CHAPTER FIFTEEN Mia drove in Shilah’s old pick-up, past trees and more trees, trailer parks scattered among them, until they gave way to a town, and near the lake, larger and larger mansions. She tailed the Mercedes as she’d been taught in the academy, giving a good space cushion so as not to alert the driver. Thankfully, there were many other cars on the road, and by the time she drove into the nicer part of town, it was almost fully dark. The Mercedes stopped at a light, and she pulled up, a car behind him. The windows were slightly tinted, but even so, she could see him, pounding the heel of his hand on the steering wheel to the rhythm of whatever song he was listening to on his radio.
