Valkyrie POV

The next day goes by quickly, the girls and I get the food ready as the guest start arriving. The Alpha ceremony is tomorrow night and Liam still hasn’t rejected me. I’ve been preparing myself for when the time comes. I wonder if he will just mark her while we are still mates. I shiver at the thought of that happening. I won’t let that happen, I’ll just have to reject him first. I’m in the kitchen making dinner for the pack and the guest who have arrived already when Alpha, Luna Karen, Lylith and Sherrie walk in. “Slave, The Lycan King will be here tomorrow afternoon for the ceremony I expect everything to be in order for his arrival understood” “yes sir which room would you like me to get together for him” I ask. I had to stay out of trouble and lay low I planned on leaving tomorrow and never seeing any of this horrible pack again for a long while. “He has requested one of the houses on the territory you don’t need to worry about getting it together as I’ve already got the other omegas on it you just need to cook and work the ceremony. Stay in the shadows I don’t want anyone to see you, you’re far to embarrassing for my pack” Alpha Brad snarls looking at me disgusted walking out the kitchen as the three she wolves snicker behind him.

Luna Karen looks at me with a smirk on her face “pathetic excuse of a shifter you are, I don’t know why we bother to keep you here we should’ve killed you even your parents didn’t want you. We both know that’s the real reason they left you in the woods” I wasn’t shocked by her cruel words but that didn’t stop the burning sensation of anger In my stomach. Valley was furious at what this woman said which only fueled my anger hers blending into mine. “My parents were killed, you’re just projecting because you’re a sorry excuse of a mother” I growl out immediately regretting it. My big mouth always seems to get me in trouble. The three of them look at me gobsmacked “Don’t you ever! kick “Ever” punch to the abdomen “Ever” slap to the face “talk to me like that again you mutt” She snarls grabbing me by the face her pointy nails digging in my cheeks before shoving my face away from hers. Lylith and Sherrie laughing as they follow Luna Karen out the room.

Valley was fighting to claw her way out and tear them to shreds but I had to use every bit of strength I had to keep her hidden until we could get away. I picked myself up off the floor and made my way out of the packhouse into the forest it was dark out and the pack was having dinner so I should be safe to heal in peace without any run ins. I slowly wobbled deep in the forest. Going as far as my legs would carry me before collapsing on the forest floor. Trees surrounding me the only light was the moon high in the sky. Tomorrow would be a full moon so it was high in the sky tonight. “Valley do you think we will make it away from here” i ask my wolf. “ I know we will, I know we are meant for greatness. We will make it out of here and we will be back to seek our revenge” she tells me matter of factly.

I hear leaves crunching and jump up looking all around me. I see Liam walking towards me smirking. My heart starts racing in my chest. “hey little mate” he grabs my arms pinning them to my side. “Wh-what do you want” i ask him. “Just wanted to see you alone one last night before I become a mated man” Liam chuckles knowing how much hearing that would hurt me. Oh god I knew it he wasn’t going to reject me. He was going to let mating with another break me completely if not kill me. “I Valkyrie Walker reject you Liam Ford as my mate” I blurt out quickly. He falls to his knees clutching his chest in pure agony. I turn my back and run away towards the pack house and into my room. I lay down on the cot closing my eyes. “Tomorrow night we will be free Valkyrie just a little while longer sweet girl” Valley tells me as I drift off to sleep.

I wake up to my alarm beeping. Time to get up and make breakfast I make my way to the kitchen and get started on breakfast today I had two omegas helping me since it was the day of the ceremony. I was only needed for breakfast and dinner they would be taking care of lunch and I was to stay hidden apparently I was to much of an embarrassment to be seen as part of this pack. Well I won’t be for long. Time couldn’t move fast enough. We made Waffles, eggs, bacon,sausage,grits, hashbrowns with chopped up fresh fruit and juices and water. I left the omegas to set up the buffet table to go into my room and stay out of sight I couldn’t afford to mess up now. I had to much on the line for tonight. I lay back down on the cot and fall back asleep for a few more hours.

I wake up and look at the alarm it’s 3 o’clock the Lycan king should be here by now. I should start preparing dinner for the ceremony. It gets dark early here so we start the ceremony at 6pm. 3 hours and I’ll be gone. I make my way to the kitchen and start prepping the food for tonight as four omegas come into the kitchen to help. We spend the next 2 and a half hours making various meats and sides. Omegas coming in and out of the kitchen getting everything gathered in the back yard.

When it was time for the ceremony everyone started to gather out back of the packhouse. I stayed in my room waiting for the time. It was 6:20 and when I was sure everyone was out there I grabbed my small backpack that I put together that contained two outfits and a necklace I was left with from my mother. I remember glimpses of the night they were murdered and It made my blood boil. Alpha Brad thinks I was too young to remember but I know he murdered my family. I snuck around the edge of the packhouse peaking out at the crowd gathered around the stage that was placed on the lawn. Right where I was chained to the ground in silver a few days ago. Valley healed me as much as she could but I still had a few visible scars. As soon as I hear them announce Liam and Sherrie on the stage I take off running in the forest it’s now or never. I run as fast as my legs can take me i don’t know how long I’ve been running but I know I’m not in the pack territory anymore. I see a lake flowing the currents are fast but luckily there’s a fallen tree I can use to guide me across. Just as I climb in I feel a crippling pain rip through my abdomen burning my whole body. Oh goddess no, Liam didn’t accept my rejection we were still mates and he was marking another. I couldn’t feel Valley anymore. I was going to die. That was my last thought as I lost consciousness feeling the water drift my body with the current.
