Chapter 1- Living Hells
I cannot tell what today’s date is, I couldn’t even tell you if it was day or night, all I can tell you is that winter is near as a cool breeze blows through the gap beneath the door. The only way to escape is up those flights of stairs and through that door, but unfortunately, even if I could make my way up there, it would be in vain as the door is always locked he decides to feed me.
He never speaks to me, never even comes to check on me. No one knows who I am because I am the result of drunken, lust-filled one nightstand. It would be seen as dishonourable to his position if they knew of my father’s affair if they knew he had a child that wasn’t the Luna's. My mother was a kind-hearted soul who made mistakes just like everyone else. I knew deep down inside that I ruined her life even though she always reminded me how special I was, and that I was the best thing that has ever happened to her. I loved her for that, she never once regretted having me or meeting the alpha that night, because if it wasn’t for him, I would never have been born.
When my mother was… was still alive, we lived in a small cottage on the outskirts of the pack grounds, away from any other pack members. She hated my father and most of all she hated that everyone looked down on her for having a child with another male that wasn’t her mate. No one would ever visit us, the only time we were ever seen was when we needed to get supplies for the week or had to go to school. And when I went to school, no one even paid attention to me; I was alone in a world with so many people. The only person I had was my mother
On my fifteenth birthday, my mother said she had a surprise for me, I was beyond excited. What could it be? She told me that I needed to pack my things, that we were going on a trip. She never told me where we were going or how long we would be away for, all I knew was that we were leaving the pack territories for a while. But with just my luck I never had the chance to find out where we were going, because just as we were about to lock the door and get into the car, a big black wolf and a slightly smaller grey wolf stopped us in our path; it was none other than the alpha and his beta. What were they doing there? Were there rogues nearby? Did they know that we were leaving? What did they want?
“What do you want alpha?” my mother sweetly said masking any hint of anger. Alpha Rick simply glared at her and growled, he then snapped his head to me and smirked. What was he thinking? I wondered. Before I could process what was happening, something had a grasp on my neck slowly applying more and more pressure. My vision started to become blurry and dull while my breath became heavier.
“No!” my mother screamed. “She has done nothing wrong, she was simply the result of one reckless night. If you want blood, spare hers and take mine… she is only a child.” That was the last thing I heard before a blood-curdling scream filled the forest, and then the heavy blanket of darkness consumed me.
By the time I woke up, I was no longer in the front garden but rather, I was on the cold concrete floor of, well I didn’t know, it was so dark, and the only light was a small lamp that was in the corner of the unknown room. After my eyes began to adjust to my surroundings, I felt something cold drip onto my nose, I realised that I was in someone’s basement, but who's, I didn’t know.
Suddenly a bright light appeared from what seemed to be a flight of stairs.
“Alpha, she’s awake, what should I do with her?” A man murmured.
“I want to talk to her and then give her another dosage” another man snickered.
“B-but alpha, she’s o-only a child, sh-she doesn’t have her w-olf yet.” The first man said.
“I know that Dom, but we don’t need her to be screaming, bringing attention to the basement.” Eventually, two figures came into view as they walked down the stairs, I could only assume they were Alpha Rick and his Beta, Dom. they came closer and closer until they were directly in front of me. I sucked in a deep breath to ready myself for whatever they wanted from me.
“You are a worthless piece of s**t that doesn’t deserve to live. I could easily kill you right here and now, but I won’t. You are still currently the next in line for the alpha position. But when my mate has my child I won’t hesitate to kill you just like I did to your mother” Alpha rick said. H-he killed my mother and now he wants me dead? But why? It’s not like I want to take over his role as Alpha.
“Why, why did you k-kill my m- her. We weren’t playing a threat to you or anything” I squeaked.
“Killing her was never my plan, I wanted YOU dead, but she insisted that you remain alive,” he growled. “So I’m going to keep my promise for now, because as I said you are my only heir at the moment.”
“But I don’t want anything to do with you, and-” I began but was interrupted by a loud slap that was followed by a stinging sensation on my left cheek.
“Do not f*****g speak unless you are asked? Whether I like it or not you are still my daughter and you still have alpha blood in your f*****g veins.” He yelled. “Dom, inject her with some more wolfsbane, but the one with a higher dosage, she obviously has a mouth on her.”
“Yes alpha.” Beta Dom said.
“No please, I-I won’t cause any more pain, just please don’t-” before I could finish, I felt a small pinch in my right arm which was followed by an enormous amount of pain which led to darkness evading me once again.
With each passing day, they treat me less like a human and more like an animal. I am their animal that they can do as they please with. They tell me that I’m a monster but they are not me. They don’t see me shivering and bruising. They don’t see the pain they are causing only the pleasure they are receiving. What could they possibly gain from making my life a living hell? What did I do in my past life to deserve this? The only thing I can do is keep quiet, shut myself off, shut my emotions off. If they seek my tears, they won’t get any. It’s not right the way I’m treated and I know it, but what can I do, it’s not like I can take them on. I’m only a girl, who has yet to find her wolf.
~12 months later~
I can’t tell if it's day or if it's night nor can I remember what it feels like to feel the fresh air fill my lungs. There is nothing more in this world that I want more than to be free, so see the world and to find my happily ever after. But I know that someone like me will never find it. The only thing I look forward to is a meal that they bring down to me, or rather throw at me. I know I am not wanted but what I don’t get is why they keep me? Why don’t they let me go or better yet, why don’t they kill me? The only answer I get is that I am his toy and he will decide whether I should live or not.
The door faintly creaks open, they must have recently oiled the old, worn down door. The sound of footsteps grows louder and louder as my breaths get heavier and heavier. They want to see my fear, they want to see my tears. I mustn’t give them what they want, I’m stronger than this. Just breath and everything will be just fine.
“Here’s your food. Eat it or leave it, I don’t care.” Beta Dom said. It must be a new week. He throws the cans at the wall just above my head missing it by an inch.
“Also I don’t want to hear your f*****g whimpers today, we have an important guest coming today.”
“Yes Alpha, you won’t even know I’m here,” I said, not allowing my words to quiver. I will not give them the satisfaction of my fear. I am a strong she-wolf, even if they don’t treat me as such, I still have alpha blood coursing through me.
“I hope so or god help you.” Alpha Rick growled. With that he punched me in the gut and laughed, “take it as your official warning.” he said and left me there in the darkness of my thoughts.
“I am all alone in this world. Why couldn’t I have been born into a normal family?”
“You aren’t alone Isabelle, you have me now.” A voice said startling me.
“Wh-who’s there. Show yourself”
“I am your wolf hazel.”
“But why are you here now, I’m not 16 yet”
“Happy birthday Izzy,” she said
“I-its my birthday? How long have I been here?” I asked.
“You’ve been here for a year.” She replied. “ Today your life will change. I can feel it.”
“How can you tell?”
“I just can” and with that, she left.
