More Punishment

Ben and I finally made it to his place and things were still awkward between us. He got out of his car and waited for me to do the same. We went inside and he finally spoke.

"You should get some rest," he murmured. I was okay with his distance but then he continued "The guest bedroom is ready for you." I tried to look him in the eye but he wouldn't turn to look back. I walked off to the guest bedroom with my head to the ground. I noticed a fresh pair of joggers and a t-shirt on the bed. He had moved the small amounts of clothes I had here to this room. I realized he was already mad at me for telling him I was going to stay at the apartment. He wasn't just mad about what he saw. I got angry and I wanted to leave but how exactly was I going to achieve that. I didn't change my clothes and it was only four o clock. Don't get me wrong this guest bedroom has everything I could hope for. It wasn't just a plain room with a bed and a dresser. But I wasn't in the mood to watch tv or read. I left my laptop in the living room and I didn't want to leave my cell. I looked at my phone and realized it was at 30% battery life. I looked around and of course, I didn't see a charger. My charger was in my laptop case. I hopped on the bed and sat there and sighed. I was getting hungry. I hadn't eaten in the last two hours and all I ate this morning was a muffin and coffee. Another forty minutes passed until Ben came and knocked on the door.

"Let's go eat," he said swiftly. I didn't say anything and just got up and walked over to the kitchen. Ben closely following. Lily was home now so I knew he would act a bit nicer in front of her. Funny thing is he wasn't nice, he was just cold and polite. He sat Lily closer to him so he could feed her. I always did that so now I had nothing to preoccupy my time with and he didn't need to look over to me and could focus all of his attention on Lily. I looked down at my plate. We were eating meatloaf, potatoes, and green beans. It was really delicious and I began to wonder which one of the desperate housewives had cooked this for us. I mean for him. I don't why I bothered getting jealous for a single moment. I should be angry at him but the way he is gently giving Lily her food is mesmerizing. He is a good dad and a good person. Why does he have to have so many secrets? I didn't know if whether or not I wanted to eat fast or slow. Both would be torture. Lily finished eating first and he picked her up and put her in her playpen. He cleaned up her side and chair and then continued eating. The silence was killing me. I was full so I took a sip of my water and then went over to put my dishes in the sink. I was getting ready to wash them when Ben just suddenly said: "leave them."

I felt a small pain in my heart. I sighed and walked back to the guest room. I still didn't want to watch tv so I grabbed my phone and figured I would take the risk and drain my battery. I had a few texts from the girls so I replied to them first. I had 3 missed calls from Liam. I wasn't sure if I should call him back or not. I set my phone down and just closed my eyes. I felt the desperate need to end this day as quickly as possible so what better way to do it then to go to sleep. At first, my brain wouldn't let me stop thinking about Ben and what happened. Then, I did start to drift off to sleep but some time later I felt someone pick me up. I wanted to open my eyes but I knew who it was so I didn't want to look into his eyes. I then was placed on a bed and I knew I was in his room. I felt his strong arms come up behind me and he whispered in my ears.

"I was so worried, I don't want anything to EVER happen to you." He kissed me on my cheek and I soon fell asleep.

The next morning, I looked over and Ben was gone. There was a note on the nightstand.

"Be home later, watch Lily for me." I didn't know what was more upsetting. He knew I had class today so what did later really mean and two, of course, I would watch Lily. I sighed and placed the note in the trash. I went over to check on Lily and she was still asleep. I went to take a shower and then put on the jogger and shirt Ben left for me in the guest bedroom. I waited until Lily woke up and then had breakfast with her. As Lily played in her playpen, I called Kim. She told me a few people saw Hunter leave in handcuffs from our apartment last night so the rumor mill was circulating. That's probably why Liam called me. She also told me our professor canceled our morning class so I didn't have to worry about that. I was relieved but who knew how long Ben was going to give me the cold shoulder.

"Hey, what the hell are you guys doing," Kim said over the phone.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Melody, opened the door someone was knocking and a bunch of guys just came in," Kim said.

"Omg, what do they want? What are they doing?"

"There grabbing your stuff and taking it outside," Kim said. "There moving your stuff out of your room."

"WHAT!"
