CHAPTER4

***Hazel*** Morning came, and Red arrived. As they transported her belongings into our house, people gawked. They grudgingly shifted her belongings to the guest room when I indicated it to them. They seemed to think she shouldn't be there. When they had finished setting up her room, the individuals she came with departed. I resolved not to talk to her and to leave the house whenever she felt ready to talk. "Luna Hazel, I apologize for whatever inconvenience this has caused you. Although we didn't want it to happen, it did. If rejection had been a choice, we would have chosen it, but an influential Alpha Liam would want to be weak neither do I. She vowed, "I swear, I won't try to take your place," and I have no doubt that she realized it was only a matter of time. I lied and muttered, "Thank you," as I left the house. I felt like she had said nothing meaningful and that it was already suffocating. I was out until the wee hours. I heard their voices emanating from Red's room when I got home, which is how I knew Liam had returned. I didn't want to care about the argument they were having. I moved to the master bedroom to take a shower. After a week, Liam continued to treat Red like a ghost in the house. I started to feel bad for her. He was clearly making an attempt to avoid her; she had previously made multiple requests for rejection, which I know she never intended. Her main goal in doing this was to see how he would respond. How long would he hold out for her, I wondered. A severe pain in my chest awoke me. I was confused, but the agony quickly brought me back to reality. I don't need to hazard a guess as to where Liam was he wasn't by my side. It was not the same anguish; it was depleting and unbearably agonizing, and it ended suddenly. Though relieved that everything had stopped, I had no idea what had happened and still wasn't able to get back to sleep. Tears of terror, betrayal, and grief poured down my cheeks, and I realized that everything in my life had changed. I finally fell asleep in the wee hours of the morning, waking up around midday. Since the sun was up, I was unable to go for my usual early morning jog and instead decided to take a shower. I walked out of the room to get something to eat in the kitchen, but as I was leaving, Red came in and hit me, dropping the cookies I was holding. She apologized right away and bent over to pick them up before I could, then she turned to face me so I could see Liam's mark on her neck. It explained why the pain had stopped so suddenly as Claire had told me. I instantly started laughing after taking my cookie from Red's hands, and I nodded when I saw Liam at the door. I said, "Congratulations," as I passed him while holding my cookie. Liam cried out, "Hazel, Hazel," I stopped and turned to face him. "Please, Hazel, nothing has changed. When he said, "You are still Luna," I chuckled. I would not allow Liam to take advantage of me in any manner. I told him, "No Liam, I am not the only Luna anymore," and he scowled at me, obviously not understanding. I won't go into detail right now. Since it's come to this and I won't be experiencing any discomfort once more if he's with her, I will take advantage of the opportunity when it arises. It was time to get my existence planned. It was time to look for a place where I could relocate and do whatever I wanted, as long as it could be done quickly. Red didn't seem like a nice woman and I don't want to find out. After a month, things between Liam and I deteriorated. He stopped spending time with me and appeared to have moved out of our bedroom. It upset me even though I knew it was all coming. He told me to mind the pack and brought her along to events he was invited to. It would only take a little longer, I kept telling myself, because I was working on my departure. His mark would frequently lay on my neck, and I would find myself wanting to wipe it off. I constantly covered the spot because I detested seeing it so much. My tears had dried up. Red wasn't given the moniker Luna yet because she hadn't been trained for combat, but some Lunas sympathized with me and others praised her. Thus, if she was to be named Luna, she would have to assume all of my duties, including commanding troops in combat. Her life was too significant, I suppose, for that. Liam interrupted me while I was by myself in the master bedroom, doing nothing. I knew there had been sounds coming from downstairs, but I had no idea he would return so soon; he became furious and began screaming at me. He had never shouted at me like this before. "What is the matter?." He questioned, "Why did you send people to beat up Red?," and I scowled in response. "Answer me!" I shook my head at what he yelled. "I didn't send anyone to beat up Red; why will I even do that?" He lifted his hand to slap me when I inquired, but he stopped and cast a disbelieving glance at his hand. His misted eyes were fixed on mine. He felt embarrassed about what he was going to do. "One of them claimed that you instructed them to beat her up after he was apprehended. Why will you do that? We are fated, and that is not my fault. Hazel, it's not my fault. Could you please simply make things simple for us all?" Tears filled his eyes as he spoke. He sat on the room's chair, lowered his head, and started to cry. His statement that it wasn't his fault that he had found his mate wounded me more than the charge. I took a seat and gave him a numb look. I said, "I've made it easy, Liam." "When was the last time you spoke tenderly to me? When was the last event or gathering we attended as a couple? When was the last time we shared a kiss? Please tell me when all of these things happened last.” I asked him and he looked up at me with swollen eyes. "You