"Let’s make one thing clear. I'm the kind of guy who holds a grudge for a long time. What is your Master’s name?” Kason asks.
“His name is William Vaughan Von Maize,” Jayden replies.
Kason looks over to Sabrina and sees her sitting on her knees in a daze.
“I have to go. I have to comfort Sabrina." Kason says and walks away.
Jayden walks away with new determination.
Kason walks back to the courtyard and finds Sabrina sitting on the ground in a daze. He also sees Miguel standing there next to her, glaring at him.
"I told you not to go overboard. What if someone heard or saw you?" Miguel retorts.
"Sorry. He pissed me off." Kason says apologetically.
Miguel sees a hint of anger and sadness in Kason's eyes.
"So, what's bothering you? I know that look when I see it," asks Miguel.
"I'll tell you later. My priority is to take care of Sabrina," says Kason indifferently.
Kason looks down at Sabrina with concern.
"Has Sabrina calmed down a little?" Kason asks with concern in his voice.
"She's finally stopped crying, but that doesn't mean Sabrina is alright. I don't know if we can stop her if she switches off her humanity." Miguel says, stating the facts.
"I'll stop by the nurse's office during lunch and tell Elias what's going on. There are a few things I need to talk to him about concerning Jayden." Kason says.
Miguel is surprised that Kason is calling the school nurse by his first name. Well, Elias did look after Sabrina and Kason after Kason was turned into a vampire.
Kason kneels and puts his hand on top of Sabrina's head.
"Do you think you can get through today, at least?" Kason asks.
Sabrina looks up at Kason and stares at him. After a long silence, she nods to say she can get through the day.
"Good. Glad to hear it. You have your next class with Miguel, right? I'll have him look after you for now," says Kason.
"Okay…" Sabrina says, agreeing with Kason.
Kason helps Sabrina up to her feet and wipes away her tears. Miguel grabs Sabrina’s book bag for her, following Kason’s lead. Kason's throat suddenly tightens up and his mouth becomes intensely dry. The thought of drinking human blood consumes his mind but he resists the urge to cloud his mind.
Kason drops to one knee and his fangs reveal themselves in the corners of his mouth. His eyes start changing color. Sabrina kneels to Kason and looks at him in concern.
"Kason!" Sabrina says, shouting in a panic.
"What's happening to him, Sabrina?" Miguel asks in concern.
"Kason needs to feed. If a newborn vampire doesn't immediately drink human blood after the transition, they start to become bloodthirsty and murder everyone in sight. This is one of the early signs. He needs to drink human blood right now." says Sabrina, telling Miguel the gravity of the situation.
"He can drink my blood," Miguel states.
"Are you sure about this, Miguel? There may be a chance that you might die," Sabrina asks, wanting to know Miguel's answer.
"If it will save Kason, then it doesn't matter. I trust that Kason won't kill me. I'm his best friend. We've always been through everything together, including the ups and downs. Besides, this is my way of saying sorry for the way I blamed you for keeping me in the dark about Kason’s transition into a vampire," says Miguel as he gives Sabrina a confident smile.
Sabrina sees Miguel's confidence in Kason and smiles. Not a fake smile, but a genuine smile full of life.
"Alright, then. Hold out your wrist and put it in front of Kason's mouth," says Sabrina as she instructs Miguel on what to do.
"Kason, this isn't the time to hesitate. You need to drink my blood. If you don't, you'll go mad and go on a murder spree." Miguel says, urging Kason to drink his blood.
Kason weakly smiles at Miguel.
"Sorry 'bout this," Kason says and grabs Miguel's wrist.
Kason bites Miguel's wrist and starts drinking his blood. Miguel winces in pain as Kason drinks his blood. A few minutes later, Miguel starts laughing as he becomes lightheaded.
"Hahaha! He's biting my wrist pretty hard. I'm starting to see stars," Miguel says with a smile.
"Kason, you need to stop. Miguel is gonna pass out," says Sabrina.
Kason stops drinking Miguel's blood and wipes away the blood on his chin. He catches Miguel before he passes out.
"Sorry…" Miguel says with a hoarse voice.
"i***t. Don't be sorry. You would do the same thing for me." Kason says with a wry smile.
"Come on. I'll take you to the nurse's office. Sabrina, go on to class. We don't want you to be late for class. While you're at it, please tell our teachers that we'll be in the nurse's office?" asked Kason.
"Sure thing," Sabrina replies.
Miguel remembers that Sabrina hasn't had her helping of blood for lunch and becomes worried. He doesn't want her to pass out again.
"Sabrina, you haven't eaten yet," Miguel says in concern.
Sabrina smiles at Miguel to reassure him she won't pass out today.
"Don't worry. Drinking animal blood isn't so bad. It's less appetizing, but it will have to do for now until I get back to full strength. We'll talk later. Be on your way to Elias’s office." Sabrina says and waves goodbye to both Kason and Miguel.
Kason helps Miguel get up to his feet and takes him to the nurse's office. Once lunch is over, Sabrina walks to class and makes sure to tell her teacher that Kason took Miguel to the nurse's office.
All the while in the nurse's office, Kason tells Elias and Miguel about their encounter with Jayden and the information he obtained about why Jayden’s Master wants Sabrina. Both Kason and Miguel have decided not to tell Sabrina just yet that her evil vampire uncle wants her dead to exact revenge on her father. They hate lying to Sabrina, but they feel that she shouldn’t know about this. At least not yet, anyway. Elias stands against the wall in his office with a grim expression.
"This is very disturbing indeed. I never thought I would hear about the intentions of one of the oldest and most powerful vampires in existence," says Elias, perplexed about the situation that's now occurred.
“Have you heard of this William Vaughan Von Maize guy?” Miguel asks.
“I’ve heard of him. But I don’t know anything about him. The only thing I know about him is that he belonged to a powerful family of pureblood vampires and disappeared three hundred years ago.” replies Elias.
"We have to protect Sabrina. No matter what it takes, we have to keep her safe." Kason states.
"I agree. Sabrina is still just a child, even though she is a vampire. This brings me to my next question. How's she doing after facing Jayden?" Elias asks with concern in his voice.
"It will take some time for her heart to heal. Sabrina has been waiting a long time to reunite with Jayden. Now that she knows Jayden's pushing her away, she's devastated. Jayden knows that he can't be with her. Not while he's sired to that vampire bastard. He knows that he'll only continue to hurt her while he's under the control of his Master. That's why Jayden asked me to protect and look after Sabrina in his place. I told him the least he could do is watch over her from the shadows. Which brings up an old wound of my past." Kason says as he sadly looks out the window.
Miguel knows what Kason is talking about—the death of Kason's older sister.
"Kason, are you sure you're ready to talk about this?" Miguel asks.
Miguel is concerned that it might be too early for Kason to talk about his sister’s death. Kason looks at Miguel with a wry smile to let him know that it’s alright. He knows it’s time to talk about it. He’s been in denial about his sister’s death and avoided talking about it.
"I found out who killed my sister, or I should say what killed my sister," stated Kason.
Miguel is shocked to hear that Kason found out who killed his sister.
"A werewolf killed my sister," Kason says and grits his teeth in anger.
Miguel looks at Kason in shock.
"No way! I'm sorry, Kason," Miguel says with worry in his voice.
Haley meant everything to Kason. She was his whole world. Elias sees Kason is angry and decides to test him on what he plans to do when he finds the werewolf who killed his sister.
"Tell me this, what are you going to do now that you know a werewolf killed your sister? Do you want revenge? Or do you want to kill them?" Elias asks.
