Chapter 23: Sword demon vs Flaming priestess

“Two of you hold tightly! Extreme speed!”

Kaede and Clover hold Yuki’s body. Yuki goes all out and kicks the ground. Their speed was like of rocket. Dashing in a straight line until the three fell in the cliff and dive into the river.

The river stream washed them away far from the unbreakable monster. The monster failed to detect Kaede’s party and move to another location.

With that Kaede’s party was saved from the great danger. If the monster happened to chase them down and got defeated. The whole team will immediately be bailed out in the event.

Bailing out the event is something that Yuki will never gonna let to happened. To win this event, Yuki wants to give her all.

“I think we got far enough… Kaede are you okay?”

“Yeah… I’m sorry I have to hold to you.”

Kaede doesn’t have any swimming ability in real life and in-game. Her holding to someone is something Yuki already expected. While at it Yuki thought why Kaede is not learning how to swim.

Kaede turned her eyes on Clover and saw clover floating easily on the water. She looks at her with envy.

Meanwhile, Yuki’s eyes are looking at Clover's breast with a sharp glare.

“We need to pop those floating balloons…”

“These are not floating balloons! Even I was embarrassed to have this kind of body. I do wish that I have a smaller breast size. With smaller breasts, I can wear many cute things.”

Clover retorted and hugs her body.

“I understand now… Everything has pros and cons.”

Kaede said innocently, but still, Yuki’s stare is fixed on Clover's breast. It irritates her because she's flat. Comparing her body is something that happened to Yuki so often. It's not a good mentality to have and she knows it.

But to be someone to be as competitive as Yuki. Yuki’s mentality made her compare herself to others always.

Kaede meanwhile also look at her body and saw her flat chest. It made her sad but not as sad as Yuki.

I guess drinking milk will make them grow bigger. I’ll drink milk starting tomorrow. Kaede thought and look an optimistic future.

“Stop staring at my chest already and let's keep going!”

Clover rose from the river. Yuki and Kaede look at each other and followed her. The sun is about to rise and they restore their SP by resting in the forest. They encounter monsters and instantly defeat them.

Most of them are low-level forest monsters that only gave 10 points. After defeating 20 of the forest monsters like kobolds and slimes. The points added to are still far enough to the top player whose currently at the top of the leaderboard.

“It's morning already. And were still halfway to the top 1 player in the event. We need to catch up.”

Yuki said.

Clover walked beside Kaede and whispered.

“Why Yuki was so obsessed with winning this event anyway. She seems to be a newbie player. Winning against the player whose playing for months now is impossible.”

“It's Yuki’s first event. She wanted to make it memorable and as her friend, I would like to help her. I’ll do my best to reach the top with her.”

“Well, the first event you join it before has no top player, and almost of the player, there was a newbie. There was a level ceiling in that event. But this event has no level ceiling and anyone can join the event. There is one top player that joined this event.”

Kaede already noticed it. Despite her having just overpowered skill and strength that is comparable to high-level players. She knows that her strength is not enough to take down a player whose standing at the top of the game.

That’s one of the reasons why Kaede didn’t get arrogant after winning her first battle event. She remained humble.

But if a top player appeared in front of her for battle. Kaede was 100% ready for it.

“A top player…”

“The top player was named Amber the flaming priestess she is the one who holds most of the points right now. According to data, she only has two-party mates. Two great shield user that protects and support her. With the three of them, it creates a powerful fortress-like strategy. Where the player can’t go closer to the priestess.”

Yuki said.

Kaede was startled when Yuki speak. She didn’t know that she was listening to their conversation.

“A shield user that can also cast support skill… That's going to be huge trouble. Those two are also the high level I suppose. Maybe in eighty or hundred.”

Clover said. After saying that Yuki was very troubled.

With an optimistic smile and cheerful expression, Kaede rose from the gloomy atmosphere Yuki and Clover were having.

“Then, let's crush them down! It's kinda cool right when we newbie defeated a top player like sapphire. Let's crush them down because we’re the indestructible team!”

Kaede said. It put a smile on Yuki and give light to her eyes.

Kaede’s light was so blinding it made Clover and Yuki forget that it was very impossible.

