Chapter 3

Series of cameras flashed as the reporters gathered around the team of seafarers from the expedition in the Bermuda Triangle. Hoping for a great news from the survivors of the team. They swarmed trying to reach into the members but the police all covered them up. “Excuse me sir, what really happened?” “How many of you are still alive?” This were just some of the questions that were bombarded to the team. But they never answered. Bill was still in the state of trance and so as the others from the trip. They all gathered on the house of their former Captain who was still missing. Three days after the issue, Ellie came to her best friend’s house to ask the team. She talked to Bill and urged him to speak up in the National News to be aired on the television. “Bill, you need to let them know. Maybe, they can help finding Thal. I heard that the Black Eagle is unscathed.” Black Eagle was the vessel they used for the quest. And Bill just nod, answering her question. “I’ll think about it first. I still mourn for Captain.” “I understand Bill. But this might be the only way. Look, maybe they will get so curious and they will be so eager to study the area and that phenomenon you just encountered. I know it’s like finding a needle on a haystack but this is the last thing we can do.” With this Bill decided to say yes once and for all. They all went to the National News TV for an exclusive interview. “So, Mr. Bill Wilson, the first mate of the Black Eagle ship that headed to the Bermuda Triangle for a special quest is here with us today for this exclusive interview and we are lucky enough for that. So, Bill? What really happened three days ago?” asked the TV anchor. “Well you see, three days ago, at exactly noon, we arrived at the area and the weather was really fine. It was sunny and there were no signs of disruption on the ocean waves. We explored for about 10,559 feet deep on the ocean. We saw sunken ships covered with lichens and sand and the team saw a certain pattern on the structure underneath. So, we called Captain but we saw a blue hole totally consuming the area. Many of my team mates went near that hole in attempt of helping Captain out but we failed. Three of our team mates died due to the debris that was whirled by the water, and some of us are lucky enough to escape untimely death.” Bill was emotional upon telling the whole story to the reporter. “My condolences to all of your team members who died and to your Captain. Now Bill, I heard that the Black Eagle was free from any forms of damage. Now, how was that even possible? I mean if there was a disturbance underneath, then why was the top most part of the ocean never been disturbed?” “I honestly don’t know too. It is really a puzzle to all of us on the expedition team. Like it just happened and the world around was oblivious of that too. I know that it will still remain as a mystery even though science might give us some points but all of the happenings were so sudden and vague.” “I believe that scientists will soon find out. And I am really hoping for that day to come. Thank you so much Mr. Bill Wilson for sharing us this very crucial information.” Bill was heading home and still thinking deep. Reminiscing about what had happened and thinking of his most trusted Captain. He remembered the days when he was terminated from his job on the cruise ship. He lost all hope that time but he came to cross paths with the friendly Captain and that was the day he became a first mate. So many things already happened. So much memories were created together with whole crew that makes up the men of Black Eagle. All the laughter they shared during escapades and the whole team work can never be really exchanged with any gold or treasure. As a streak of light kissed his skin, he remembered the Captain. ‘A ray of hope in every ray of light.’ She would always say that. He looked at the proud blue skies and the sun that shines brightly. “If you ever look up the sky like I do now, will you say your famous line? Will you still see the sun as hope and not a ball of a gaseous star? Captain. Where are you now? Are you alone in a dark unknown? Or are you even safe? I miss you.” He softly mumbled as his eyes begin to water. The wind soon blown mildly touching him as if comforting him in a soothing hug. The trees shook lightly and the green leaves waved and swayed. He inhaled deeply as the oxygen filled his lungs, he was grateful for the universe for making him live that long. Extending his wasted life another day. He stayed up at the old room of the Captain in the deck of the Black Eagle. He memorized almost everything. From the interior to the placement of those things. Until his eyes landed on the safe found in the topmost steel cabinet. He reached for it and placed the code 0134. He typed and his heart started to pound when he heard the tick sound. Meaning, the safe was unlocked. As he opened it, his eyes welled up. All of their pictures together with the beloved captain was intact in the safe. He recognized a necklace made of seashells and stones. That was the one he made when they were at Hawaii. And something caught his attention. An envelope that was addressed to him. He recognized the handwriting and he was hell sure that it was a letter for him written by the captain. Hey Bill! What’s up? You miss me? Sorry, I miss you too hahaha! Joke! If ever you might read this one day, I just want to say that you are amazing man! I mean, since the day we met and until the whole crew was formed. Thanks to you, I learned a lot about life. I wonder if I’m still alive after the last quest. But if ever I die, do take care of the crew. And be the captain of Black Eagle. I want you to own that boat. Go to my cabinet and complete the form about ownership rights of that ship. Pleeeaaassssee. Don’t say no. Sincerely, YOUR COOL CAPTAIN
