The week passed by quickly from the Tuesday incident with Cade news spread across campus like wild fire. They did something she hardly expected, they congratulated her apparently Cade in a cast meant he hard bitched up on people. And now Payton and the rest of the gang stand in their room, after the morning classes on Friday the rest of the day was a free day to do anything. Unlike everyone else Payton sat leg crossed on the floor leaning against the bed. Why you’d ask because her friends literally took the expression make yourself at home to heart. Plus she found it comforting to sit on the floor then a crowded bed with three or four people. “So we’ll just hang here like all our free time?” Tina popped the question after a few seconds of silence filled the room. Dahlia shook her head checking her phone once more, she drew her attention to the rest of the group who seemed to be staring at her waiting on an answer. “Of course we won’t I’m just waiting on my mother to task with the new student then we’ll be off.” she explained laying her phone on the bed right beside her. Everyone seemed taken back by the news their friend had just spilled. Ralph lean in closer to Dahlia from where he sat. “We have a new student?” he asked with a huge smile, he wanted a new girl students who at least would be equally attached to him and know nothing of his history? Dahlia shook her head agreeing with him, “Yeah she comes in today.” she checked her phone again but nothing was on the screen, she placed it back on the bed looking at her friends. “It’s a she? Straight she?” Ralph asked more with more excitement then before. “I don’t know Ralph.” Dahlia answered with a shake of her head. “But if—” Ralph was rudely interrupted by the ringing of her phone. “Right on queue.” she brought the phone near her ear immediately answering it. She listened to what her mother said through the phone while shaking her head. “Yeah mom I’ll be there in a second.” then she hang up giving the attention back to her friends who had been listening. “Can we come with?” Keelin asked hoping to get an answer yes, but to push his luck further he smiled brightly. Dahlia got up from her bed placing her phone in her pocket she looked at all of them. “Wait you thought I was leaving you here. Come on welcome committee.” she gestured for them to stand and follow her out the door. The eight of them walked out the dorm exchanging conversation as they walked. Suddenly Ralph brought up the new girl student again. “I wonder how she looks like.” he spoke rather like he was day dreaming about the unknown girl. “I wonder What she is.” Amber commented, that’s all that really mattered to her she already had her golden girl. “Witch for sure!” Everyone looked at Jaan with a confused expression, firstly because he shouted and was too over excited. Secondly because he always guessed witch and nothing else. “Want to bet on it?” Tina dared him with both her eyebrows raised. Payton smacked her head gaining her attention. “No betting what so ever, we don’t even know how she looks like.” she spoke glaring at the two or everyone who was actually ready to bet. Tina snorted crossing her arms in front of her chest. “We can dream.” she murmured glaring back at Payton. Dahlia shook her head, them without realising it they were in front of the headmistress office. She looked at her friends before opening the door. “Okay wait here fools I’ll be back.” with that said she left them standing outside. They all sat on the waiting chairs outside, all but Dixie she sat on Amber’s lap. “What do you think the new kid will be like.” Dixie brought up the topic again as her hand played with Amber’s, intertwining their fingers. Payton shrugged looking at the couple with amusement just like everyone else did. Without thinking she spoke, “Honestly, alive.” Tina smacked her head with an annoyed face as the rest laughed. Payton stuck her tongue out in a childish manner. “Fool..” Tina whispered still staring at her unamused. They hadn’t waited long till the door to the headmistress’ office was opened, Dahlia came out with a girl beside her. She had darkish brown hair, a bit dark tanned skin like Keelin, standing beside Dahlia they were the same height. Her brown eyes piercing through the room. Payton lingered on her a bit longer than anyone but Ralph, she just couldn’t believe it. “Guys this is—” Dahlia was rudely interrupted by Payton shouting out of surprise. “b***h!?” she shouted surprised not believing her eyes. The girl looked at the direction where the voice came from once her eyes landed on Payton a wide smile came across her face. Dahlia glared at Payton but she could care less about. “She has a name, it’s—” and again she was rudely interrupted. Payton embraced the new girl in a tight bear hug, what seemed to surprise everyone else was that the girl hugged her back. No one spoke they just watched they had nothing to say. The two broke off the hug. With a smile pasted on the other girls face she spoke looking at Payton. “Hey Catherine long time no see.” she called her by her first given name, a name she didn’t like at all. Payton playfully shoved her shoulder, “You know that ain’t my name anymore.” she told her looking into her eyes, the same eyes she always fell for. The girl broke eye contact with her ocean blue eyes looking down to the floor she spoke. “Just teasing. I missed you.” she almost whispered the last part. But she was grateful she didn’t when Payton hooked her arm around hers and said. “I missed you so much.” the girls smiled brightly at eachother others. One of Payton’s friends cleared their throat and that friend was Ralph. The girls looked at him still standing by eachother. “You two know each?” he asked. Payton nodded, “Yeah. This is Avery my..” she thought about for a second, bitting down on her nails she got it. “Uh good friend.” she finished looking at her friends, who mostly didn’t believe her. Avery looked at her from the corner of her eyes slightly questioning. “Yeah good friend.” she backed up her point with a bit of sarcasm. Payton nudged her ribs telling her to cut it off. “These are my good friends. Amber, Dixie, Ralph, Jaan, Tina and Keelin.” she introduced them pointing at each on as she mentioned the names apart from Dahlia, they already met. Avery waved her hand at them as she carried a bright smile. “Hey nice to meet you all.” the group of friends returned her hey with smiles. Her attention was brought back to Payton. “So you ain’t human huh.” Payton stated looking at her with a huge smirk. She nodded proving Payton’s point. “I guess. Guess I now know why you were so sexy.” Avery returned the smirk. Payton bit down on her lip knowing what Avery was up to, looking her up and down they locked eyes. “And I why you had such a great body.” it was rather cheesy but she went along with it. Her friends just stood there even more confused as the two flirted, more like grew suffocating s****l tension. Amber took it upon herself, their staring game was a bit too intense. “Wait y’all more than good friends. Did you by any chance—” Avery tore her gaze away from Payton looking at Amber she answered. “Date? Yeah, yeah we did.” “No way!” Ralph shouted not believing her words. The rest their attention went on Payton who was pressing her lips together. “She’s the two years?” Dahlia asked on behalf of the rest. “What do you mean?” Tina questioned Dahlia not sure where the conversation went from ex to two years. Avery too seemed confused they never dated for two years only it was more than that. “She left her high and dry two years ago.” Keelin clarified with a wink to both the ladies. Tina turned to Payton shock all over her face. “Two years without action?” she almost shouted, Payton buried her face in her palms groaning. Avery chuckled, she lightly squeezed Payton’s shoulder gaining her attention. “Damn but are you okay.” she shook her head swiftly. “Like okay okay?” Avery asked with a wink, Payton groaned again. “Can we move and do something else or talk about anything.” she suggested freeing herself from her ex’s grip. Dixie nodded, “Okay. So Avery have you been like dry spell over here? Two years too?” she pointed to Payton as she asked. “No I haven’t for years just a few months.” Avery spoke, some what it kinda hurt Payton. She quickly brought up a new subject not wanting to know anything else. “Where is her room?” she asked Dahlia. “Don’t change the subject!” The friend scolded Payton. “I can and I will.” she hissed, looking back at Dahlia she waited for an answer. “With Amanda.” Dahlia answered, everyone else just groaned or gasped. Amber wasn’t the ideal roommate or friend. Avery giggled looking at all of them, “Is she bad?” she asked. “You could say that.” Tina murmured before they began walking to the dorm. Carrying her things with the help of Payton they left.
