"Ah, little human, you weren't supposed to fall victim to my species' brutality this early. I feel ashamed of the actions of my species. How are you feeling, though? The doctors weren't experienced. You were their first patient." Sir Ajax said when I walked into the kitchen to feed my stomach.
I looked at my friend. Yeah, that's what he was to me now. My friend. A friend who always fed me what I liked. He had made a list of what I like and what I don't. And Sir Ajax always made sure to cook dishes I liked. A friend he was.
"I am fine, Sir Ajax. And not every demon is the same, Sir. And I am doing really fine. The doctors did a very good job." I said, sitting down on the chair, keeping my distance from the Satan, who was sitting on the plush chair in the front. The royal chair.
Satan had his eyes on me, the entire time. Even when I sat down on the chair, Satan had his gaze on me. Like he had never seen me before. I clutched my abdomen, where the demon had attacked me, when I sat down.
"What would you like to have today, little human?" Sir Ajax asked me, and I had an entire list ready with me of my favorite dishes. But Satan heard all my thoughts even before I decided to voice them out. So, he answered himself.
"Boiled vegetables with absolutely no amount of spice in them. No oily stuff either. Make some porridge for her for breakfast tomorrow. And maybe she can have some freshly squeezed fruit juice." Satan said, making me look at him with surprise. No species?Only boiled vegetables? What is this? A damn jail?
"I hope you haven't forgotten that you are on a probation period, human. So technically, this is no less than a jail." Satan said, hearing my thoughts, and I turned to glare at him.
"Can you for once stop reading my thoughts? It's basically an invasion of my privacy, Satan." I said to him, looking at him with my narrowed eyes and he scoffed, opening a book before reading it. Just ignoring me like that.
"You lost your privacy the moment you started to think out loud, human. If you really care for your privacy, why don't you learn how to protect it while you are here, hm?" Satan said to me, and I raised my brows at him.
"There's a way to protect my thoughts from you? I can keep my privacy intact from you?" I asked him, and he nodded his head, barely looking up from the book he was reading.
"You can; only if you find a way. If you wish to keep your privacy intact, I suggest you to work on it, human. However, refrain yourself from doing it when you're in danger." He said to me, flipping a page as he kept reading the book written in his language.
"Why?" I asked him, confused. And my question made him look at me. Sir Ajax was keenly looking at us, listening to our conversation. For some reason, Sir Ajax always looked interested in Satan and my conversation. And because of a very valid conversation, his interest seemed in vain for me. There was nothing in between Satan and I that could interest him.
"When that demon was attacking you, I could hear your thoughts and feel your fear. How do you think I knew you were in danger, human? Because of your thoughts. If you want to maintain your privacy, find a way for yourself. And once you do, make sure not to apply it when you are in danger." He suggested to me, and I sucked in a breath, nodding my head.
"And how am I supposed to find out the way, Satan?" I asked him, and he shrugged his shoulders, casting his eyes back to his book, reading it very intently. I wonder what's in the book? What was the book even about?
"That's your way to look out, human. It's said that humans are the most clever creatures on earth. Why don't you use your intelligence, human?" He asked me, flipping another page. Sir Ajax let out a soft chuckle, hearing our conversation, and Satan glared at him, making Sir Ajax swallow in fear. Why is Sir Ajax so scared of Satan? Especially with his one glance?
"Little human, you need to read and research the supernatural powers and human involvement. You need to go through a lot of books and papers. I hope you are understanding what I mean. Research. You need to research." Sir Ajax told me, and I let out a sigh, nodding my head.
"But Sir Ajax, all the books here are written in a language unknown to me. And how do you expect me to research when I won't be able to read any of them?" I asked him, and Satan answered me instead of Sir Ajax.
"You'll get access to all the translated books, human. All you need to do is research. Only if you wish to maintain your privacy." He said to me, making me smile softly at him. I nodded my head, leaning back on the chair.
Sir Ajax brought our food on the table. And much to my disappointment, he had cooked all the food according to Satan's words. The food was bland, not fried, only boiled. But it was food, nonetheless. He was providing me with food, at least. And Sir Ajax had put so much effort into cooking for me. In making me food that could help me get back healthy soon. So I ate it all. With a smile on my face, without any complaints.
And as I was eating, Satan was looking at me, observing me. And for some reason, instead of the impassiveness his eyes usually hold, there was surprise in his eyes. For what? I had no clue. So when I raised my eyebrows at him in question, he shook his head and resumed eating his food. I also decided to let it go.
