“I can’t believe you are married to my best friend.” She stopped and peered intently at him. Joseph’s supposed wife Jane, had been missing for the past two years, she was considered dead by the whole family as her plane crashed in the middle of the grasslands. Saved by Gerald Feneck, she lived with him till she recovered her memory and found out she was a married lady. On her return, she realized the love of her life was now married to her best friend and they just celebrated their second year of being married. “I searched for you everywhere, we all thought you died in the plane, please pardon me my love.” “Spare me that! You two betrayed me and I’ll never forgive you.” Jane looked away from Joseph and slumped in her hair, crossing her arms across her chest *********** Helene Brucks, Jane’s best friend looked her straight into her eyes and seemed not to regret what she did.

Chapter 1: My career and family
My life has been so meaningful with the arrival of Helene Brucks, my best friend, into my life. We met 10 years ago at an event. We both attended the birthday of a mutual friend and since then we've been best of friends. She stood by me when I lost both parents in a car accident. All I had was Kourtney, my baby sister at the time, who was still a student.  Another important personality I met soon after Helene was Joseph Cook. We had been students of the same university but never a day did we exchange a word, he only did that the day we were graduating. He expressed his love for me, though I had been secretly crushing on him. I kept it for myself because mama always said a real lady shouldn't express her feelings for a man. What could I do? I had to keep it for myself. After expressing his feelings for me, I felt like a little baby. I felt happy after knowing the man I had been crushing on also had feelings for me. But what I ignored was that he had once been interested in Helene, my best friend. She never told me anything, she only did after my incident. I dated Joseph Cook for two years, and we decided to make it formal. We had plans on taking our relationship to the next level. That was deciding to get married. It happened one month after he proposed to me,  As usual, my best friend was there for me. She had everything figured out, she planned my wedding like she had been doing it for a decade whereas she was a surgeon, hahaha.....  I'm Jane Co-fields, a twenty-eight-year-old lady, married to the love of her life and living a rosy life, a doctor and a proud one. I feel happy each time I relieve a patient from their illness. It was much more of a calling after I lost my parents. My dream was to save everyone. Hahaha... weird because I could not save everyone, it was nature, we were all called to die some day. After I realized I could not save everyone, I switched my position and decided to become a mid-wife. There, it was much easier, seeing a woman birthing a child was much more appetizing. A smile on her face was all I needed to keep myself going. But there was something. Joseph and I decided not to have our own kids for the moment. We were so very busy with our jobs. Moreover, Joseph couldn't stand his kids being raised by a nanny. If we were to have kids, they would be raised by me. Though Harold Peint, my brother-in-law, wasn't comfortable with our decision, he really couldn't say much because it was our decision. He was married to Carine James, and their marriage was nothing close to ours. They were constantly fighting, coming home late and always creating a scene. He only refused to have kids with his wife because their relationship wasn't stable, but we were calm and understood ourselves. Why then did we not have kids? He always asked. Each time he asked, I told him in life we can't understand everything, no matter how much we try. Hahaha..... true, right? Harold was a breast surgeon, and his wife the hospital's lawyer. Milan hospital was my late father-in-law's hospital. It was his first investment and was established 25 years ago. It was his dream to see his two boys running the hospital in his presence or not. He left us two years ago after I got married and had been trying to know him better. Joseph always had good memories of his dad after he lost him. He became an orphan just like me, but I promised to give him all the love and attention he needed to make him feel better. The hospital became our refuge, we gave our all to save the patients. We loved and cared for them so much, so that, one of my patients, after helping in her delivery, decided to name the baby Jane after me, and when I asked to know why she called her Jane, she said she wanted her to be as loving as me. "If you want your daughter to be as loving and caring , then I'll suggest you call her Cassandra." I said.  "Why do you suggest we call her Cassandra?" The patient asked. "Because Cassandra is my late mother's name and she was the one who taught me how to love and care for others." I said while smiling and handling the baby in my hands. "Then we will call her Cassandra."    The next morning, we were all seated at table having breakfast when Joseph asked me to represent him in a medical seminar which was to be held in Argentina in exactly 2 days. "What baby? And you said it just now? What if I have an appointment with my patients?" I asked calmly, I couldn't afford to miss an appointment with any of the pregnant ladies. "I'm so sorry darling, I know what it means to you. But please can you help me with that? I'm so tight right now and I can't afford to reject the offer." He said simultaneously. "I'll do that for you honey. I'll attend the conference, I hope it won't be long." I asked curiously. "No darling, it's just 3 days. I know 3 days without placing my eyes on you will be like an entire year, but I'll be strong." He said while staring at me. "Okay my love," I said. For love, I was ready to do anything. Though I wasn't happy, I really never had the choice.  After having breakfast, we left for the hospital. On our arrival, Helene was in her office with a patient who had just had surgery 2 weeks ago and came for check-up. "Hello girl." She whispered. "Hello Helene, I was on my way to your office. I'm glad to see you this morning." "Glad to see you too. Is there a problem?" She asked calmly." "No, just to inform you that I'll be traveling to Argentina in two days. Consequently, we won't be able to spend some time together. We will have to reschedule that if you don't mind," I said politely. We had planned on spending some quality time in 3 days, but it was no longer possible as I was traveling in two days. "Oh, I had no idea you were traveling. Well, I will wait till your return." She said as she hugged me. I knew I was leaving for Argentina for a couple of days but before I could, I had been missing my friend and husband already.
