The night has grown colder. Silence reigned over the woods, giving off a dangerous vibe. I hummed, listening to the wind and the crackling of the leaves. Branches would break, echoing through the woods. "Can someone talk please. The silence is unnerving." Kiley whined.
"Your talking." Edward laughed as Kiley hit him.
A low growl came from my right. Harry's hand went to his gun as he flashed a look towards me. I shook my head and motioned for him to keep walking. "What do you think that was?"
"Another demon most likely. We have protection, don't forget that." I said.
"Right." Harry muttered. "Holy water does the world some tricks."
"Indeed it does." I said.
"James, how are you not cold?" Kiley asked.
"The only thing I feel right now is pain. My hands hurt and my arm feels like it is on fire. I don't have much of a problem with it though. Better than being dead." I said. I could feel her glare at me. "I mean, you guys were purposely leading us the wrong way. Want to explain why?" I asked. I stopped and turned to everyone. Harry leaned against the tree, watching me with amusement. "Probably no big deal really. I mean, it's not like my own sister knew what my parents were planning. Right Bella?"
"What are you implying? That I would willingly get my own family members killed?" Bella snarled.
"Of course not. Why would a Christian girl condemn her sister to a life time of pain? After all, if you came out of here alive, you wouldn't forgive yourself. You see, you would blame yourself for Jacksons death. Day by day, night by night, ever so slowly, you will go insane at the mere thought of Jackson body rotting on cursed land and that you knew what happened and never told anybody. Cursed to live this night repeatedly. You wouldn't want that, now would you?"
"Of course not!" She whimpered.
"Glad we're on the same page, because if we weren't, I'd leave you here, along with your friends. It's not like a demon is going to kill you itself because you haven't kept your promise, right?" Bella said nothing. "Good. You know, there is a reason why grandfather and Uncle Jim trained me in this area instead of you. He knew I was of both blood. A shame that mom cheated on dad."
"How did grandpa know about that?" Bella asked, confusion filling her voice.
"Your eyes. Mom's eyes are blue. Dad's eyes are brown. You guys have green-blue eyes. A trait from your birth dad. I know that dad knows. He still likes you guys better though. Because he knew you would do what needs to be done. Hey look, a clearance. I wonder if we'll be able to see the moon from here."
"That girls mood changes from threatening to pure innocence without a second thought." Emit stated. I snickered.
"I've never seen her that way. She's always so shy and quiet. She never spoke much. I just don't get it. Why is she acting like this now? It makes no sense!" Bella exclaimed.
"I think when it involves your sister, it's not made to make sense. I think we brought this upon ourselves or something. That, or she is just trying to act all tough and it is working. What do we do?" Emit asked Bella. I looked at Harry and smirked.
"It's always the quiet and shy ones that you have to look out for, don't you agree, Harry?" I asked.
"Boy do I ever. Huh, you can see the moon from here. It's also a red moon. I pretty sure it will reach it's at midnight if I remember correctly." Harry said.
"You are correct. It's why the ritual must take place tonight. It's bothering me though." I said.
"What do you mean?" Harry asked.
"Why is it so important that the ritual must take place tonight? On Halloween no less? Must be a very big deal." I said.
"I agree. I think we may have about two and a half hours left. What do you think?" Harry asked.
"I think that if Edward continues to point that gun at your head, he'll be regretting it." I snarled.
"How the f**k di-" Harry suckered punched Edward. Harry grabbed the gun and tossed it to me. I then pointed the gun at Edward.
"You see. When I was researching in the library, I found some rather interesting information. Your family and my family have known each other for generations. Funny ain't it. You think you know someone, but it turns out you really don't. You see, I would prefer not to have killed you, but I can see that you are going to be a danger to Harry and I. I apologies for what I am about to do. May God grant you mercy, or should I say the devil. Goodbye, Edward." The sound of the gun echoed through the woods. Bella and Livy screamed while the others stayed silent.
"Wow, I don't think I could ever get that out of my head. Thanks for that, Jamie." Harry turned to the others and raised a brow at them. "Anyone else want to try and kill me before the night is over or should we continue towards the river and find out what else we are going to encounter before the night is through?"
"Walking." Were the replies.
"Glad we can agree. Jamie, the more I know you, the more terrified I am of you." Harry stated.
"Well, it is said that you should always be afraid of a woman." I grinned. "Come on, I have a feeling that more things are going to happen before midnight and none of us are going to like how that one ends."
"My sister is officially scary and I don't care what anyone thinks." Bella declared fearfully.
"I can't believe Edward was going to kill me! He would stoop so low just to do that?" Harry questioned to himself.
"Perhaps he saw you as a threat and thought it would be better taken care of if he killed you. Not that it would have done much. If anyone saw you as a threat, then you'd be dead by now." I said.
"That does not make me feel better, Jamie. It terrifies me actually. Cut it down on the creepy vibes, will ya?" Harry chuckled.
"Sorry, I spent too much time around my grandfather and uncle. You can blame them for this" I told him.
"Trust me, Jamie, I do." Harry said. "I really do."
