Chapter 11

1329 Words
The moonlight reveals the girl’s pointed ears and her two different-colored eyes. The girl smiles faintly as she flicks the school nurse on the forehead. “i***t. That’s not the real reason why you’re happy.” the girl says teasingly. “Nothing can get past you, Holly.” Elias says as he sighs in defeat. “What do you expect, Elias? I’m an elf witch. I know when someone is lying. Especially a pain in the ass vampire who thinks he’s all alone in this world even though he isn’t.” Holly states with a smirk on her face. Elias grumbles at Holly’s comment. “Why are you here, then? Elias asks as he pouts. “I’m here to kill some time. I’m bored. Being stuck in my cottage is stifling. It’s no fun. Besides, humans are annoying.” Holly says nonchalantly. Elias sits up and flicks Holly on the forehead just as she did with him earlier. His smile softens. “Yet you protect those annoying humans,” says Elias as he stands up. “I’m going out to hunt. Feel free to use the shower and kitchen. Just don’t make any potions, or I’ll kill you.” Elias says as he walks over to the front door. He walks out and closes the door behind him. Elias heads for the woods using his vampire speed to hunt. Meanwhile, back at Sabrina’s house, Sabrina can finally move freely as the paralysis is gone from the poison. Over the next few days, Sabrina stayed home to recover from the Juniper poison and hunted animals in the woods to gather her strength. The day after Sabrina was injected with Juniper poison, she gained a high fever. Almost no vampire has survived the high fever from Juniper poison. Sabrina has an incredible will to live. Kason and Miguel are worried about Sabrina, but they know the best thing to do for Sabrina is be patient and wait. Before long, a week passes and Sabrina is back at school. But she’s still not at full strength. As she walks about the school hallways, the smell of blood tempts her, but she knows that she must restrain her thirst for human blood. Miguel has already gone to class, and Kason and Sabrina are walking together in the hallway. Suddenly, three cheerleaders walk up to Sabrina and Kason. The cheerleader on the left has light brown hair, green eyes, and a curvy body, perfect for cheerleading. The girl on the right has blonde hair with red highlights on the tips, brown eyes, and a slender body figure. The third girl, the one in the center, has black hair, blue eyes, and a curvy body. All three girls have a scowl on their faces. “Where do you think you’re going?” Mean girl no.1 asks. “I’m going to class. I actually like learning about something, unlike you, who always skips class and fauns over Jayden every single day,” replies Sabrina as she smirks at the three girls. This makes all three cheerleaders seethe with anger. “Just because you’re smart doesn’t make you popular like us. You’re probably seething with envy because you wish you could be popular and pretty like us. You’re just a dweeb.” mean girl no. 3 declares. This pisses Sabrina off. She decides to make a comeback to that remark. Kason stands there in silence and watches over Sabrina just in case she snaps and goes into pissed-off vampire mode. Sabrina starts laughing. “Hahaha! You think you’re so funny. I have one thing to say. I don’t care about being popular or being pretty. I don’t need to change myself to get Jayden’s attention. He’s way out of your league. He’ll never love the likes of you. Whereas for me, I know what his true personality is like. So I suggest you girl’s scram.” states Sabrina as she laughs hysterically. The three cheerleaders become angrier and the girl in the middle slaps Sabrina across the face. “How dare you say that! No guy is out of my league. You’re just a loser who merely thinks she has any hopes of getting Jayden to be her boyfriend!” mean girl no. 1 shouts angrily. Sabrina becomes angrier than she already is and her fangs start coming out. Kason sees this and intervenes by lightly hitting Sabrina on top of her head. This somewhat calms Sabrina down and her fangs disappear. He smiles at Sabrina and turns his attention to the cheerleaders. “I suggest you leave before I tell the school principal that you are bullying an innocent girl because you’re jealous of the things she has instead of you,” Kason says. The three cheerleaders run away and Kason turns his attention back to Sabrina. He sees that Sabrina is crying. He takes her hand in his hand and starts walking. A few minutes later, they walk into the nurse’s office. Elias sees Kason and Sabrina walk in. He notices that Sabrina is crying and that he can smell the anger coming from her. He walks up to them and pats both of them on the head. Elias closes the door and walks back over to his desk. “Take all the time you need. I’ll be here if you need anything,” says Elias with a faint smile. Kason guides Sabrina to one of the beds and they sit down together. Kason smiles gently and wipes away Sabrina’s tears. “Please don’t cry. I hate seeing you cry,” says Kason. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I almost lost control. But those girls don’t know Jayden’s like I do. They don’t know how much Jayden has sacrificed to keep me safe. He’s the kindest person I know.” Sabrina says through her sobs. “It’s alright, Sabrina. I’m right here,” replies Kason as he tries to comfort Sabrina. “Even though I went into the woods to hunt, I’m still so hungry. Hell, I even almost switched off my humanity again! If it weren’t for Turaya, I would have switched off my humanity. But ever since I met you and Miguel, you have been nothing but kind to me. You accepted the fact that I am a vampire and have kept my secret hidden. But I’m so hungry for human blood that I fear I might kill you or, worse, turn you into a vampire. You’re the first friends I’ve made since erasing Natasha’s memories.” Sabrina confesses through her sobs. Kason becomes sad because Sabrina fears herself. Sabrina is like a sister to him and he would do anything to protect her. But at the same time, she reminds him of how he used to be after his sister’s funeral. Then, a thought hits Kason. What if he became a vampire? He knows that’s asking a lot, but that means he can protect Sabrina. Not because someone is after her life, but to be there for her like a big brother. Kason knows that becoming a vampire will change his life. He won’t age or die, but he’ll at least be by Sabrina’s side. “Sabrina, I know what I’m about to ask is crazy and absurd, but hear me out before you refuse. Sabrina, will you turn me into a vampire?” Kason asks. Both Sabrina and Elias look at Kason in disbelief. “No! Absolutely not!” Sabrina shouts. “Please hear me out, Sabrina. You are like a sister to me and I care about you. I lost someone dear to me that I can never get back and I was in a dark place for a while until I met you. I want to protect you, Sabrina. I’m not just saying this as a joke. Please, I’m asking you to give me a chance. I know that if I become a vampire, my life as a human will end.” replies Kason as he explains himself.