stormed into my room and accused me of sending people after your mate, even though we haven't spoken for three weeks. Do you think that's what you think of me not even that you looked into it? He was embarrassed when I inquired. "Anyhow, it wasn't me. I responded, "Someone is attempting to frame me, and you ought to be intelligent enough to see that I wouldn't have planned this because I never fail. Is it the reason you chose to look for a property without informing me? I have heard about all of your pleading requests to the nearby alphas to be granted ownership of a property on their grounds. Did you really believe that I wouldn't find out? He enquired. "I don't give a damn about what you think, and I know Red will appreciate her privacy. When you two are together, she won't have to whimper more than is necessary," I remarked, and he remained silent. "You are Luna of this pack and my wife; you are not permitted to leave this house. I have given all the alphas the order to deny you sanctuary; if they do not, they will have me to contend with.” "You should let me go, Liam because I do not feel the same way anymore." I said and he felt hurt. "I apologize for trusting the jerk, and I will speak with you more when I get back from work. I would like you to come with me to the couple's dinner party tomorrow night. "I want everyone to know that you are still my wife and that you are very loved," he declared. I grinned, knowing that I would still be attending. I got an invitation from Claire, who said she would tell her friends about me. Despite the fact that we are in similar circumstances, our approaches to handling it would differ. After saying, "See you soon," he left the room. I had to take a shower in the evening as I hadn't had one during the day. After I was finished, I went to the room and met Liam. Before going outside, I made sure my lace-fitting nightgown was attractive while getting ready in the restroom. I had switched up my attire to include more daring, s****l looks, and I had also started wearing makeup. He approached me and planted a kiss on my neck. I told Liam, "Don't force it, your heart isn't in it," and he signed while stroking his hair. "You seem so far away. I froze as he kissed his mark once again and murmured, "I want you." When I informed him, "You do not have to touch me because I complained," he sucked his mark. He taunted, "I noticed you changed your wardrobe," and I suppressed my feelings. I informed him, "I didn't do it for you," but he was unresponsive and eventually gave up. He begged me, "Please let us make this work, I really miss you," and I grinned in response. "What do you want to tell me?" I knew there was a reason he was in my room, so I inquired. "Would you mind sitting out the couple's dinner party? I laughed as he added, "I know I asked you to come with me, but Red was hoping she would go." "I do not plan on sitting it out; I got my invite from Claire and the fun is for everyone." When I told him, his expression grew irate. "For that reason, I decided against taking you there; I don't want you hanging around with that slutty person who just makes her husband look bad." Hazel, please don't tell me you intend to walk in her footsteps. I smiled as he stated, "I won't share, I refuse to share." "Yet I have to," I responded, highlighting his idiocy and self-centeredness. I got into my robe and lay down on the bed. I remarked to him, "You do not have to sleep with me as compensation," and slipped beneath the covers. He was locked in place, and I could see him thinking. I gesture toward the door. "Leave my room, Liam," I commanded. He was really hard for me, and I knew that, but I didn't care. "Hazel," he uttered, and I declined. I snapped at him, "Leave now?," and clapped to turn out the lights. On the day of the event, they departed before me. He must have told the drivers not to take me to the venue, because I noticed. Although he didn't want me to go, Crystal had regrettably chosen to leave her pack and pick me up en route to the event. I didn't realize I was this stunning until I donned a backless white dress that flaunted my curves and cleavage. The makeup artist I worked with was quite talented. "Someone is dressed to kill," Luna Crystal said and I grinned back at her. She had driven her husband's limousine to fetch me up. "You are doing a great job with this Red stuff, I must admit. Had she not been the daughter of an alpha, they would have let Liam forget about her." I giggled at her angry-sounding statement. When Luna Crystal and I entered the ball after arriving at the celebration, everyone in the room fell silent. Everybody looked at us in disbelief. Although I heard whispers, I was unaffected by them. Luna Claire approached us, appearing nearly nude; after exchanging hugs, she escorted me to a table occupied by her international visitors. When I presented myself, they were initially perplexed, being aware that Red had been introduced by Liam as his Luna. It was Claire who laughed it off initially. "Oh that's his slut, and this is his wife," she responded. "The time passed slowly, and I wasn't concerned about finding out where Liam and Red were. I blocked him after he repeatedly attempted to connect with me to find out where I was. Someone approached my table as I was in the middle of enjoying myself. He was a dashing green-eyed man with blonde hair who exuded confidence. I gave him a smile because it didn't appear like he was from around here. "Don't you dare, Hazel," Liam's envious voice said to me. "Watch me," I smiled and turned to the stranger. "Hello, I'm Alpha Marvin of the Dark light pack. If you don't mind, I would like to dance with you." He said and I nodded and looked at him bewildered. "What exactly is he doing here?”