Fantasy world Online is not a kind of VRMMORPG that revolves in leveling. Level does give players stat points that make them stronger. But the ability to made strategy, plan, and creative use of skills is one factor in this game that bends the leveling system itself.

Kaede is not being arrogant when she said she will crush the top player. It's just she wanted to challenge someone far stronger than her.

An announcement was made.

“Good morning players! The second day of the hunting event will start. Like we said earlier a new type of indestructible monster was added in the event. Unfortunately, but most of the players were wiped out after that… Still, behave the top twenty teams that will compete in this hunting event. Leading in the number 1 spot was the Flaming priestess team. The second was The night ruler team and the third was the dragon clans Team. The top team's location will be appearing on your maps. Let the hunting begins!”

“The hunting in the hunting event doesn’t mean to hunt monsters at all.”

Yuki understands it from the beginning. The monsters on the map were limited and not respawning. With limited resources, all they need to do is find another source.

Another source that will surely give a great number of points was not the boss monsters.

“This game event is players hunting other players.”

An unfamiliar voice was heard. Red-haired and amber eyes. From her hand flame power emerges and launches to Kaede’s dream.

“Flame scythe!”

The flame cuts the giant trees surrounding Kaede and her team. Kaede was able to survive by cutting down the trees that are about to fall to her. Clover made it to a safe area.

Yuki on the other side moves her body quickly and gets behind the caster of the skill.

“Cross blade!”

Her daggers were intercepted by a giant shield. And put contact with the greats shield user. Yuki’s body fell and she can’t move an inch of her body.

In her vision, she saw a lightning symbol next to her name. This symbol symbolized paralyzed. With Yuki having it means she was infected with the special status effect.

In from of Yuki’s eyes, Amber opened her palm. Flames ignited and then fires at her.

Yuki closed her eyes refusing what she seeing.

“Blast burn!”

From 20 meter distance. Kaede with a giant tree in her hand throws the tree to block the skill. Saving Yuki from danger. Clover chants her support skill and removes the status effect on Yuki’s body.

“Recovery! Kaede now!”

Kaede buff with speed boost leaps toward Amber. As expected the great shield user came to block Kaede's sword strike.

The sword and the shield collided. Creating an impact that made the ground crumble and c***k.

“Defence buster!”

“Defence buster?!”

Kaede chanted a skill that is unknown to Amber and Yuki. The sword breakthrough the great shield and destroys it.

Defense buster is a skill that made the STR of the user triple when the targeted opponent has the most points on her VIT. The user is required to have the least VIT to its opponent. IF not the skill is not activated.

Kaede acquired this skill before the event started. Before the event started she was able to acquire three skills. Smokescreen, Defence buster, and Repulse.

With the VIT stat obviously high on a great shield user. Kaede was made to be the shield user's worst enemy.

“I didn’t know that she has such skill on her…”

Yuki muttered and pulled herself up.

“I’ll continue to support you. Both of you do your best.”

Yuki nodded on Clover who is serious.

Now is the time for them to take the highest points in the whole event. If they manage to defeat this three. The number one spot will be theirs.

Amber blasted fireballs toward Kaede to push her back from her teammate. Retreated knowing that she doesn’t have much HP to go head on the top player.

Within two hits of any attack from the top player. Kaede is most like to be taken out. That’s why she was very focused.

“It startled me… That's the sturdiest shield I have and she destroys it.”

“Focus Melie, we can’t let Amber got defeated in the event. Our reputation as the top player is on the line here.”

“I know that Nell, but she is truly a sword demon.”

Amber then step forward highly.

“She is the sword user that bends the game system. Being high level can’t be applied to her. Let's defeat her like how we defeat the other player in a higher rank.”

The two shield user agrees. Melie gets another great shield from her inventory and put support skill on herself to make her shield sturdier and durable.

“Sheild protection, speed boost, damage multiplier, MP conservation, cooldown reduction.”

Clover cast another stack of buff to Kaede and Yuki.

“... I only have a few MP left. I can’t cast high-level skills anymore.”

Hearing that Kaede and Yuki know that they can’t make this battle drag itself any longer. They must defeat Amber as soon as possible.

With the two teams fired up. The battle will continue.
