CHAPTER 3On our return to New York, the weather was still dry and quite hot. After the dress fitting, we decided to stop and grab lunch before spending the rest of the day sightseeing. Mirabelle had initially suggested a picnic outdoors, but after I pointed to the ring of sweat on the armpit area of her tank top owing to the intense heat, she quickly changed her mind. “We have parks in Texas, ba? We will postpone our picnic until September,” she said as we drove to a local pizzeria. Mirabelle and I had never been to this particular restaurant before, but it came highly recommended by Paul’s sister, Courtney, who had just recently moved to Connecticut after spending almost six years in the city.
