***Hazel***
As usual, I went for a morning run, and when I came back, folks gave me weird looks.
The word had already spread that the Alpha had found his fated mate, so I didn't need anyone to inform me.
The worst part was that Liam did it in our garden, where everyone would have seen it, so he didn't even bother to hide his feelings for Red. I wonder if the pack members were relieved that their Alpha had found his fated mate and would therefore be stronger.
I pondered whether they would care about me or prefer that their Alpha pursue his fated mate.
Sincerely, I wondered which side they would take.
When I got home, I saw Liam eating breakfast. I hadn't talked to him and wasn't going to since I didn't know what to say.
I immediately headed to the bedroom to take a shower and get ready for the day. We both had meetings to go to together, but even though I really don't want to go, I had already given Luna Crystal my word that I would.
She was the closest friend I had, and I had a sneaking suspicion that my life would soon resemble hers.
Alpha Henry, Crystal's husband, moved in together five years ago after finding his fated mate.
She had never confided in me, but I know that she struggles greatly to cope because her husband only takes her to meetings and parties when it suits him.
In an attempt to save time, I quickly showered. I chose to dress simple, as always.
I attempted to look normal in those situations, despite Liam's dislike of makeup and skimpy attire, but I no longer felt like it. Red was extremely attractive, and I could never match her.
Liam was sitting on the couch when I stepped into the room after taking a shower. I shrugged him off and proceeded to find something casual to wear.
He approached me, put his arm around me, and planted a kiss on my neck. I shoved him away.
"After what you did last night, don't touch me with those hands of yours," I clenched my teeth and commanded. I was furious.
"Please Hazel, please I held back even though I and my wolf wanted more, I held back," he replied.
I explained what he meant when he stated, "Held back, as in you didn't put your c**k in her, but you did everything else," and he fell silent.
I told him, "Get dressed, we have a meeting to attend," and he grasped my hand.
"Please Hazel, it has been moved to this evening. I just stood there staring at him as he repeated, "I'm really sorry. Please just hear me out."
I murmured to him, and he hugged me even harder,
"Do not use that word anyhow Liam; sorry means you won't do it again and I know you would, so there is no need apologizing to me."
He pleaded, "Please Hazel, I know I hurt you, I'm very sorry," as tears filled his eyes. "Last night, I felt foolish for leaving my Luna sitted by herself at the table and going outside to flirt with an unknown person in the garden, only because it was fate's will. I did not intend to touch her. Even more than that, I wanted to tell her that we couldn't work together since I already had you. Hazel you are my strength, and I was fine with that. I still couldn't do it; I couldn't.
I truly need your assistance, Hazel. When I woke up this morning, I had planned to go to Moon peak pack to reject her, but I was unable to do so." He said, got down on his knees, and gave me an even closer hug.
He sobbed again, saying, "We would not have celebrated my birthday in a big way, I would have listened to you."
I had never seen him cry or appear so frail, so I felt terrible seeing him this way; fate has really messed up our lives.
I tried to soothe him by running my hands over his hair, but I don't think it still has any effect on him. He turned to face me, got to his feet, and gave me a hug.
He wiped away his tears and added, "We will get through this; I will find a way to this situation."
I'll have to get used to sharing him with her, just like the stories of other Lunas this had happened to; there was no way his wolf would want to turn her down.
Even though I would be prepared to try, I wouldn't allow him to touch me once more as he would only want to do so out of obligation rather than love.
"Hazel, don't give up on me," he begged me, sensing my determination.
I asked him, "How can I when fate has messed up our lives?"
"Unlike other Alphas, Hazel, I won't force you to share. He said, "I'll fight it," and I gave a nod.
Even though I know he meant what he was saying at the time, I still don't believe a word he says.
Later that evening, we headed to the meeting.
Before the conference began, as usual, I was hearing rumors that Liam and Red were destined to be together and that he had torn her dress. When the woman had to leave the garden looking wrecked, there was no way to hide that.
"How are you handling it, Hazel?" Luna Claire of the stone pack inquired, I shook my head.
She found herself in the same situation as Crystal. She shared a home with her husband and his mate. Conrad, her husband, forced Claire to accept his mate even though he knew leaving her would weaken his wolf. As a result, Claire has been extremely erratic and inebriated ever since.
"You just need to be brave Hazel, you don't need to let it get to you, my bed has been cold for a year now and I don't mean anything to Conrad again except for just attending meetings," she continued.
We went to the parking lot after the meeting had ended, where Alpha Gabriel approached us.
"Alpha Liam, leaving so soon? We're not quite done talking about this," he replied, casting a mocking glance at me.
"You can't keep him you know." Liam stiffened at his words.
Liam cautioned him, "Leave my wife out of this," and he chuckled.
However, Liam, she is in the midst of it. We demand respect even if you are the most powerful Alpha in this area; at your party, you defiled my daughter and refused to take her home. He said, "It's incorrect," to which Liam snarled back.
"We just made out, I didn't f**k her," Liam said and Alpha Gabriel gave him a rather strong punch.
"I don't give a damn, Liam; you ripped her dress out of control. You have to do the right thing and come get her from my pack.” He demanded, and Liam refused.
"You think I want this for my daughter, I had plans for her but since it has gotten to this, there is nothing I could do, so come get her from my pack and you three can figure it out from there; next time, I won't ask nicely." Then he turned to leave.
Since Alpha Gabriel has provided me with the clearest possible image of the circumstances, I was unable to speak. I resisted crying as I went numbly to the car.
Even though Liam was attempting to catch my attention, I did not speak to him during the drive.
I immediately went to the bedroom when we got home.
"I really don't know if I will still remain in my bedroom or move to another room in this building," I was thinking.
I kept thinking about Claire's comments, and like her, I knew my bed would soon become frigid.
Liam responded, "Hazel please," and he followed me into the bedroom.
He pleaded, "Please Hazel," and I turned to face him.
"Please, what I really don't know why you are begging me, you humiliated me at your party, you left my side and went to the garden to make out with her." I said to him.
"Liam, just go ahead and complete what you started. You won't get my approval, so don't wait for it. I promise never to comfort you to make you feel better. It isn't okay, in fact! It aches! I'll never be able to get over that; it feels like a betrayal. Not her, not you, nor the other members of the f*****g pack—just me—is the loser in this. Zitel and I." I said as I entered the bathroom to take a shower.
I was paralyzed as I stood beneath it and watched the water flow. I was at a loss for what to do. Where will I go? I was stuck, just like Claire and Crystal. I was his Luna, thus I could not go anyplace without an invitation. I was never going to find love. I was unable to move.
I sobbed while sitting in the water.
I was broken, therefore it wasn't easy for me to take all of this and accept my fate. It was just too much.
After three weeks, I saw Liam struggle with the bond; he never went to retrieve her from her pack. To no avail, Alpha Gabriel dispatched harsh envoys; I understood he was attempting to convince me of something, and I was grateful for that.
We had a few s****l encounters, but it was different. There was no wolf in it, nor his heart. Until now, I had never felt so hopeless in my life.
Alpha Gabriel has decided to go to war concerning the issue and there was nothing anyone could do about it because everyone in the pack was in support of Liam being with Red his fated mate.
I informed him, forcing myself out of the room before him, "I will move my things out of the master's bedroom tomorrow morning."
"No," he responded.
He glanced at me and said, "We will stay together; Red is determined to come here, so she will sleep in the other room."
"I promise you Hazel, I will not have anything to do with her when she arrives," he uttered hollow words and I nodded before heading to the bedroom.
Knowing that my life will be changed in the morning caused me to toss and turn for the majority of the night.
