“Hey, you guys back! How did it go?” a woman’s voice came as soon as Ryu and his father opened the door of the house they just entered.

“It was good.” The man said as he kisses her cheek while hugging her.

“Did it dear?” the woman said.

“It did. Nothing is new aside from meeting a new doctor.” Ryu said with a little sadness in his voice.

“Oh, my dear.” The woman said as she takes him to her thin arms, hug him and shower him with kisses.

Back to Catherine

“I hope you will be settling good enough for you not to go back to japan.” Her boss said, the chief of the hospital who seems so very happy to have her in his hospital.

“I am hoping too.” Catherine replied.

Her boss smiled before he said “How is your brother and his family?”

“They are good, Richard was here not too long ago because Ryu have his first appointment.” Catherine said with a smile on her face.

Her boss looks at her before he puts his hand on her back and give it a light pat before he chuckles and said “I still can see how worry wart he is.”

“He is indeed but still being a doctor myself I also prefer to be it this way. Having a regular checkup Is not really wrong or could do any wrong. You know with the things we see every day in our work you would be worried because there are a lot of things that today is not there but tomorrow it would pop out.” Catherine said in somehow joking tone.

“I understand and I am just really glad that you accepted my offer to work here and I feel so lucky to get a yes from your brother when I asked him.” Her boss said.

Catherine chuckles and said “I was so surprised when he told me about your offer, and I think you really should feel lucky because having him another business to be in this city is really like a miracle, it has been years since moved away from here.”

“That is true, but are you feeling ok now?” her boss said.

“I am, everything seems to be going too well actually that I have no worry even just a bit.” Catherine replied to her boss.

“Well then I guess you will just get to enjoy your time here.” Her boss said.

“I guess I could. But I will ask for forgiveness if ever one day I come to you and tell you that I could not settle here.” Catherine said back in a little bit of joking tone.

“I will do my best for that not to happen. I have put a lot of effort in all kinds of way just to have the best two surgeons in biggest world but less people have.” Her boss said to her.

They both chuckle before Catherine said “So who is the other one who took the bait of yours?”

“Henry Altman, do you know him?” her boss said.

“Not really, unless he is on the same field as I am.” Catherine replied.

“You are in different department but you two are so a like. Young but capable of so many things in your own worlds.” Her boss said putting his hands on his pocket.

Catherine looks at the man standing in front of her, talking with him for a while now which surprisingly making her feel so comfortable. A man who would have been in the same age of her father if he is still alive who have been so supportive and loving father and is always on the same page with her mother as long as she could remember before they died in an accident when she was only ten years old and have her brother to be with her all these years until he got married six years ago when she forced him, telling him that she is good and could take care of herself so he could finally get to date the only woman he have ever been interested for a quiet good amount of time already but it shocked her when he agreed and the next day told her that he will be getting married. But still she feels happy for him as she looked at him that night and sees how happy he is and that is how him and Akane who is a Japanese that he met once when he went to the Japan for some business and a year after their marriage Ryu is born.

“Cath? Are you ok?” her boss said that brought her back from the trail of how hers and her brother’s life has gone since their parents are dead.

“Yeah, I am so sorry, it is just that I suddenly miss my father just because I am having this comfortable conversation with you right now.” Catherine said with a smile.

“Well, maybe because I have known you more tha you thought.” Her boss said with a playful smile on his face.

“What do you mean?” Catherine said in curiousness.

“Because I am a friend of your father and mother and that is how I know your brother, you were so young when the last time I went to visit you guys and move away and when I came back here I found out about what happened to your parents and found out that you and your brother decided to live in Japan where you stayed a good amount of time, good enough to make you such a great surgeon which was pretty unexpected for me since I used to hear you say what you wanted when you grow up.” Her boss said that shocked her in so many different ways.

“You knew my parents; you were pretty close enough to be visiting us? How come I could not remember about you visiting when I pretty much remember most of my childhood?” Catherine said in wonder.

“Dear we are talking about you just about learning to walk and talk and a year after that you could walk on your own properly and so talkative with a lot of sense.” Her boss said chuckling.

“Then that is really something I would never be able to remember I guess.” Catherine said and joined him to soundful chuckle.

“I was your father’s friend since we were in high school, we went to the same college as well and well giving us the opportunity to be linked by our field of works.” Her boss added patting her back.

“Well, I guess it was the same way of how you found Richard after all those years.” She said smiling.

“Knock, knock.” Two knocks on her office door came around that interrupted their conversation.

“Who is it?” Catherine said.

“Chief told me to come here.” A man’s voice came from the other side of the door.

“Is that you Henry?” her boss said talking and referring to the man who is on the other side of the door.

“Sir.” The door opened and a face of a familiar man came into view.

“Good thing that you are free before she gets to go home.” Her boss said as he motions the man to enter.

“Cath, this is Henry Altman the other one who took my bait.” Her boss said in joking tone.

“Henry this is Catherine Stevens the one I introduced earlier.” He added introducing us to each other.

“I saw him earlier today, seems a rude one to be in… wait what department is he in?” Catherine said.

“Neuro surgeon.” Her boss said.

“Oh, I thought a psychic.” Catherine said a bit furious.

“What happened?” her boss said in wonder.

“He was just pretty rude while judging me earlier.” Catherine said.

“I am sorry, that might have been really be rude of me. It was a joke and now I get why someone told me in the past that I should not do it again.” The man said apologetically while looking directly into Catherine’s eyes.

“Well, I hope you would stop. By the way, nice meeting you and I guess we will really see each other around, a lot.” Catherine said as she extended her hand which the man took into a shake.

“Henry and I guess we will be.” The man said with a smile after shaking her hand.
