Chapter 4

1161 Words
I jolted from pain when I woke up. Where am I? I just remembered the blue hole and light then darkness. I searched all over the area trying to find my crew. But there was no sight of them. Are they all dead? Or I’m the one who died? But I’m alive. I pinched myself for confirmation but I just got hurt. And that means I’m alive. And I am here in the vast ocean water where no sign of life around. I just wish a ship will pass by. And now I remember the bag I strapped in my body. The G-cap rings a bell. I took one and popped it on my mouth. It was tasteless but as soon as I consumed the whole, my body instantly heated up. And I didn’t feel hungry anymore. Thanks to my scientist wannabe best friend named Maxine Ellie Krikova that I am saved. I tried my best to stay afloat and I can do nothing but wait for some vessel to rescue me. Time flew fast and it is now nightfall. But no one crossed the area. I felt worn out. I swam in the ocean trying to find a boat or an island but I saw none. Only vast and empty endless waters. And now, my eyelids seem to drop. And I can’t help it either. As darkness consumed me. I hope I’ll be safe. The rays of sunlight blinded me. And I heard murmurs around me. I felt my body being hauled up. Am I dead now? I tried to open my eyes and at first, my vision was blurry then I saw men surrounding me. But none of them was my crew. So they saved me? “Captain! She’s now awake.” Announced a man in a brown coat. Then all of the men that surrounded me side stepped and I saw a tall man. Tan skinned and muscular. His black orbs starred at me like an eagle with a prying eye as if I am his prey. But I can’t help but stare back at his deep mysterious eyes. I wonder who this man might be. “Hey woman, can you hear me?” he asked. And all I could do was blink. Am I paralyzed? I tried to speak up but my attempts all go waste as no voice ever come out. Seriously? What’s happening? I began to panic. Then he again summoned the man on a brown coat and he then checked on me and pricked my finger. He then let me drink water and I soon began to get well. “Who are you? Are you a slave that jumped off from your masters’ ship?” he asked me again with his voice so low and lethal. I started to speak up. But my voice failed miserably. “N... no. I am not a slave. Never been.” I said in a hoarse voice. “Captain, the girl needs a rest. And she needs to be cured. She has many bruises and cuts and it might cause infection.” I think this man is a doctor here in this… wait. Galleon? Ship? I don’t know. It has sails. I focused back when the doctor tapped me lightly. “Missy, I will cure you. You three! Carry the lady on the lower deck. Faster! She needs medical attention.” He commanded the three that stood nearby. And they all put me in a wooden stretcher and bring me to the lower deck. We came up in a spacious room with almost all sides wooden. “Missy, I’m Jim. The doctor of the whole crew.” He said as he cleansed my wounds and put a clean gauze around it. “You seem to be starving. I’ll send someone here to give you food. I’ll just report to the Captain.” He left after saying those words. Then I searched for my bag. And glad I found it. I looked at the inside and thanks goodness, none of my things were damaged. I was back to the present when a soft knock came to my door and it was Jim again with a tray on his hand. “Here missy. You need to eat. The Captain wants to have a word with you later.” He said as he set me a table. And soon I started to eat up. And it filled my stomach that made me feel better. After I ate, Jim started to clean and hurriedly left. I sighed. What now? Am I going to be interrogated? Oh please spare me. As I exhaled loudly, the door swung open and I saw the tall man earlier. It seems that he is the Captain of this ship. And from his back, tailed Jim. He sat on the chair just in front of the bed I am currently sitting at. “Missy, the Captain will ask you a few questions and you should answer him honestly. He’s not that patient you know.” Spoke Jim and started to jot down something on the parchment paper. “So you are not a slave. Are you perhaps of royal blood?” asked the Captain and I really want to laugh out loud. Oh his idea is ridiculous! s*****y has been long gone and hello 21st century is the time where everyone has freedom. And royal blood? Do I look like an Arab or European girl that he has the slight idea of me being a daughter of a king? Poor him. “Nope. I am not of a royal blood sir. Where are we right now?” I asked. At least I have an idea how far will I travel going back to my home right? “In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and I bet it will be a month travel to reach the nearest land. Now, who are you?” “I am…” I hesitated to give him my identity. But since we are both Captains I guess he just follows the protocols and such. Ok. “I am Thalia Evie Carter. Captain of the Black Eagle, and 23 years old.” “Wait missy? Did we hear you right? Captain of a ship?” asked Jim as if he was so shocked of what I just revealed. Being a female Captain is never a taboo as of now. They all act like I’m an alien. “Yes. And I have been in a quest in the Bermuda Triangle to find the remnant of the ship of the King of the Captains. It will be a great accomplishment for me and my crew since a lot of seafarers tried but all of them failed. Then, while we were around 10,000 feet deep I guess, if I never miscalculated, a blue hole seemed to suck me up and poof! I just found myself in the open waters and the next thing was you rescuing me.” I explained to them all the details. The next thing I knew was, the Captain grabbed me from the bed and I don’t know where will he bring me. Oh lord help me!
