Chapter 12

1481 Words
Several weeks passed and Walter and I grew closer. We didn't tell anyone outside our group that Walter was an angel. However, word spread quickly through the kingdom that I had found my true mate.  Everyone was curious as to who he was, but I just told them his name and said we hadn't decided on a date for his coronation.  When werewolves find their mate, they are expected to mark each other. For angels, it's a little different. When angels accept their mates, a matching mark appears on their left shoulder blade. Ours appeared when we woke up the day after we met.  Our marks are so beautiful! Every couple has their own mark, Walter's and mine had the outline of a moon with angel wings on either side. The strange part of the mark was that the moon was a mix of black and white swirls. Walter said that he had never seen a mark that had white in it, they were always black marks.  I hated not being able to show my mark off, but I had agreed it would be best to keep Walter's specie a secret for now. Showing off my mark would enlighten everyone on the angel factor. I hadn't marked him the werewolf way yet. As much as I wanted to, Alex kept saying that it wasn't time yet.  Sean continued to improve. He disliked the therapy he went through for his knee, but I'm so proud of him. Our little family continued to grow closer and Sean became more comfortable with Abrham, Austin, and their parents.  We were all having a celebratory dinner after Doctor Krane told us no more therapy was necessary. Everyone was on their second helping when Walter and I said we wanted to make an announcement.  Walter nodded at me to start. "We would like you all to know that today we also officially adopted Sean as our son." Everyone cheered and Sean came over to hug us. I brushed his tears away and kissed his cheeks. "You are ours now." I whispered to him and put our foreheads together for a moment.  When everyone settled down Walter spoke, "We would like to ask you all something?" They quieted and looked at us. "You know that you are my only family left, the same goes for my mate. We were hoping that Austin and Abrham would be uncles to Sean and-"  I was interrupted by hollering.  Abrham spoke for them, "Of course we will!" I rolled my eyes with a smile. "AND, we want Benjamin, Camilla, Chance, and Sheila to be Sean's grandparents." The former beta and gamma couples looked stunned for a moment and then also cheered and hollered. They came over to hug us and accept .  --- The next day I was on my way to the warrior building. I wanted to check on the Black brothers and see how they were settling in. Terrence had woken last week and was extremely grateful to be rescued and given a second chance. To see the reunion of the brothers was so sweet. They were inseparable, wanting to make up for lost time.  I was about to open the door when Alex spoke.  Alex: Adeera, rogues. South border. I sent a mind link out to the pack, ordering the warriors not on patrol to come and fight. I get there just in time to see the rogues cross over my border. I howled, signaling battle was about to start.  After about ten minutes, a massive group came forward. Almost like they were protecting someone in the middle. One of the rogue wolves shifted to his human form and spoke. "He knows about the angel and his plan to create an army. You will not win this." I released my power, but it was to late. The wolf had foam spilling out of his mouth and he fell dead on the ground. I am so angry! Alex killed everyone who had been protecting the messenger.  When everyone was dead, I felt a hand on my back. Walter had come close and seemed captivated by Alex.  "Help!" Alex picks her head up.  Me: Where did that come from? Alex: I'm not sure. We look around, no one else seemed to have heard.  "What's up, my angel?" We glance at him.  "Help!" There! Alex ran in the direction, soon we smelled Sean.  Shit!  We run faster and see a rogue about to jump on Sean and a young centaur. Just as the rogue jumps, Alex roared, shaking the ground, and tackled the wolf to the ground. All we saw was red as she tore the wolf apart.  When we were done, we found a tree that had extra clothes in it and shifted. I walked out and slowly walked to my son and the young centaur. They both look terrified and were hugging each other.  I kneeled in front of them and let our my peaceful aura. They soon calmed, but the centaur looked nervous.  "Young centaur, you are welcome in my territory. What is your name?" "Your territory?" "Yes, I am the Werewolf Alpha Queen." He started to shake. "I'm not supposed to be here." I rested my hand on his cheek to help calm him. "You are welcome in my territory. No harm will come to you here, you have my word. Now tell me your name." "It's Andrew. I went out exploring, I didn't mean to cross into your territory. I must be a long ways from home." "Do not worry Andrew. We will help you find your way home." I smiled at him. "Mom, we were just playing."  "Sean, you and Andrew can play as much as you want." I hear someone walking our way and get into a defensive position. I soon smelled Walter though and relaxed.  He looked down at the two kids behind me, then at the wolf I tore apart. He came over to hold me close and rested a hand on Sean's shoulder. "Young Centaur, you are quite a ways from home." "Yes, sir. I didn't realize." Andrew hung his head, but I reached over and lifted his chin.  "You are welcome here. Your family must be worried, however. So let us get you home." I looked over at Walter who nodded. I mind linked Abrham and Austin to tell them to send me a few warriors and why.  They insisted that Austin come with us. We began our journey and the young boys were already fast friends.  Wolves and centaurs did not have a history of being allies or friends, but this might just be an opportunity to change that. A few hours later we saw the centaur territory, there were hundred in this pack. We were soon seen and centaur warriors were soon lined up to defend their people and land.  When we were one hundred yards away, I spoke to our group. "Warriors, stay here. There will be no battle today." They did as I said.  Austin, Walter, Sean, Andrew, and I continued forward until we were ten feet away from the centaur warriors.  A woman pushed through the warriors and rushed forward, eyes on Andrew. "Andrew, I have been so worried! Where have you been?" "I'm sorry, mother. I went out exploring and got lost." He got chocked up. "I'm just glad you are safe." She looked to us, "Thank you for bringing my son home. I am Beatrice, Queen of the centaurs."  I c****d my head, "I am Adeera, Alpha Queen of the werewolves." We looked at each other for a minute. We both knew that we were not brought together on accident. "I told your son that he was welcome and safe in my territory. The same is true for his pack." "Mother, she saved me and Sean from a mean wolf!" Beatrice gasped.  "We were being attacked by rogues, one of them must have found the boys playing. I got there before any harm was done."  "Thank you for saving my boy. Would you like to come in and share dinner with us?" As much as I wanted to, we needed to get back before dark since we walked here.  "We would love to, but we walked here and need to make our way back to our territory before dark. Would you except an invitation to join us for lunch on Saturday? Bring some of your pack as well, I'm sure the pups and foals will have a blast." "We accept your invitation, Alpha Queen of the werewolves." She boys her head in respect and I do the same. "Come as early as you like. We will see you in three days, Queen of the centaurs." We smile to each other and Andrew runs over to hug me. "Thank you." "You are welcome."  Andrew and Sean bump their fists and we begin our journey home.
