Concert Tickets

Blair and Catalina became close since that day. They were exchanging smiles in the hallway, in the cafeteria or anywhere their ways met. They are also exchanging a few words when they happened to meet somewhere. They became what 'casual' friends are. And all those times, those interactions, either a word or a smile, Catalina is the happiest while Suzy is suffering the most. Catalina is that type of friend that loves to hit their friend on their arms or pinch them so when Catalina and Blair had an interaction, Suzy is getting as far as possible from her.

Today is such a lovely day, who cares what day exactly it is right now, what's important is its weekday, meaning Catalina will probably see Blair at school. Not probably, Catalina will really do everything just to see her because she has a plan. She planned to invite Blair on a date, this time a date between them only. She got 2 tickets for a concert by her favorite artists from her mom, and her mom said that she should come with Blair.

Catalina can’t help but grin, imagining all the scenes that will possibly happen if Blair accepted her invitation. She’s way too happy and excited for what’s happening now between her and Blair and what’s more to happen between them. Up until now, she still can’t believe that it’s actually happening, that she and Blair are now close. She’s seeing the light even brighter than before. She’s getting closer and closer to the star with each passing day.

“You look creepy.”

Rein said, seeing her friend Catalina, been grinning all day.

“You’re just jealous because I’m close to getting my girl while you are still stuck with childhood friends title.”

Catalina rebutted, sticking her tongue out.

Rein snorted and just ignored her best friend, focused on wherever they are walking.

The classes just ended and the two are now walking towards the gym. Catalina will look for Blair in the gym and Rein was forced to accompany her. Their two other best friends, Suzy went to the Student Council’s office to get something, and she asked Hashmin to accompany her. In normal situations, it would be Catalina who will accompany Suzy, since they are the ‘buddies’ in their group but because Catalina will ask Blair for a date, they separated their ways.

“Why don’t you at least make a bigger move to Hashmin? You know she’s the densest among all living organisms so you should also be in full effort in showing your feelings for her.”

“You know that that’s not that easy. Hashmin is obviously not interested in me and also, I don’t want to risk our friendship in case she rejected me. I’m contented in this way, at least she’s always by my side.”

Catalina poked Rein on her side but it didn’t affect Rein at all. She just looked back, raising one of her brows due to the contact she felt.

“Who would even think that the coldest and second to the smartest in school, Ms. Rein Perkins is actually pretty dumb in terms of love?”

“Shut up or I’ll tear those tickets in your hand into pieces.”

Hearing that, Catalina hid the tickets in her hand in her skirt’s pocket then glared at Rein. 

“Come on don’t be that bitter or else nothing will go on your way.”

“Who cares and can you just get inside so we can finally get home?”

Catalina elicited a laugh first then walked towards the gym.

When Catalina stepped her feet inside, her heart is almost like it will leave her chest. She’s more nervous today than the first time she asked Blair. During the first time she asked Blair, she has a lame reason, big thanks to Calculus. While for this one, she doesn’t have any excuse or reason to ask Blair of all people. That’s not the only thing she’s worried about, this may be will put ideas on Blair’s mind too. Blair will probably get the whole idea, that the reason why Catalina is acting this way towards her is she likes her a lot, after all, Catalina is pretty obvious. And Catalina wonders what would be Blair’s reaction if she discovered that Catalina has feelings for her.

Will she like me to? Will she break with Jared for me? Or will she reject me then never talk to me again?

Catalina is really nervous and started getting conscious of herself. She wonders if she will do great for this one. She wonders if she will be able to make Blair say yes. She also wonders what will happen after today. She’s hoping that Blair will not get that idea yet since she’s not yet ready to confess, she’s not yet emotionally ready. She wants to be perfectly ready so Blair will not have a reason to turn her down, ‘cause if Blair did, she wonders if she can ever take that.

“Excuse me, is Blair here?”

Catalina asked, approaching a student who looks like a freshman, busy wiping the balls that they probably used earlier while cross-legged sitting on the floor.

The freshman looks so shocked that Catalina, the famous Queen bee talked to her, she zoned out for a few seconds and Catalina really tried her best not to be pissed at that. She means, of course, it’s a good thing that people envy her a lot but she’s in a hurry now. She badly wants to talk with Blair already so she really can’t afford any commercial.

Catalina cleared her throat and the freshman finally got her soul back to her body.

“S-Sorry. C-Captain is in the locker r-room.”

The freshman said, pointing her finger in the direction of the locker room. After mumbling her thanks and offering the freshman a kind smile, Catalina turned her back on her and walked towards the locker room.

In every step that Catalina takes, her breathing is getting heavier. She felt like something, someone is telling her to turn her back in the locker room. That she should leave this place immediately. That she should save the invitation for other days since the concert will still happen in less than 2 weeks from now or she should just drop the idea of inviting Blair into a date. But of course, Catalina didn’t pay attention to those thoughts. She believed that she was just getting flooded with negative thoughts due to nervousness. That she doesn’t need to fear since she will only ask Blair to hang out. There’s nothing wrong with it, there’s nothing weird in it. She’s the one who’s being weird. She’s feeling weird. She’s getting butterflies in her stomach. She’s feeling cold and her skin pores are starting to release cold sweats. She’s uncomfortable but still, she didn’t mind those feelings and just continue walking until she finally turned into a corner and saw Blair and Jared.

Blair and Jared are just talking, more like arguing. Catalina can’t hear whatever they are talking about due to the distance between her and them and also, Blair and Jared are not shouting or at least raising their voices even for a bit. Catalina only concluded that they are arguing because of the expressions they are wearing. The two haven’t noticed her yet and Catalina doesn’t want to interfere with them so she decided that she will just wait for Blair at the bleachers of the gym, convinced that their talk won’t take that long. But before Catalina can ever turn her back on them, she was petrified at what she had witnessed and what can only do is clench her fists together with the tickets.

It will still be okay, bearable for Catalina if it’s Jared and not Blair. If it’s Jared who cupped Blair’s face and forced himself on Blair because Hestia will just think that Blair doesn’t like it at all but it was Blair. Blair is the one who initiated the action. Blair cupped his face and made their lips met in a hot kiss. Blair is the one who pushed him into the lockers as they exchanged kisses.

Catalina is not dumb enough to stay at that place and watched the two of them exchange kisses that Catalina wished it was her, who’s Blair is kissing. Catalina left the place in a swift move, not paying attention to the freshman who looked back at her in surprise that she was quick to leave the locker room. Catalina just walked and walked, actually wants to run but she’s scared that she will lose her balance and fall on the ground because she can feel it, her whole body, even the insides of her is trembling.

Rein is surprised when she saw her best friend already walking towards her.

“You’re quick to return. What ha-”

Rein didn’t get a chance to finish her question because Catalina immediately enveloped her into a hug, desperate to get some warmth and comfort from her best friend. And that’s when her tears only fall. They are falling way too fast. Catalina can’t stop them, her eyes just keep on letting out tears that’s been begging to come out since she witnessed that scene.

Hashmin and Suzy who just get into the scene, shooting a questioning gaze to Rein, and Rein returned it with a gaze telling them that she doesn’t have any idea what happened. 

The three just assumed that Blair rejected Catalina’s invitation, oblivious to them that it’s even worse. Blair didn’t just reject Catalina’s invitation, she rejected Catalina as a whole, she rejected Catalina's request to enter her life as her lover. 

Catalina, how dumb of her to forget one thing. She forgot the most important thing that she should always be aware of; Blair is straight and has a boyfriend.
