Chapter 63: Summer Cup first round (Part 3)

It happened a long time ago. Under the orange sky and peaceful street. While walking back home from school. Kaede is on my side optimistically smiling looking up in the orange dye sky.
“I wonder what kind of dinner we're having tonight? I wish it to be hamburger steak. Yuki why do you look so spaced out?”
“Sorry, are you saying something?”
“Are you thinking about games? You’re already good at it. So don’t worry. No one in our class can be you in games.”
“I suppose your right? Well, games are all I have. I’m not as wealthy or smart as Kaede. I always need to do my best and made extra effort in every other thing.”
That’s right, games are all I have.
I'm only good in games after all.
While playing games. I feel invincible because I’m strong. People look at me with a glimmer in their eyes because I’m strong.
But that arrogance of mine ended in the middle of early middles school. Going up on a tournament. I face a girl that’s a lot stronger than me. Everything happened in a flash, She defeated me instantly. It was the semi-finals and I have high hope of being held as a champion. But it's all destroyed by her.
She is way stronger than me.
After I was defeated. No one looks in my direction anymore. All eyes were taken by the winner. A user like myself ended up being forgotten.
And today, in the summer cup.
Every same person defeated me. It didn’t even last. She’s completely calm looking like she used to be.
After being defeated my character avatar was sent back to the waiting room. There Saya, Ronie, and Clover were all waiting.
“I’m sorry, That mage was too strong.”
“Same with Amber she burned me to charcoal in instant again.”
“Yuki? Are you fine?”
Tears came flowing and I wipe them out.
“It's fine, It's just… I’m defeated because of my arrogance again. I rushed my attacks and gotten confused. I’m a failure as an assassin. I can even take one a player with the first strike.”
“Don’t worry about it, They are strong… Strong, no one here blames you. Everyone here just wants to play games and have some fun.”
Clover said to comfort me. Whose crying after my loss.
My heart can’t take it. I was angry with myself. Me, being shallow-minded. Someone desperately trying to pursue something from the past.
“For now, let's have faith for Kaede on winning this round.”

Skill explanation:
Viper skill leaves a luminous trail in its wake, and it can be recognized by the sharp angles it describes as its trajectory changes. While traveling in a straight line, it is indistinguishable from other light-type Range Skills.
Hound Skill (Guided light Bullet and Tracking light Bullet) is a range skill. Its properties change slightly depending on whether it is set to Detection Guidance or Visual Guidance. The hound leaves a luminous trail in its wake, and it can be recognized by the way it curves to home in on the target. While traveling in a straight line, it is indistinguishable from other light-type range skills.

Kaede is the only one left on the battlefield. She got worried after she saw the notification of Yuki being defeated. She clenched her sword and took a deep breath.
She started thinking things.
Summer cup has a rule where she can’t use Items or change her equipment. Now she is wearing her staple Black knight armor with a sword piercing sword in her hand. She can’t use the double-wielding style for now. Because they are banned from opening the inventory.
Not opening the inventory is a huge handicap for Kaede. Kaede doesn’t have much MP to cast her skills. She relies on MP potions to replenish her.
The skill she used earlier Cutter. Already took nearly half of her MP. For now, she needs to restrain from using it.
I can’t use my combo skill paralyzing roar and smog. Because Melida having a guardian veil skill with her. I have to rely on my high damage attack this time. The problem was the speed. Lacking agility, I can’t move fast to dodge the number of hounds Elise can shoot.
The bright idea comes to Kaede’s head and realized that she is not alone in the battle. She still has one friend to rely on in the game.
“Summon Familiar!”
She activated her skill to summon Biscuit. Biscuit the small kitten appeared on the battlefield.
“Biscuit use spirit enhance!”
The cat grows larger enough for Kaede to ride on it. Biscuit has a set of skills and accessories Kaede attached to her. With this Kaede got lots of options available to battle Melida and Elise.
Because of Biscuit Agility wasn’t a problem any longer. Biscuit can move at high speed.
“Kaede Rider sword rider form!”
“Meow! Meow!”
Kaede started moving around the map with Biscuit. Elise whose floating immediately saw Kaede’s position and fly toward her direction.
“Hound!”
“Biscuit use Protection!”
The transparent barrier was made to block all Elise attacks. Biscuit hops on the destroyed buildings. Using all her strength she leaped toward Elise.
“Biscuit use spirit cannon!”
“Meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!”
From her mouth, she blasted a beam of light to Elise. Before it hits, Melida appeared to block the attack. The beam didn’t even made any significant damage to Melida’s HP.
Hiding behind melida. Elise cast another hound that shoots upward to the sky and bent down attacking Kaede from behind.
Biscuit shakes her body to take off Kaede from her mount. The Hound was hit to Biscuit instead.
“Biscuit!”

