Nine POV
Miss Leah is very beautiful. She has long blonde hair with set of perfect blue eyes, her body has the perfect hour glass shape. She looks like a model and also an angel. Any man would want to fall in love with her but the issue is Mason. He hates physical touch and never allowed even Leah touch him in my past life.
Leah is clinging to my left hand after I greeted her. She still thinks of me as a fine man. I laughed sarcastically as I gently pulled my hand from her grip.
"You have still not told me your name. You're so handsome" she folded her hands. She must have said this to so many men already.
"Did you come here to see the Alpha?" I asked her and she nodded her head.
"But, I didn't come alone. The priest is in there talking about the ritual in two days. If I become the moon guardian, Mason will finally look at me. Hmph!" She turned her head away.
I sighed in disappointment. I already dislike her. She's so clingy and obsessed with the man that doesn't love her. If I tell her the type of man she is, she'll clearly still not give up.
"Leah, let's go!" A voice came from behind.
I and the other eradicators turned and saw the priest with the Alpha. Huh?
The priest is a young person. He must be the same age with Mason but, why is he staring at me? He's a priest, he must have powers. Does he know I'm a girl?
"Hmmm, you have a new eradicator?" He asked.
"You should start heading back to the temple, Isaiah!"
Mason folded his hands and closed his eyes. It was evident that he's tired already. I've met him twice in one day already. I can't contain my joy. Leah jumped on him and hugged him tight, pressing her whole chest on his body.
Fuck! I want to push her away from him but, I contained my anger.
"Leah, come now. Let's go" the priest spoke.
"Can't I stay here for one day? Please" she pouted, holding him tighter.
"It's against the rules"
"It's against the rules"
Isaiah and I chorused at the same time. I lowered my head.
"Pardon me"
"It's fine. Even if Mason doesn't introduce you to me, I hope you follow him during the ritual" he said, touching my shoulder.
Mason? They are on first name terms, that means they are close with each other.
"Don't touch my men, Isaiah. Just leave already" he gently pushed Leah away.
Isaiah sighed and left with Leah, his eyes were still on me. Maybe he already knows I'm a girl.
"You may all return back to your quarters" Mason yelled. We all bowed and turned to leave, till I heard...
"Not you Nine" he said.
I froze and moved closer to him.
"Do you have any order for me, master?"
"I said you should call me Alpha. You're no longer a slave" he reminded me. I nodded slowly.
"Yes Alpha" I spoke in a low tone.
"You must be lacking in stamina but you fight and kill like a professional assassin. Do you know the rumour going around about you?" He asked.
Rumour? I've never once cared about it, now or my past life.
"I have no idea, Alpha"
"They say you're too handsome and blinding the maids with your beauty" he said. I cleared my throat, hiding back my laugh, but I couldn't hide the smile.
"I didn't know stuff like that is going around. I'll be careful, Alpha" I said, with my finger in my mouth.
"You should go back..." He touched my hair.
Huh? This is the same man that hate people touching him. Why is he touching me?
He carried his hand away and turned to leave.
"Don't be late tomorrow. You have loads of work waiting for you"
"I...I won't be late Alpha" I bowed. I watched till he disappeared into thin air. He really touched me. I almost didn't want to believe it. I haven't felt this way, there was a tingling sensation in my body. What exactly is it?
Is it love? No way!
The reason why I'm attracted to Mason is that I want to protect him with my life. Not that I have any reason to, but I just want to do that. There's no way there'll be any intimate relationship between us.
Mason POV
A man? I touched a man's head. I haven't even touched a woman before. Why did I do it? Why am I attracted to Nine? He's handsome and smart, I know but why did I feel a burning sensation when Leah touches him. When I see him with other men, it makes me burn with... Jealousy?
I've never been jealous before because I got everything I didn't ever wanted. Respect, women, love, even the throne. So, I have no reason to be jealous. But, why is a single weak man making me jealous?
I went back to my office and sat on my leather chair. I grabbed a stick of cigarette and lit it with my pinky finger. Since I'm the Alpha, my late father passed the Alpha abilities to me. That's the ability to control fire.
