"Jen," Jackie called her attention. She looked at her.
"Yes? Is there any problem?" Wondering why Jackie's face is serious.
"I saw your ex-boyfriend, Henry, with a girl," she said. "Remember him? We caught him making out with the varsity muse last year."
"Oh, that guy again." She shook her head. "He can't stick to one girl, and all he wants is s*x. I didn't do
what he wanted that's why he played with Ashley."
"He's really something. I think the girl said she's pregnant that's why Henry was so bad mood. He dragged her away from the shop going to their cottage. He wants to abort the baby but the girl wants to keep her child. He left the poor girl alone."
"He will never change. He's really like that," Jen said. "I'm glad I was not his victim, but poor girl. If she only knew he's a moron..." She shoved the sand using her foot and kicked hard. "He's an ass."
"Who's a moron and an ass?" Steve approached them, carrying a plastic bucket and a sand scoop.
"Oh, my ex-boyfriend. He's nothing." Jen laughed. "We'll make a same castle first, Jackie." She waved her hand and walked away with Steve.
"What's wrong?" Janine came by her side, together with Mark.
"Something happened. I saw Jen's ex-boyfriend earlier. It was nothing. Come on, let's swim!" Jackie just ignored what she saw earlier.
They all had fun the whole day. They spent most of their time swimming and making sand castle. They stayed on the seaside until evening with a bonfire, singing and dancing.
"This is life," Jackie said. She sipped her champagne.
"I hope this won't end. I just want a peaceful, happy life." Jen stood up and walked near the bonfire to dance. The music was playing from their portable stereo. She was intoxicated by the mood and the wine she's drinking. Steve joined her and they danced to the song.
I am your señorita
Dancing like Cleopatra
Shaking my hips
While pouting my lips
Fall in love with me
Come to me, my baby
I want to be with you
And make love with you
Let's share the night
while the stars are bright
Hug me so tight
Let's make it tonight
Janine was just smiling while watching her friends the whole time. It's rare to have a moment like this, seeing her friends happy and free.
"Are you happy and enjoying our vacation?" Mark asked. He sat beside Janine sitting on a broken tree branch.
"Yes, I am," she said. "Thank you for inviting us over. This vacation really helps a lot. We need some fresh air and new environment."
"Just enjoy while it lasts." Mark handed her a glass of champagne. "Here."
"Thank you." She took a sip. "It tastes good."
"I love you, Janine," Mark said. "I promise I will love you and respect you. Iwon't take advantage of you." He stared deeply in Janine's eyes.
"I trust you." She smiled.
Mark's face went closer to her. She didn't avoid him. His lips touched hers gently. It was their first kiss and boyfriend and girlfriend. Mark moved back a bit. "I will always be right here for you. I'll be faithful to you."
"And I promise my loyalty to you."
"Hey, love birds," Jackie said, she sat beside Janine on the other side.
"Are you tipsy?" Janine laughed at her.
"No, I'm not. I'm just happy." She sipped from her glass of champagne. "I wish I could find a man like Mark. Loyal, faithful, kind."
"Why? My cousin is like that." Mark pointed at Marvin, dancing with Steve and Jen.
"What? We're just friends. Forever." She showed her bracelet with forever written on it.
"Is that new? I just noticed that now." Janine checked the bracelet. "I also want this!"
"He said he wanted to have a pair of this, then he brought two for us. He's wearing one." She pointed on Marvin's arms raised up in the air while dancing.
"He likes you," Mark said.
"Really? I never heard of that." She chuckled.
"He grew in a different environment. He has his own way of telling a girl how he feels for her. For you." Mark pointed at her bracelet. "It's actually not normal for him to wear a pair of something with a girl, but he did. He's probably adjusting to our culture."
"I don't know..."
"Do you like him?" Mark asked.
She couldn't respond. She doesn't want to admit it but she can feel it. Marvin is catching her attention. She probably likes him. "You know what, it's getting late. We are leaving early tomorrow, right? Let's go and get rest. I feel dizzy." Jackie stood up and started walking towards the hotel.
Mark and Janine just laughed at her. "She maybe right. We need to rest." Mark stood up and helped Janine.
"Guys, we're heading back to the hotel," Janine called everyone's attention.
"Where's Jackie?" Marvin asked.
"She headed back to the hotel, she's dizzy." Janine waved her hand to them.
"I'm going back, too." Marvin left the bonfire and let Steve and Jen continue their dancing.
"Why? You were having fun there," Mark teased his cousin.
"I'd rather take a rest." He grinned. "I'm the driver tomorrow."
They headed back to their rooms. "Janine, may I come in to your room? I just want to say good night to Jackie first." Mark scratched his head.
"Sure, go ahead." She smiled. She stayed at the hallway. "I'll give them some time alone," she said to Mark.
"Thank you." He knocked at the door before coming in. "Jackie," he called her. He closed the door behind him.
"What are you doing here?" she was shocked seeing Marvin in their room.
"I just want to say good night. Janine's right outside with Mark."
"O-okay, good night." She smiled awkwardly.
Marvin walked closer to her and gave her a big hug. She was shocked and frozen at his gesture. It's probably his gestures to anyone. He also hugged Steve at the airport, she thought.
"Good night," Marvin said. He stepped back a bit. "Sleep well."
"Thank you." She waved her hand to him.
Marvin opened the door and stepped out of the room. What was that? she asked herself. She just shook her head and went straight to the bathroom.
