I had no expectations for Dr. Hann but I didn't think it would be that bad, all those smiles he gave me when we first met now felt like mockery. In his mind, he must have been laughing at how stupid I was to be delivering myself right into his hands.
It wasn't just me crying when the boys were done telling me their ordeal. They were crying too and I could also hear sniffles from outside the door. I knew Mary wouldn't have gone far, she probably just sat by the door waiting to swoop in should she be needed. I don't know what good karma I had cultivated to get such a friend. This whole privacy thing was just for the benefit of the children, for mine not to feel scared about telling me what had happened and for Mary's children not to hear anything horrifying.
