Music played through the speakers, how they had all the equipment to Payton was still a mystery.
And the most mysterious thing was how they had all the alcohol plus how the music could play so loud and no teacher came.
Ralph returned with eight bottles of beer in hand everyone got a bottle from him. Their group had just arrived about five minutes about even though the party might have start an hour or hours ago, they didn’t care that much maybe only for the drinks.
Amber playing with Dixie’s finger the drunk while everyone was studying the place or the people. Some looked like they had over tried dressing for a simple school party. Maybe that’s what they felt because everyone was simply dressed in the group but Ralph, he had on extra effort.
The group awkwardly stood there for a few seconds before Amber loudly cleared her throat. “We’ll go make out in the woods now.” Amber announced grabbing Dixie’s hand, they vanished into the crowd.
“So will we!” Keelin and Jaan disappeared next with happy smiles leaving only a crowd of four.
Studying the surrounding Dahlia spotted Hayley with her friends drinking and laughing. An idea came up in her mind, looking back at the remaining three she smiled. “So will I!” before Payton could ask or say something the girl was walking up to Hayley. Whispering something in her ear, they held hands then they two just disappeared.
“And I’ll find someone to hook up with.” Ralph left as well walking to the supposed dance floor, everyone was using. They watched as he slid his arm around a girl, whispering sweet nothings into her ear the girl blush. And just like that they walked off the dance floor hand in hand.
Payton looked over to Tina, “Guess you too?” she asked, for her first party at Amidst her friends didn’t even take ten minutes before they could leave her.
Taking a sip out of her bottle Tina shook her head. “Don’t like hooking up in public places. I’m going to get wasted then I’ll wake up with someone in bed.” with that she patted Payton on the back disappearing into the crowd.
“And then there was one.” someone spoke behind Payton, the voice rang in her head it sounded familiar but all she could not do was put a finger on it. She jerked to the direction the voice came from.
With a bottle in hand Zelda stood in front of Payton with a smile. Payton couldn’t help but look completely surprised, Zelda stood in front of her and she was talking to her.
“What never seen the students body president be a bit rebellious Payton?” Zelda asked taking a sip from her bottle of beer.
Payton shook her head smiling. “No I’m actually surprised you would talk to me, more less remember my name.” she began drinking from her bottle looking at Zelda.
She fake gasped looking offended. “Oh come on why would I not, you made a good first impression and almost every girl says your name at a point. It’s hard to forget you.” Zelda shoved Payton on the shoulder playfully.
Payton rolled her eyes giggling, “What ever you say ma’am.” she saluted Zelda with the bottle in hand, Zelda returned the gesture while giggling.
“Having fun at your first party?” Zelda asked now standing beside Payton both the girls drinking from there bottles.
“You’re telling me more will come, oh gosh.” Payton groaned a little bit too much then she was aiming for. Did she enjoy parties no, not one she was actually forced to come to this one.
Zelda chuckled nudging Payton, “Of course.” she smiled brightly to her direction, a smile which Payton returned.
“So it’s your job to monitor if the new kid is having fun.” she could notice her being a bit too friendly, nothing wrong with that but it did put Payton on edge.
She shrugged lowering the bottle from her lips. “Well yeah but not at the illegal parties, asking as a friend. So?” Payton smiled at the friend, some part of her dance while the other frown it was confusing but it was a good feeling.
She looked down to her bottle, “As you witnessed my friends like left me. I’m having fun with this bottle.” she brought the bottle to her lips drinking from it.
“That I can see. But come with me we’ll have fun together.” Zelda held her hand pulling Payton to where the alcohol was. Grabbing at least six bottles she handed Payton three. “Can’t forget drinks, can we now.” Payton smiled shyly recieving the bottles.
Payton followed Zelda into the woods as they walked further the music faded away. The moonlight shining down on them lighting there way.
Finally coming to a stop the music could no longer be heard and Payton knew nothing of where Zelda had taken her. A log laid in front of them, Zelda walked up to it taking a sit.
“Come join me, I don’t bite.” she patted the place beside her. Her feet blindly obligated while a million thoughts ran in her head. She watched too many movies for her own good, her mind kept playing different death scenes as she sat.
She shook her head throwing the thoughts to the back of her mind. She placed the bottles she carried down.
“You’re mind playing tricks with you?” Zelda asked looking over at Payton with a side smile and her bottle a bit far from her lip.
Payton laughed nervously rubbing her neck. “Yeah...”
“I can help with that.” Zelda held out her hand opening her palm she chanted. “Lux..” a ball of light left her hand open palm floating in mid air, giving light to the place they sat.
Payton looked over Zelda awe written all over her face. Looking at her palm she pouted, “I want to do that.” she tried the chant but said it all wrong and nothing happened.
Zelda broke out laughing, “You said it all wrong and you’re not trained that’s not the way to do it.”
“Teach me then.” Payton left her bottle on the ground, pleading Zelda to teach her a few spells. Zelda shook her head in disagreement. “Some day.” she took a sip from her bottle.
The pout on Payton’s face made her feel a bit guilty, Zelda left her bottle on the ground as well facing Payton. “Okay hold out you’re hand, keep you’re mind calm. Repeat after me.” she waited on Payton to do what she had done.
Payton mimicked looking at Zelda she chanted with her. “Lux...” this time something happened, a faint frazzled light appeared in the palm of her hand. Like it had appeared it quickly disappeared.
Zelda looked shocked no one had ever been quite successful at a first try in a spell, it was simple yeah but she wasn’t a witch.
Payton jumped on her feet in excitement. “I f*****g did magic!” she shouted happily, embracing Zelda in a tight hug the girl kissed her cheek. “You’re a great teacher. I love you so much...”
She stopped talking realising what she said, slowly letting go of Zelda Payton sat down, Zelda was completely frozen either from the peck or words. “I’m sorry for that.” Payton apologize drinking from her bottle.
Zelda nervously laughed getting a hold of her bottle as well she took a huge drink out of it. “I-It’s okay..” she stuttered under her breath.
“I’m a fast learner right.” Payton spoke diverting the conversation to something else, she didn’t want to make it weird. Zelda shyly nodded holding her cheeks the same cheek Payton pecked.
“You’re...” she trailed off once her eyes looked up locking with her ocean blue eyes, with the help of the light they shone bright. Like she had, Payton got lost in her green emerald orbs.
It was either the alcohol for Zelda or she felt what Payton was feeling as well. Both the girls began leaning in closer to each other, Zelda looked from her lips to her eyes once more.
Without any anticipation Zelda pressed her lips on Payton with hunger. Payton kissed her back with the same need and want Zelda had coursing through her. Letting go of the bottle Payton coupled her face bringing her lips further on to hers.
Starks through their bodies and literally Starks were flying, the light ball Zelda had conjured was flickering. Her heart was beat so fast that made her emotions unstable, making her magic unstable.
Zelda pushed herself off Payton landing on her but on the ground a face of disappointment came in her face. Payton couldn’t make out if it was for her or herself.
Her eyes on the ground she couldn’t bring herself to meet Payton’s piercing gaze. She got off the ground without turning back she ran as far as her legs could carry her.
The light ball completely faded leaving Payton in the dark still trying to process what happened. She kissed Zelda, the kiss that Zelda started.
“But she ran away.” Payton whispered to herself, a frown replaced her happy and surprised face. Getting a hold of her beer Payton began drinking from it, anything to get the emotions away.
She felt overwhelmed with sadness, hurt, happiness and confusion. Payton sat on the log alone all night drowning herself in the bottles of beer she had, staring up to the moon she enjoyed her bottles.