All of this supposed to belong to Gomez but, he didn't deserve it. That's what my father said. Besides that, the other Alphas didn't even want him to have the throne and they picked me instead. Since day one, Gomez have been after my life, trying to kill me.
Collins entered when the office was filled with smoke. He was holding more documents.
"After hunting when the moon is up, you'll have to go to the temple for the ritual. Leah and some other girls may get their wolves on that day. If the moon guardian is found, there'll be more work for you, especially your wedding planning" Collins sighed.
"You don't have to spell it out. I just hope Gomez doesn't try anything on that day. Have you found the Ninah girl?" I asked.
"None of the maids know of anyone called Ninah. She must have faked her name to escape from Gomez" Collins added. I still don't want to believe it. It's better to be safe than sorry.
"Have you looked into Nine's background?" I asked again. Since Nine is going to be my assistant soon, I better find out about his past. Does he have any debt? What was his life like?
"He's from the assassin house. He's the smartest and the most special person to the boss" Collins said.
"This will lead to another dispute if the boss finds out I'm with his special property. We have to make sure he doesn't find out"
"It's too late. He already knows. Yesterday, when we went for a celebration, one of them saw him. Nine told her that he's no longer returning to the assassin house and declared you his new master" Collins explained. His tone already changed. Does he feel sorry for him?
"Should I make I go back to the...?"
"You mustn't! Nine is a good person, it'll be a waste of talent to send him back Alpha!" He yelled. Seem like I wasn't wrong. Collins has never said good thing about someone else before and Nine is the first person he spoke about.
Why am I angry? Does Collins have feelings for Nine? Why does it concern me?
"I'm not sending Nine away, since he said I'm his master now, I'll have to protect what belongs to me" I said. Collins heaved a breath of relief. I continued smoking, looking outside the window.
"Keep finding that Ninah girl. Make sure she's found" I said. Collins bowed and left. The office was silent again. Should I have made Nine start work today? Well, I'll see him tomorrow again.
.
.
Tomorrow came slowly and Nine is in my office. He looked prepared and energetic. I already prepared a desk and chair for him at the side of my office.
"Good morning, Alpha" he greeted, with a calm face. Yesterday when he smiled, I saw his dimple and realized how cute he is. He's just so small and delicate. But he's a man, I better keep reminding myself about that. I can't have anything to do with a man.
"Welcome, Nine. That's your seat over there, edit those documents. They are much, but try to finish them"
"Yes, Alpha!" He didn't complain but left to start working. He looked focus. It's like he has done stuff like this before. My eyes were just fixed on him. I don't want him to leave my side, that's why I gave him a lot of work.
I tried to concentrate, but it was impossible. Have I fallen in love with a man? No way!
Collins entered the office.
"The Alphas have finally arrived" he said.
"Lead them to the meeting room. I'll be with them shortly" I said. Collins turned to leave. I watched as he stole glances from Nine before leaving but Nine was focused on his job.
It's another time of the month to have meetings with the Alphas. Their pack has solely submitted to my pack. Their daughters are the candidates for the next moon guardian. So, I'm supposed to marry one of their daughter.
In every month's meeting, all they talk about is who the next guardian is and stuff pertaining to their Pack and companies.
"Nine?" I called his name. He raised his head and looked at me. His eyes were beautiful.
'f**k! What am I thinking?'
"I'll be heading to the meeting room. You should stay here and finish your work" I said. He nodded and watched me leave.
The eradicators outside followed me to the meeting room. They were all there, arguing among themselves again. These old men has turned that to their hobby anytime they meet. Some of the Alphas are already dead, they've passed their mantle to their sons.
As soon as I entered the room, they kept quiet and stood up in respect. That's how it has been for generations, my Pack has the temple and it's meant to be respected by all other Packs. Not all pack has submitted to us, some are even our enemy.
"Please, have your seat" I said as I sat majestically. They obeyed and the meeting started.
