67th Tick: Brother

Captain Wave was on his feet, having gained some distance from the demon general. He was panting, his magic power was not doing too well at all. He looked at the demon general, and just stood there. She had managed to redirect his attack by slashing his arm lightly. She staggered, half her head having been cleaved off. For any mortal being, it meant that they were dead, Captain Wave had won. He lifted up his healed arms in triumph and let out a scream. The demon general’s body fell to the ground with a plop. The demon soldiers started retreating from the area. Thomas stood there, looking at the body of the demon general. It was a gruesome end for a demon general, especially considering how strong she was. He did not mind Captain Wave killing her, from what Thomas could gather, the demon was unable to speak. However, something did strike him as odd. She had sniffed him before deciding to show hospitality, then sniffed Captain Wave before deciding to attack. Just what kind of a demon was she? “It is done!” Captain Wave cheered. “What about the second one?” Thomas asked. “Shouldn’t you be concerned?” The human looked back, then at Thomas. “You prediction seems to be wrong.” Rose’s sixth sense was hardly ever wrong. Thomas felt that something was off, that the battle had not ended. He took a step back when Captain Wave opened his mouth to speak. Red slashes cleaved his body apart. Captain Wave was revived and he looked back, eyes wide. “What the...” the body of the demon general, half her head gone, stood. She looked at Captain Wave with her left eye that was barely working. She lifted her left arm again, slowly before striking down, red slashes cutting off Captain Wave’s head. Captain wave pointed at her. She did not react, either she had not see it or she could not dodge. Captain Wave used his spell Blast. A mirror appeared between them, and the spell was deflected right back at Captain Wave, his own spell taking his head off. He revived and looked at the mirror, scowling. “This isn’t good.” Thomas whispered. “Of course it isn’t.” Captain Wave cursed. “This happened the last time too.” The demon general was kneeling on the ground. She held a small mirror in her left hand. Captain Wave was about to do something, but he found himself unable to move for some reason. Even Thomas was rooted the ground. From the mirror, a hand reached out. It was about the as thin as the female demon’s, and the same skin colour. Before they knew it, a figure crouched beside her, hugging her head close to his chest. The new demon looked over the the both of them, a kind of anger and calmness radiating from him. He waved his hand over the female demon’s face, her face returning to her original state. Her arms was healed and her daggers were back. He stroked her head, whispering, “You don’t always have to do things alone, you know? Mini, are you listening?” He spoke with a soft voice, calming and relaxing. His voice was almost entrancing in a way. He had short white hair cut neatly. His eyes were relaxed, as if he had never known urgency. He wore white black robes, loose on his body. His clothes were loose, highlighting his thinner frame compared to other male demons. He turned to face both Captain Wave and Thomas. He looked at them, his eyes a passive rage. “Would you mind... leaving?” The demon asked politely. The female demon glared at Captain Wave, bearing her sharp teeth. The male demon got on his feet and looked at the ruined landscape. “This is such a mess.” He walked up to Thomas, looking him directly in the eyes. “We have nothing against you, so if you will, can you please leave?” He then faced Captain Wave. “We do have something against you though.” The demon walked close to the human and put his hand on his shoulder. He whispered, “Humans should die.” Captain Wave tried to lift his arm, but his hand was knocked away, his sword falling to the side. The male demon knees him in the gut before grabbing him jacket by the collar. He lifted the captain up and threw him into the ground. Thomas, finally able to move, picked up Captain Wave’s sword and ran at the male demon. He had been quite about it, he did not think the demon would notice. He dug the blade into his shoulder before stopping somewhere near his heart. The demon had looked him straight in the eyes, not even bothering to dodge. He grabbed the blade, pulled out and shattered it. His wounds closed. Thomas stepped back, cursing. Captain Wave revived, but was still in the state of shock. The demon told Thomas, “My name is Gira, my sister Mini. Do you have a problem with the two of us? ClockKeeper, we do not remember ever angering you in any way.” “Zeroth Hour.” Thomas said. Time paused, the demon frozen in place. Thomas grabbed what was left of the sword and slashed through the demon’s neck. He resumed time, but nothing had happened. The demon tilted his head, perfectly fine. “We only despise humans, so I kindly request that you leave before we are forced to get violent.” Thomas knew he needed to end them quickly, but the two of them did not seem to be able to die normally. Thomas knew they were dangerous, something about them felt off. He wondered how strong Mini was, and how strong the demon general they were fighting was. He finally understood what he was faced with. Rose had told him that when she was at Episode’s place, the portraits included two pictures of the same demon. The pictures were not of the one demon, he finally understood it. The demon general was not Mini nor Gira. The demon general position was held by the two of them together, the siblings. Killing one was not effective, they needed to kill both of them, and they had no idea how to do it in the first place.
