Class

Morning of the next day came by quick, too quick for the rainbow gang. They had to rush to class from the forest, they ended up sleeping in the cave on top of it all they were late for class. Tina, Payton, Jaan and Ralph rushed to class together trying to fix themselves up. Luckily they went to the woods in their uniforms. Payton hesitantly held out her knuckles with a deep inhale she began to knock on the door. She didn’t have to knock twice, the door swung open Mr. Derek stood in front of them in his not so usual teaching attire. He was in sweat pants and an oversized shirt, the four looked at him puzzled so did he. He studied them for a moment then spoke. “You’re under dressed. Go get dressed, we’re having gym.” that when they noticed no one was in class only he was. “Once you are go straight to the field.” he told them as they nodded then left for their rooms. “At least we’re not in trouble!” Ralph spoke with a slight sigh, he didn’t want to get in trouble mostly when the headmistress was your parents friends. Being tardy was a huge crime at Amidst just like skipping. Everyone agreed with a swift head nod, parting ways Tina went with Payton as Jaan went with Ralph to their dorms. Approaching Payton’s room first she turned facing Tina. “I’ll wait for you here.” Payton told Tina gripping on the door knob, with a smile Tina walked on to her room. Opening the door Payton walked in directly heading to their closet. She threw on a pair of shorts that stopped just above the knee and a basketball jersey. When she had finished she stood in front of her room leaning against the door frame waiting on Tina. Lucky for her she didn’t have to wait so long after all. Tina walked up to Payton from the other side of the dorm dressed in a shirt and short, way shorter than Payton’s. “Shall we?” Payton lead the way, walking side by side they out of the dorm. On their way to the field they ran into Ralph and Jaan, like earlier they walked to the fields together. Everyone in their class now came in sight, they all seemed to be rest or catching their breaths. The four exchanged looks to what they were here to do. “So nice of you four to join us!” Mr. Derek spoke welcoming them to the field, they respectfully followed joining the others. “Okay so be in groups of two.” he instructed the students, everyone began choosing a partner. Which wasn’t at all hard for Payton considering all she had to do was hook her arm around Tina’s, Jaan and Ralph did the same as well they weren’t teaming up with others. Mr. Derek looked around his eyes stopped scanning his students when he saw Payton and her group. He furrowed his eyebrows, “You four find other partners!” he shouted gaining their attention. Thinking they would do as he said he watched waiting but what he saw frazzled him. They simply just exchanged partners, Jaan was Payton and Tina with Ralph. Mr. Derek pinched the bridge of his nose frustrated, first they were late and undressed now this. “You know what, Wade go to Payton, your partner goes with Tina. Ralph and Jackson, Jaan and Hayley.” the mentioned names seemed reluctant but they after an intense glare being thrown at all of them they regrouped, Mr. Derek sighed in relief. Mr. Derek clapped his hands gaining his students attention. “So today we’ll try boxing and some combat.” the students simply just looked at their partners thinking of how they could beat them. Everyone had at least a partner of different capabilities. Payton was teamed with Wade who was a vampire, which meant she would have to match his strength. Everyone walked up to cart getting their boxing gloves and head gear. “Sir why do we have to do boxing though, isn’t combat more important in this case?” Wade asked looking over at Mr. Derek. “It is but I want to test your agility, foot work at normal human capabilities.” he explained getting groans from his students. “So no super strength, speed or anything?” one student asked, Mr. Derek happily shook his head yes and again the students groaned. “Let’s get started! Time is of essences.” They all stood in front of their partners. Payton from the corner of her eyes could see Tina with a wide grin, she shook it off facing her partner. “This should be fun.” Payton told Wade. The guy smirked standing his ground. “Just try to keep up okay kid.” he teased, Payton giggled light also standing her ground. She surely would keep up her father and mother taught no weakling. Looking at his students with his chin held high, he studied each one of the pair as they all stood their ground looking at one another. “Defend yourself. The basic defence moves I want you to give it your best without your super abilities okay.” Mr. Derek instructed. Payton and Wade circled eachother bounding off their toes, like a predators waiting to strike at any given moment. The two stared down on one another faint smiles of amusement on their faces. “Now or never girl.” he spoke in a mocking tone trying to anger her. Payton chuckled not daring to say any word, rather she launched a distracting punch aiming for his stomach. While Wade was busy defending his stomach he was fully open, which lead to Payton landing a successful jaw punch. Wade stood looking at the girl as the pain quickly faded. “Okay I think I should be the one to keep up.” he stated trying to throw a punch which Payton successfully dodged. “I told you it would be fun!” Payton partly shouted over her overwhelmed heart filled with the adrenaline rushing through her body. The two were at it again, bounding off their toes waiting for the prefect strike, the one that each one would least expect. Wade swung his fists violently towards Payton, some she successfully ducked while the rest were a successful blow in the stomach or head. It didn’t at all just end there, Payton once she was stable on her feet having a direct aim on his body. She began throwing punches left and right while she took steps forward catching up to his body. Boxing was all different for all the students having the ability to win in a heart beat but at that given moment, having to hold yourself back. Most were not used to using average strength or speed unlike one particular girl. Payton hardly used them even when she trained, sometimes she would forget she wasn’t average but it did help her in the long game. She had the upper foot against Wade, she could tell he wasn’t used to all the average stuff. Swing after swing the students pounced on the other, others fell back groaning while the rest had given up completely resting on the grounds. Even though Wade was not used he put up a fight, they were the only ones standing after seven rounds without being average. Mr. Derek stood in front of them nodding in agreeing as pride filled his face. He turned back to the rest of his tired students with narrowed eyes. “Watch them and place your bets!” everyone chuckled a bit but still obligated. Sitting on the ground their classes watched as the two fought, and the looks in their eyes neither wanted to lose not when they had all these eyes on them.
