His Special Mate

Chapter 3

Maverick’s POV:

I was watching her combat skills. My heart swells with so much pride. She was going to be one tuff mate. No one will measure up to her. She will make some strong pups.

‘Agreed,’ Titan yelped, happily.

Jaxon was holding my strong mate, by her hair. Why hasn't she shifted? It would be easier to do this while shifting. What is that smell; herbal and poisonous? Wolfsbane, I growled loudly and furiously. It was a thunderous growl that shook the trees and the surrounding houses. Jaxon let my mate go, throwing her into the nearby tree. She was struggling to get up, but tried her hardest to get to her feet. Her body finally gave up and she collapsed to the ground. Titan was whimpering in my head for his mate.

‘Help mate!’ Titan pleaded.

Jaxon and Makalia froze, cowering in fear. I went over to my mate. I can see her face clearly now. OMG, it’s Adeline, my Beta’s younger sister is my mate.

‘Mom, Dad meet me at the pack hospital, NOW!’ I linked both of them, my voice cracking at the end.

‘Maverick, what’s wrong?’ my mother’s voice filled my head.

My aura slipped and both Makalia and Jaxon fell to the ground, whimpering in fear.

I kneeled down on the ground, pulling Adeline up and close to my chest. I am trying to be as gentle as possible. Holding my mate this close, was making Titan do a happy dance. I felt the back of her head and it was bloody to the touch. I pulled my hand away to examine it, only for it to be covered in her blood. A loud growl rumbled through my chest.

‘Titus, I need you and three others to the east side of the property, NOW!’ I growled through the link.

‘Yes, Alpha,’ Titus responded.

Within the time I carefully got Adeline into my arms, Titus was standing in the clearing with four of his top warriors. I draped her right hand across her chest. Her hand touched my shirt and the brass knuckles instantly touched my skin through my shirt, making me flinch. I pulled her arm back and noticed the brass knuckles on her hand. Smart girl. Never go anywhere unprepared. My beautiful mate was within arms reach this whole time and I did not even notice.

‘Take them to the cells, for attempting to harm the future Luna,’ I mind-linked all four of them.

All four of the warriors looked shocked for a minute. Titus was the first to snap out of the shock.

“Yes, Apha,” he responded, bowing his head. The other four warriors muttered, ‘yes, alpha’ with a bow.

I ran to the pack hospital. My feet were running as fast as they could go. I was trying hard not to jostle my beautiful Addy too much.

‘Please save her, moon goddess. I need her, please,’ I prayed silently. I finally could see the hospital door up ahead.

‘MOVE!’ I ordered everyone who dared to block my path to my destination.

I ignored their sorry excuses as I continued to run to the doors. I pushed the door open quickly. Not caring if I hit anyone on the other side.

“Doctor. I need a doctor NOW,” I demanded to the closest nurse.

Another nurse hurried a gurney over to where I was. I was looking for Dr. Robert Blackwell, grandfather of that worthless grandson who hurt my precious mate. If it wasn’t for his grandson, this would not be my first encounter with my mate. Titan was growling angrily, he was out for blood. Dr. Blackwell finally appeared, trying to grab Adeline from my arms.

“Alpha, put her down, so I can treat her. She is human and will need to be treated with caution,” Dr. Blackwell tried to explain.

“YOU’RE NOT TOUCHING MY MATE,” Titan came forward and growled.

The whole hospital fell silent insistently. Everyone close by bowing in submission, but their mouths hanging open, clearly shocked by my words.

‘Son, what is going on…’ Maximus mind-linked as the doors behind me opened and he and my mother walked in.

“Luna, Alpha,” everyone hesitantly greeted them with a bow.

“I assure you I will give our future Luna great care,” Dr. Blackwell reassured me.

“Future Luna?” my dad questioned, stunned for a second, before looking at Lily and then him. His lips turned up into a smile.

“Oh my god, Addy. What happened to my goddaughter?” Lily cried, her eyes filled with tears as she saw her lifeless body in my arms.

“Son, let Dr. Blackwell treat her. Lily will go with me and watch her,” Maximus offered, putting a hand on my shoulder. Lily nodded in agreement.

I reluctantly put Adeline down on the gurney. Titan howled with sadness.

‘My mom and Kadee will protect her. She loves her like her own blood daughter,’ I assured Titan. Titan just whimpered in response as we watched the three nurses, Dr. Blackwell and my mom scurried down the hall to the main operating room.

“Son, let's go in here and talk,” dad told me, grabbing my shoulder to push me in the direction he wanted. I didn't even try to fight him. I was worried about my mate. I do not think I will survive if she doesn’t. I watched Adeline grow up. I watched her deal with countless bullies and dirty looks for having no wolf. Honestly, I could care less about her not having a wolf. I always felt drawn to her when she was a baby. I never understood until now. She sure did grow up to be such a beauty for sore eyes.