“This is new the artificial intelligence decided its action. What’s happening here?”
The dragon noticed something while watching the battle. He turned his glance to Alice whose enjoying the fight while eating popcorn.
“Don’t look at me like that, Dragon. Like I said before, a project that intended to create a free-willed artificial intelligence was in motion.”
“That’s dangerous. What would you do when Artificial intelligence got its own free will and took over the world. It's like opening Pandora's box.”
“Don’t worry about it. Besides the danger, it's exciting, right? Maybe, when the Free willed Artificial intelligence was created. The human era will end. A new era is about to start. The world of virtual space and infinite possibilities.”
“You’re planning to end the world?”
“Nope, I’m just curious… It's my long life dream to live in a fantasy world like in fantasy novels and anime. I wanted to live my life in that kind of world. If I got death on a truck, I don’t know if I’m going to a different world. That’s why I created this system. To make sure I’m going to experience it. The world I wanted to create is not yet completed. There are many elements I wanted to add. More importantly, in that world I want them to think with their mind. Unpredictable things always lead to enjoyment. If all things are predictable it's boring.”
“Your quite insane Alice.”
“Yep, I’m insane… But I don’t care about it. I hate the boring modern world after all.”
Alice said like its nothing and continue back in watching the battle.

Going back to the battle.
While Kaede is falling. She swings her sword launching the fire sword.
Melida turned her shield and block her attack.
“Biscuit Spirit Cannon!”
Biscuit followed Kaede’s order and blasted another beam from her mouth to Melida and Elise. The attack happened so fast. Melida wasn’t able to defend both of them. Resulting in their fall.
Biscuit fell and go back to Kaede's side. Kaede then rides on Biscuits back once again.
“I’m sorry Biscuit you need to take that damage. Don’t worry I’ll treat you an expensive treat after this battle.”
“Meow! Meow!”
Biscuit delightedly replied.
“Her having a familiar feels like having another member in her team. Kaede is a really tough one.”
Elise looks at her MP and notices the massive decrease. Looking above the MP bar. She got worried about her HP. After taking Yuki’s cross blade she suffers damage to bring down her HP to the orange zone.
But that didn’t matter because she know that one clean strike from Kaede’s sword will lead to her defeat.
“In the last event, she defeats a hundred by herself.”
“That’s true, that’s why we can’t let our guard down in front of her.”
Melida’s Vitality is very high. She’s the only one who can tank Kaede’s strikes. For now, Elise shifted her strategy to supporting Melida instead.
Melida seems to know what's going with Elise's head after seeing her HP and MP bar.
“Speed boost! Enhance armaments!”
Elise put enhancing skills to Melida.
“Thank you, Elise!”
“It's nothing… In the end, we're going to win this fight.”
Melida grinned briefly and turned her face to Kaede. Whose riding her familiar’s back. Kaede started moving n high speed with her familiarity with Their position. Melida put tye shield in front of her and get herself ready.
“Hound!”
Elise cast her last Hound.
“Extremspeed up Biscuit!”
Using extreme speed Biscuit and Kaede manages to avoid the attack. The huge cat crashed to Melida’s shield like a bull. Occupying Meilda for a moment.
That moment was enough for Kaede to move her sword and reach Elise standing right behind Melida’s back.
Elise is much taller compare to Melida whose is the same height as Kaede.
The sword was a stab to Elise's chest.
In her final moment before her HP drops down to zero. She grabs Kaede’s sword. She made put her hand to Kaede and cast a skill.
“You’re not going anywhere... Viper!”
