Turning Point

1065 Words
I sat for hours looking at the computer screen. Her eyes were mocking me, telling me that he had just wanted me because I looked like her. I still didn't know what to feel. Kim had called the police station and tried to talk to the lead detective on the case but he was out on another assignment at the moment. She left him a message to call us back but that could take weeks and in the meantime, I was lost in what to do. We decided to go out for coffee and have some lunch. They were going to go to class after and I would skip mine and just chill at the apartment. I liked being here with my friends. It was nice and normal. My life with Ben is anything but normal. We were sipping on our when Melody nudges me. "Hey, look it's Liam," she giggles. I sigh and don't turn around to confirm. "He hates me," I said. "Oh, please, he is in love with you, whatever happened he must just want to talk," Melody assured. "He has been avoiding me," I said, "And I'm not really in a rush to speak to him either." "Why?" Melody asked. "Doesn't matter," I said. "Well, he looked over here and quickly looked away. He must want to say something," Kim noticed. "We both need time. We will talk again someday," I told them. "Well, we got to go to class, see you later?" Kim asked because she assumed I would head to Ben's later. "I'll be here," I winked. I wanted to stay and hang with them. I figured I'd call Ben when I get back to the apartment and hopefully, he understood I needed time with my friends. I was leaving money on the table to pay for our food when suddenly I hear someone call to me. "Well, well, hello gorgeous," Hunter said. I felt the need to run away or hit him. "What do you want?" I asked him. "What, can't you talk to anyone anymore, we are friends," "We are not friends," I told him as I started to walk away from him. He grabbed my arm. "Come on, don't be like that," I shoved him off of me. "f**k OFF!" I continued to walk back to the apartment when I looked back I noticed he wasn't following me so I felt a little calmer. As soon as I got to the apartment I called Ben. He didn't pick up so I texted him. I told him I was going to stay at the apartment tonight and come by his place tomorrow afternoon. I headed to take a shower. I did miss the dual head steam shower at Ben's place. And I did miss Ben too. I got out of the shower and heard someone knock on the door. I knew Melody usually forgets her keys and I figured it was just her. Sometimes, Melody has fewer classes then Kim. "Hey, forget your keys again," I joked as I began to open the door. "Oh no dear, Melody is in her last class and Kim went to the library," Hunter said. He pushed the door and stepped inside. "I saw them while I was heading home and then figured you were home alone." "LEAVE, NOW!" I shouted. "Oh come on, let's play," I tried to push him out but he grabbed my arms. He closed the door with his foot and pushed me inside a bit. "Hunter, stop," I begged. "Oh, I have never seen this side of you," he laughed. "You take charge and know what you want but begging and being timid. I like it." "I am warning you," I said with a shaky voice. "Your scared, but don't be. You know I can be gentle," Hunter said. His voice and stare did scare me. I knew he was stupid and crazy enough to do something awful. He stepped closer and I walked backward. I wanted to run to my room and grab my phone. Would I make it in time? I was about to take another step but Hunter yanked me onto his chest. "You always did feel so soft," Hunter whispered. "Stop!" I yelled. He kissed me and I tried to push him away and pull back my head. The door flung open and Ben came running to us. "YOU SON OF A b***h!" Ben punched Hunter in the face and then picked him up by his hair and punched him again. Hunter fell to the ground and Ben began to kick him over and over again. "Ben stop, that's enough, please," I pleaded. "Don't make this worse. Ben looked over to me as those words left my mouth. His eyes filled with so much rage. "Worse, I will make this worse, Sky he could have -" Ben stopped before he finished his sentence. I knew he was worried about me and angry. Melody and Kim finally came home and Ben was on the phone his foot laying on top of Hunter's face. Melody and Kim saw me and ran to me. "Are you okay?" they asked me. "Yeah, I'm fine," "Come, let's get you dressed," Kim said. I was still only wearing a towel. I walked into my room and got dressed. When we walked back out the cops were here. Ben was talking to them and they picked up Hunter and took him away. "Doesn't Sky need to give a statement or press charges," Kim asked. "It's taken care of," Ben hissed. He was still angry. The three of us looked at each other. It was at this moment I witnessed with my own eyes his power and influence. "Let's go," Ben said. I didn't want to leave and I was now more scared than ever. "SKY." I moved away from my friends not before giving them each a hug. "Call us later," Kim said. Ben grabbed me by the waist and pushed me out the door. I wanted to cry but I didn't know if I could. I was in shock and confused about all of this. "Get in the car," Ben said as he held the passenger side door open. I slipped inside and he drove us back to his place. He was quite the whole way there. I didn't know it then but this was a turning point in our relationship.
