Miller went into the Deputy Assistant Director’s office and apologized for his unruly attitude the other day and also requested for the way about Hardin whom he was sure was still in Eureka.
The DAD accepted his apology and gave him the address of the hotel where Hardin and Matilda were lodged.
Miller drove as fast as he could into the Jackson House Hotel where Hardin and Matilda were lodged in. He showed the receptionist an identification card which was given to him by the DAD before asking them to inform Hardin about his presence. The receptionist called Hardin through the landline and delivered the message. Miller had to wait impatiently for a few more minutes before a positive reply after the call.
“To what do I owe this unpleasant visit?” Hardin asked on getting to the receptionist post where Miller was standing.
“Let’s get a seat.” Miller gestured to a seat and acted as politely as possible.
On sitting down, Miller curiously asked, “You believed me right, that explains why you had her gadgets bugged with tracking devices."
“She found them out anyway, so what’s the use of bringing it up now.” Hardin replied in a cold tone.
“They must have been more to it right, I mean, it’s so unlikely of you to believe just my words talk more of acting upon them.” Miller continued.
The irritated Hardin lamented,” And who said I was acting on your words?”
Matilda who was coming down stairs from her room bumped into them. She paused for a while before she finally spoke up.
“Wow, this is the rarest scene I’ve seen in such a long while.”
Miller ignored her and continued his conversation with Hardin looking more serious than he ever was. “Ever encountered her before now?” He asked curiously.
“I think this conversation is getting longer than expected.” Hardin stated before he stood up to leave.
Matilda, who had an idea on what they might be talking about and was also curious about the case, held onto Hardin’s hand and begged him to tell them more about it, which Hardin agreed to.
Hardin sighed. “My team and I have been on her case for almost two years now but we could barely come up with anything incriminating enough to send her behind bars.”
“Wow, I knew something was off with the kind of tension in the office.” Miller bragged.
“That’s why you should have caught her properly this time.” Hardin sneered.
“Am sure someone must be behind her. Who is it?” Miller asked directing his question to Hardin.
“He is way off your league Mr Wit.....Smith.” Hardin stood up to leave for his room.
"It would be nicer if you just called me by my first name." Miller shouted after him
"Tsk..........he always complains with every name." Hardin muttered to himself as he walked up the stairs back to his room.
Miller sat there for some time with Matilda and had deep thoughts about this mysterious lady he just encountered.
“Guess I'm going to have some fun here.” Miller said as he stood up to leave.
“Take care of yourself dear.” He said, tapping Matilda on her shoulder.
“You too.” She replied.
ROSEWOOD EUREKA
“How did you pull that off?" Ashley asked with absolute curiosity as he sat beside Davina on the dining table for lunch.
Davina smiled sheepishly at him "Well, at first sight I knew he was either a cop or an agent so I had to play smart and ignore him. In that process I quickly texted you to change the location of the Arms which you did. I then hurriedly left the bar so as to get him even more suspicious of me then I misled him back to the warehouse after taking him round town. I took a longer route so as to provide enough time for you and Aaron to flew with the goods."
"You've always been the smartest one afterall." Ashley complimented. "But this time, you have a bruised face." He joked.
"My pleasure." Davina said smiling. "He came out quite strong, he's not like anything I've fought with." She added.
"But you know it's even, right? You almost got us into trouble and you got us out. Even so, you did a great job there." Ashley said.
"I know right?" Davina replied, munching the last piece of her meat balls.
"Let go and have some fun." Ashley said, trying to cheer her up to which she nodded in agreement.
Davina and Ashley finished with their lunch within a few minutes and got prepared for their trip. Davina wore a black ragged trousers and Navy blue coloured crop top with dark shade spectacles while Ashley was in an all black trousers and hoodie. They both left the house in their black SUV with the intention of coming back home late.
BAYVIEW EUREKA
Miller on the other hand arrived home very late after his exploration and was totally stressed out. He proceeded to his room to freshen up and go straight to bed but was in the bathroom when it dawned on him that he didn't make use of his key or the passcode in opening the door while coming in today, he must have been too stressed out to notice or remember earlier. He rushed out of the bathroom with just a towel wrapped around his waist and went into the kitchen to get a knife just in case there was an intruder in his house. He heard some foot step in one of the rooms and he tiptoed to the room to find out who it might be. He was about to use the knife on the person when he realized it was his brother who was there.
"Hey man you scared me." Miller lamented, trying to catch his breath while also trying to hide the knife and giving out a huge sigh.
"You must have been so scared to have a knife on your hand and the earth might sink because of that sigh of yours." William Smith mocked his younger brother.
"When did you arrive?" Miller asked.
"I've been here since morning. Been waiting for you forever." William complained.
"Well, I'm sorry, you should have called." Miller replied.
"I wanted to surprise you." William said feigning disappointment.
"You sure did. Am sorry." Miller cheered him up. "Go to bed now, you traveled a long way here, you should get some rest as I'm personally tired myself. We will talk more by tomorrow." Miller continued.
"Ok sir." William replied before heading to his room.
