"Have you ever felt attracted to any man or woman before?" Sir Ajax asked me, and I choked on the water I was drinking. Who even asks this casually about someone's interest in the person in front of them? Certainly Sir Ajax. And for some reason Satan didn't like it a bit. Sir Ajax's question about my love interest seemed to have messed with Satan's mood. His lips immediately curled up in a snarl as the fire in his eyes flared dangerously. And I couldn't take my eyes off him. And his stare at me made it even harder for me to answer. He was intently looking at me, gazing at me. As if waiting for me to answer Sir Ajax. "Don't you think that's too personal for me to ask me?" I asked him instead and Sir Ajax laughed at my question, shaking his head. He was making dinner for us and I really wanted to run away from the kitchen now. He made it so effortlessly hard for me to sit now. Especially when Satan kept gazing at me, expecting an answer to a question he didn't even ask. So, Satan was no less than a nosy neighbor. And as soon as the thought occurred to my mind, I couldn't help the chuckle that wanted to escape my mouth. But Satan, being the King of Hell, heard my thoughts even before I could've thought them. His one glare and I stopped laughing. But the smile was still on my face. He doesn't scare me enough to become stoic in front of him. He has an effect on me that can make me rethink my decision. He is powerful in that sense. He is powerful enough to make me sense his powers in one gaze. He is powerful in many ways I am still new to. " Not so personal anymore, little human. I thought friends would discuss their interests with each other." Sir Ajax told me with a chuckle and my eyes turned to look at Satan. How do I tell Sir Ajax that I never had any friends until I met these demons in hell? "Leave her alone, Ajax. If she doesn't wish to tell you, stop asking her questions and troubling her. Is dinner ready?" Satan asked him, and Sir Ajax's eyes narrowed at his Sire. But then I witnessed something I never thought I'd witness in hell. Sir Ajax went against his king's words. "Dinner is getting cooked, Sire. As for troubling her, she is my friend. And I am very sure she'll tell me if I will be crossing any boundaries with her. Or the boundaries of our friendship. Am I wrong, little human?" Sir Ajax asked me and I gulped at his question. Way to get me stuck, Sir. "No. You're not wrong, Sir Ajax. And I didn't have any love interest in anyone ever. I was not too social back on earth." I answered him and a wide smile formed on his face and his eyes immediately fell on Satan, who was already glaring at him. "Have you ever thought about that maybe you never really liked somebody else because you were meant for someone who is way above and mightier than the humans in your mortal realm?" Sir Ajax continued his series of questionnaires. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I looked at him with my face tilted slightly. "I did not. Because that would be utter bullshit," I answered, shaking my head. "And you also thought that the book of chants was nothing but bullshit too." He mocked me and I smiled at his mocking words. How, true. Who knew that book would actually get me summoned into hell? To Satan? "Now, now, that wouldn't be an entire lie, Sir Ajax, but let me assure you that I have no interest in angels or demons." I said with a soft chuckle. And for some reason I kept the species of devil beside. Satan's eyes fell on me, and my cheeks flushed red under his gaze. I got up from the chair and started to put the food into two different trays before serving it. "Very well, little human. I wished to hear nothing more than what you just gave me. Have a happy meal, my human friend. You too, Sire." Sir Ajax said, giving a meaningful glance to Satan. It looked like he was teasing his king. Something that was too bold of him to do. Especially when Satan was in the power to burn his soul. "Is he always like this? Or did you restrict him from consuming blood that made him like this?" I asked Satan when Sir Ajax left me alone with Satan in the kitchen. He raised his eyebrows at me, making me press my lips together as I tried to suppress my chuckle. "I didn't restrict anyone from consuming blood today, human. And Ajax has....... some powers." He said, making me narrow my eyes. "And those powers make him behave like he's high? Like intoxicated?" I asked him, genuinely interested, and he looked at me with a dumb expression, making me take a bite of steaming food and my tongue burned when I swallowed the hot food. My eyes clenched shut in pain and Satan was quick to get up from his chair and fill the glass with water. I gulped it down, trying to ease the burning in my mouth and throat. When I opened my eyes, his face was closer to mine. And his eyes weren't impassive for a change. They had concern swirling in them and for a second I forgot my pain. And then he leaned closer, making my eyes flutter. His finger gently brushed my shoulders. I forgot who he was, where we were. And my eyelashes met the skin as his fingers inched closer to my neck. I forgot how to breathe. I forgot the food was getting cold. I forgot everything when I felt his breath over my skin.
