Catherine woke up from her phone ringing. It made her wonder because it is not like the usual way of her waking up. The sun ray's does not hurt her, it is even nowhere to be seen. She quickly picks up her phone, look at the time first with only one eyes, seemingly like she has plans to go back to sleep when the time says quarter to five in the morning. “No wonder.” She mumbles to the wonder why the sun who loves her did not hurt her this morning. “Hello.” She said answering the call without even opening her eyes after closing them right after she found out the time and sighs. “OK I will be right there.” She said waking up properly all at once. Eyes open and sitting up on the bed. She hangs the call and quickly run to her bathroom where she washes her face and teeth, feeling glad because she decided to wash herself up two hours ago before going to after she finishes up the share of her research for the night. She went to her closet and pick random clothes hanger that is well organized. Already paired the blouses and pants and thankfully she has colors that perfectly match her usual black heels that she wears in one swift move after picking up her bag. Catherine is just really a prepared person that made her life easy in this line of work.  She fixed her house last night before taking a bath. Washing the clothes and everything, leaving no space for unorganized thing even her working bag that she prepared last night leaving only her key on the doorstep. She run towards her car, her house being on the first floor just made it her reach her car in no time. Started the engine and drive towards the hospital where the call that woke her up came from. It is about the patient she operated with Dr. Altman yesterday morning. Although she does not see the need of her being called in as she is a cardio and not a neuro where the patient belongs but still, she went as she feels that no one would have called her if she is really not needed to be there. The drive that took only a couple of minutes with her one hand on the wheel and the other holding a comb that is inside the compartment beside the wheels to do her hair while driving made her presentable enough even without make up when she climbed down from her car and greeted by an intern who gave her the details. Briefing her while they are on their way towards the patient. “Any previous medical records?” Catherine said wondering what happened. They did all the test that should be done, not skipping even one because that is the least thing, she could do for this young man who have a long future ahead of him when he came to her. Even though he is reported to have a hit his head, she still made sure to do all the extra test such as ultrasound and MRI aside from a Head CT scan. And nothing came back, everything was clear aside from his head CT that made her open him up yesterday morning. “Still searching.” The intern said that shocked Catherine. “He is still Jan Doe?” Catherine exclaimed towards the intern’s face that scare the hell out of her. The intern nods frightened even though it is not her fault if the police are having a hard time to find out who is this man is. All they know is that he is on his way to somewhere in his truck that have crashed hard enough to throw him out of it which is also a good thing since the truck have exploded leaving nothing in him aside from his clothes that is dripping wet by his own blood. The intern breathes deeply before she spoke up and said “But we found a scar on his chest when we charged him.” That took Catherine’s full attention away from the chart of this Jan Doe patient and look at the intern who is already terrified enough. Even being aware that it was not her fault for knowing earlier. When he came in, he was dressed even though they are wet out of his blood, when they did the ultrasound on his stomach, they just lifted his shirt high enough, just a centimeter below his chest and when they brought him for MRI and CT he is still dressed and to top it all, since nothing came back out of his test aside from the bleeding in his brain. The surgery performed was in his head that he did not need to go in the operating room naked but shaved his head. Leaving this, the fault has fallen into someone, the one who change him into a patient’s gown while she is preparing for the surgery which she started instead of the neuro attending. Catherine sigh before she looked straight towards the intern who is shaking out of fright because of her so she tries to calm her voice a little before she told her to take him up for new set of test but now focusing on his chest and told the intern to notify her as soon as possible when the results come out. The intern nodded to her which she took as a signal and walk towards her office. The privilege of a private hospital is that the attendings have their own offices specially the heads of the departments which where they could do their things without worrying that anyone would enter just like in their intern years and resident’s. So, even without knowing how come they ended up in front of her office instead in front of that man’s room in the ICU it did not bother her because for now, until the results come out, she should prepare herself for anything that it could tell her so she settles herself, putting down her bag beside her table and sits on her seat throwing her head up with her eyes closed.
