Miguel gives both Kason and Sabrina an exasperated sigh. He’s glad his friends aren’t hurt, but he’s furious that they kept him in the dark. They could’ve told him. They could’ve included him. He’s known Kason since they were kids. He’s only known Sabrina for a few weeks. He’s been there when Kason was going through dark times and when his sister was killed. Miguel angrily glares at Sabrina.
“Did you even think of asking me to be included? I’ve known Kason since we were kids. Did you even have a second thought on how this would affect me, how I would feel about my best friend not being human anymore? Did you think about our families? Hell, did you even think how this would affect our friendship? Are we even friends? You know what you are, Sabrina? A coward. A coward that runs away when things get tough and then wallows over what could have been.” Miguel shouts angrily.
Sabrina’s eyes fill with sadness, but she continues to smile. Kason becomes infuriated and punches Miguel in the face. Now that he is a vampire, he makes sure to control his strength.
“Don’t you dare say that to Sabrina! Sabrina is like a sister to me. I chose to become a vampire because I wanted to. Yes, I know you and I have been together since we were kids, but that’s changed. We’re not kids anymore, Miguel. You and I chose to be in Sabrina’s life and I’m not going to abandon her. So you can kiss my ass if you think I will abandon a friend. You can be mad at me all you want, but don’t take it out on Sabrina. So stop with this tantrum and get over it. Sabrina has suffered enough.” shouts Kason.
Miguel clicks his tongue in anger and stands up.
"I'm a little more than mad, I’m furious, but I forgive you. I know that being a vampire is hard and terrifying. Now that Kason is a vampire, I need to do my best to get stronger. I want to protect you both. I’m sorry for calling you a coward. I wish you could’ve told me instead of keeping me in the dark." Miguel says with determination in his voice now that he’s calmed down.
Still on the roof, Jayden is in shock. Sadness fills his eyes, knowing that the girl he saw the other day is, in fact, Sabrina. He didn’t want to believe it was Sabrina.
"It's you, Sabrina. It's been so long. But everything we once knew is gone. I loved you so much back then, but now everything is different. I'm not the person you once knew. I'm glad that you've found some good friends. I should say one last goodbye to you before I disappear from your sight once again." Jayden says with sadness in his voice. He never wanted to see Sabrina again. But at the same time, a faint part of him wished she would appear again.
Jayden jumps off the roof and lands in front of Sabrina and her friends.
Both Kason and Miguel stumble in surprise.
"What the hell!" Kason shouts.
"That scared the crap out of me," says Miguel as he tries to figure out what is happening.
Sabrina recognizes the person who jumped from the roof. She stands there in shock and tears threaten to fall.
"Hi, Sabrina," says Jayden, trying to smile at Sabrina.
"Long time no see, Jayden… I was shocked that you didn't recognize me the other day." Sabrina says in response.
"I heard that you collapsed. Is that true? I’m assuming it was because you ran out of your blood supply?" Jayden asks.
"I can’t fool you, can I? I’ve always been bad at lying," Sabrina replies.
"Of course, I know! I’ve known you since we were children," replied Jayden.
"Yeah. I drank the last of my blood supply the other day." Sabrina explains as she looks away from Jayden.
"Do you have a family now…?" Jayden asks hesitantly.
Sabrina looks back at Jayden with a faint smile.
"Yeah. I was adopted into a good family. I have a mom, two older brothers, and a little sister. When I was adopted, their dad was already gone. Jessie, my oldest brother, said that he died two years before they adopted me. They don't know that I'm a vampire. No one can know. I know that you regret turning me into a vampire. I am still in denial of turning my friend into a vampire myself." Sabrina says and sadly smiles.
"Now, do you understand why I didn't want to turn you into a vampire?" Jayden asks with a stern expression. It's more like a warning than a question.
"Yeah. It's horrible. Since that night on the hill at the orphanage, there's always been a part of me telling me that I hurt you terribly. I'm sorry..." Sabrina says as she starts crying once again.
Sabrina desperately wipes away her tears. Kason hits the back of Sabrina's head. Since Kason is a vampire, his light punches to the back of the head actually hurt Sabrina now. But she won’t admit it, though. Jayden and Miguel stand there, confused about what is happening.
"Ow! What was that for?" Sabrina asks, shouting.
"i***t! How many times do I have to tell you that I chose to become a vampire of my own will? You and Miguel are important to me. That's why I told you it was alright for you to turn me into a vampire. I told you that Miguel and I chose to be in this kind of world because we care about you and will never abandon you." Kason declares.
Jayden sees how Kason and Miguel care for Sabrina, which slightly eases his heart.
"I see. You've found some good friends, Sabrina. I'm sorry, but this is the last time we'll see each other." Jayden says as his smile fades.
"What do you mean this is the last time we'll see each other? I finally found you again. Now you're leaving? I never got to tell you that I love you.” Sabrina says as she continues to cry.
Kason sees sadness and guilt in Jayden's eyes.
"I'm sorry. Everything that happened between us all those years ago is a mere dream now. It's in the past. From now on, stay away from me. You'll only get in the way." Jayden says, walking away without turning back to look at Sabrina.
Kason glares daggers in the direction Jayden is walking.
"Hey, can you stay here with Sabrina? I forgot something important I need to do," Kason asks, signaling Miguel to watch over Sabrina.
Miguel knows what Kason is going to do. He knows that Kason is going to have a little conversation with Jayden.
"Don't go overboard," Miguel says, agreeing with Kason.
"I know," replies Kason, giving Miguel a confident smile.
Miguel decides to give Kason a warning. With Kason being a newborn vampire, his strength and thirst for human blood are at their peaky. Especially since he was just on the receiving end of one of his punches, his right eye is throbbing. He most likely has a black eye. Miguel has done some research and discovered that newborn vampires have heightened emotions. That means Kason’s anger is on a different level now that he is a vampire.
"I know you know, but now that you're a vampire, you're ten times as strong as a human," says Miguel as a warning.
Kason becomes a little irritated with Miguel, knowing that he's right.
"I get that, Miguel. But I can't just stand here and let Jayden walk away. Sabrina has been searching for Jayden all this time, and he has the nerve to tell her to stay away from him." Kason protests and then goes after Jayden.
