finally find my mate and return with her.

I had so many things to do in this place..

After resting for a few minutes, I asked Adams to take me to the pack house. I didn't want to waste any time with this, as they said that "delay is dangerous"

I do not want them to think that I've come to get married to their Luna.

The ride took about thirty minutes from the hotel. We reached the pack house which was located in a huge villa in the middle of the city..

Alpha Gerald really had good eyes for a location to build his pack. But it wasn't a safe place. It is the center for attack.

I went inside the pack house, accompanied by Adams and other bodyguards from mine and the Red-Fang pack. They seemed to be prepared to meet me.

I was led by the guards to the dining room. I didn't come here to wine and dine, I came here for business. But they seemed to have prepared a feast to welcome me.

I sat down, near the dining table and waited for the luna to come out so we could talk. As I watched the movements ongoing, I'm very sure that they were off to fetch her.

There was a strange feeling I had in my chest since I've come here.. A very strange- yet familiar feeling.

I held my chest, and Adams noticed. "Alpha, are you alright?" He asked.

"Yes, I'm fine" I answered him through a mind link.

"I think my mate is here," I explained to him. My nose already caught her scent and the bond is acting up.

Adams took an excuse and stood up. He was determined to go find my mate, with that, I might not even have to reject the marriage anymore and just leave with my mate right away.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, Alpha Ryker" we heard a solid feminine voice speak from the staircase.

I looked up immediately, Adams was yet to leave when she arrived. I was stunned to see who she is.

It was her, my mate! My wolf grew excited upon her sight and my head started to hurt. I tried to look fine so she wouldn't notice.

I wonder why she didn't feel the bond between us. Maybe it was because she had just faced a rejection.

How could she be my mate? The same Luna who's been used and abandoned by another Alpha! No! The moon goddess must be playing tricks on me.

Adams noticed my discomfort so he sent me a mind link and I told him that she is my mate.

I stared at the beautiful woman heading down the stairs while her eyes never left me. She was dressed in a perfectly fitted black gown, her hair was brushing against her lower back. Her make up was simple, but sweet. Her lips were like cherry blossoms.

My mate looked exceptional! My wolf wBted us to claim her immediately but the situation isn't that simple.

First, she's been married once and dumped. Now, she becomes my mate; maybe I am truly cursed. This must be a joke.

She took her seat facing me, I didn't speak first, I had nothing to say to her. I was supposed to reject this woman and take my mate but she turned out to be both.

"I'm sorry for not coming out on time Alpha Ryker, are you angry?" She asked.

I didn't know how my face looked right now but anger wasn't the right word.

What I'm feeling right now is confusion and desperation.

She sat comfortably and pointed to the table. "Why don't we eat first and discuss later?" She suggested.

I could really use some space right now but it seemed like I won't be getting any until this gets done with.

I looked at Adams, waiting for him to say something. He was also left in a dumb state. What would he say? She is already my mate and he knew how desperately I needed her.

He dared not say for me to go on with the rejection so he rather kept quiet and let me make.my decision.

"Can I be excused for a moment?" I finally summoned the courage to ask.

"It's fine," she said politely.

I left with Adams to discuss.

It was him, Alpha Ryker of Silver-Claw pack. When we met earlier at the airport, something still felt odd with him. I never thought that it was because I've been bonded to him..

He looked younger than he was portrayed. They told me he was an old Haggard and abusive Alpha. I had been deceived. I didn't want to get married to some old Alpha, it was my major fear for refusing in the first place

I never thought that the opposite was the case. Alpha Ryker is young, not really young but he isn't as old as they said he was.

I couldn't stop thinking about what his response might be after we talked. I wasn't going to waste this opportunity.

I need to fulfill grandpa's last wish.

He was taking so long so I decided to go and find him.

I stood up and left the dining room. Asked a few maids and they gave me his whereabouts. He is in the garden with his Beta discussing.

I arrived there after about ten minutes, Alpha Ryker was discussing with his Beta as I'd expected. I cleared my throat, interrupting their conversation which I didn't bother to eavesdrop on.

"I'm sorry for interrupting you, Alpha Ryker." I apologized.

"It's fine.. Is there anything else?" He asked his Beta and he shook his head. Alpha Ryker dismissed his Beta so we could discuss.

"I'm sorry, but I'd like us to talk about this marriage alliance. I know that it's been so many years since the arrangements were made and many things had happened after that but, I still need to explain some things to you alpha" my fingers were clenched tightly on my dress as I spoke.

I was scared of being rejected by him.

"What are you suggesting, Luna Elisabeth?"

"That we get married. I will do whatever you want me to do alpha Ryker. I know I've messed up in the past, you must've heard the information about my separation from my former husband. We could still work something out" I said desperately.

Alpha Ryker focused his interest on my statements. "So, what do you suggest I do? You've been married and I've been single for so many years, waiting to fulfill this alliance." He said,

Although I didn't believe that this alliance kept him single, I just had to let him take the moment. The whole place was left in a long silence. I didn't even know what to say to him anymore.

"What do you have to offer me, Luna?"

"My pack, I will offer my pack to you in exchange for you to protect us. My grandfather somehow believes that you are liable to protect his pack until his death."

Alpha Ryker looked at me coldly. He leaned near me. "Is it worth it?" He asked in a calm tone.

"I guess so." My reply came out fast.

Ryker smiled at me. "Your pack is a great deal so I'll accept it Luna. Please note that there's no going back in this deal"

"There isn't. As long as you give us your protection, we will gladly follow your leadership"
