I still had my eyes sealed shut, trembling, as I waited to feel his teeth sink into my neck, but that never happened.
what I did hear was a low chuckle from the wolf, did my predicament bring him joy? I was right, this one was a bigger sadist than Logan.
"So you're the Hogllin that sent my half brother haywire?" it was meant to be a question, but I came out as a statement, was I to answer him, or remain quite?
I did the latter as he brought his face closer, sniffing me. My eyes which had been closed all this time finally opened and I met his gaze, electric blue eyes staring intensely down at me. I gulped softly as I stared back at him with fear etched into my big brown eyes.
"I've heard about your kind, but up until now I thought you were a myth..haha who would have known... apparently you're species are a rare delicacy... very... rare. did you know that?" he said darkly.
I felt I'd go into cardiac arrest as I couldn't stop shaking.
The wolf didn't say anything else, as though he were waiting for a response, shaking my head side to side, I was afraid that one wrong move and I would be wolf chow, boiling in a pot of stew somewhere in his cave or wherever these creatures lived.
The coldness that rose up from within the earth made my shivering worst. Goosebumps began to form on my tender skin.
Giving a low growl, Dakota stepped away from me and I quickly scampered up to me feet, giving us a wide breadth. Running would be point less, so I stayed put. maybe he would adopt Me as a pet, rather than use me for a meal...ugh, what am I even saying?
Dakota stood a couple feets away from me and I watched him cautiously from were I was. Right before my eyes, I watched the wolf get up and stand on its hind legs, i stared in awe as he transformed into a human.
This was the first time I've seen anything like this, all my years in the pig valleys,I don't think I have ever met creature who could taken on a humanoid form. And as much as I'd hate to admit it, never have I ever seen a man as handsome as the one who stood before me...wait..if he was able transform, did that mean logan too could transform? off course, why hadn't I realised sooner that these weren't ordinary wolves, they were Lycans, I've read about them in the libraries. They were the reason my kind went into hiding all those years ago. that would explain his choice of words from earlier, thinking about it brought a chill down my spine.
Dakota was tall and towering over me. Tanned skin and beautiful electric blue eyes that sparkled like sapphire and a scar that ran down the left side of his face, making him that more intimidating,a bed of messy black hairs on his head that cascaded down his back, sharp pointed nose and a well defined jaw line, he looked like a dream.
But that's not all, my eyes drank his appearance until I finally realised that he wasn't wearing a shirt...I quickly looked away with a shy blush on my face..
"hm? never seen a handsome man before?" Dakota's words were bashful and arrogant. he wasn't wrong though, but still, what he said caught me off guard.
when he took a step forward, I would take two steps back, there was no point running anyways so I stood my ground, still not uttering a word as I stared at him with caution..
"relax,I don't eat pigs,...no matter how rare, the meat leaves a bad taste in my mouth..." I didn't know if I should take offence or be grateful for his words.
"...You sure have wandered far away from your herd piggie,I advise you find your way back to your valley, the woods is no place for timid little piggies like yourself" he tried to intimidate me further as he took a large step forward. I hadn't noticed the tree behind me as my back pressed up against it, I was trapped now and he was way too close for comfort... and seriously, piggie? I sure am tired of being called that..
"Makumi.." what in the great Pigs name am I doing?! Where is this courage coming from
"what?.." he looked at me confused as he tilted his head to the side
"my name is Makumi, not piggie" I'm dead for sure, make room in heaven for me Granny sui.
Leaning in closer as Dakota narrowed his gaze on me and I leaned back, just when I thought I was dead,he let out an airy chuckle..
"so fierce...yet so timid, an odd combination if you'd ask me" well nobody asked you! is what I would have loved to say.
"...Go back to your people Makumi,I don't know how you managed to survive this long, but from what I witnessed today I can tell your luck is running out and frankly, I don't believe in luck.." there was no trace of emotion in his words as he stepped back, his tone more serious. My expression did not match the chaos that was on the inside. Finding my composure I wiped my palms off..
"I survived weeks on my own out in the wild, don't tell me what to do and the idea you suggested about me going back to the valley...I can't ever return.."
"Hmm weeks on your own, huh? impressive, now you can die a survivalist, looks like our piggie is an escapee, tsk"
What's up with this guy
"I can survive just fine on my own,I just got mixed up with the wrong crowd.." I stated firmly and pouted as I looked away. "Wrong is an understatement, but since you're adamant on the pursue of death, who am I to interfere,I wish you the best of luck" he walked past me preparing to leave
"I thought you didn't believe in luck!!" I yelled and watched him stop to look over his shoulder "I don't,but for your sake,I hope it's no folklore" he continued to walk.
My cheeks puffed up, something i did when I was frustrated. at least he didn't kill me, but how long will this protection last? surely Logan and his back would be waiting for me once I leave this place, I'm certain of it.
As I watched him go, my eyes caught note of the tattoo markings that covered his entire back....I've seen those markings before in the books at the library....an outcast?? outcast were Lycans who had dishonoured their pack and then banished into the woods to roam Alone or either find a pack who would accept them, the latter part being close to impossible to achieve. So just like her, he was also a fugitive.
