Chapter 6

2059 Words
Alex’s POV I don’t know how many days I have been down here, but I had to find a way out. I was weak and hurting and starving. The food seemed to come less and less lately, but I would not let that stop me. The silver chains around my wrist were stopping me. I heard the door open, and a woman come down the stairs. I didn’t move from the spot I was laying in. I couldn’t I had to conserve any energy I could. “Wakey, wakey,” Tinlee said as she unlocked the cell door and came in. “What do you want?” I spit out as she came in. She didn’t answer me but kicked me in my side. I coughed out and hunched up. She continued to stand over me, not saying anything, but it wasn’t long when I heard men’s footsteps coming down the stairs. Two men came into the room and grabbed me by the arms and literally dragged me up the stairs and into what looked like a living room. They dropped me on the floor, where I continued to lie. I wasn’t going to do anything right now. Maybe this could be my escape. Karly walked into the room but had her head down. The two men who dragged me up here were walking over to her. One grabbed her by the arm and pulled her close to him and he whispered to her and I could see the look of fear on her face. I have a feeling what he was telling her and what he was going to do to her and I had to stop it. I rolled onto my back and tried to launch myself into a sitting position, but was too weak. “Don’t worry, they won’t touch her just yet. She is their prize for helping me, but until it’s done, they can’t have her.” Clarissa said, coming into the room. “What is your plan?” I asked her. “I am going to kill your mother and take my rightful place by your father’s side.” “What? Don’t you have a mate already?” “Don’t worry, I will take care of him when it’s all done.” “You really think that my dad is going to just take you as a mate after you kill his?” “It’s called magic. I will have a spell put on him and then he will love me.” “You are really dumb, you know that.” One of the men who brought me up here came over and punched me in the side of my mouth. “Shut up,” he growled at me. “Give him the wolfsbane and take his cuffs off him,” Clarissa snapped out and went over and sat on the couch by Tinlee. The other guy came over and slammed a needle into my neck. It burned as it made my way through my body. I wouldn’t scream from the pain. I wouldn’t give them that. My body broke out in a sweat and black spots clouded my vision and I welcomed it. I woke sometime later to everyone screaming at each other, but my arms were free. I stayed as still as possible, wanting them to think I was still out of it. Before I could grasp what was going on, a door bust open and wolves came in, growling and snapping. When I looked up, I knew who it was immediately. Three large wolves known as my dads and brother and then my mother in her human form came in. They pounced on the two men in the room. While my mom focused on Clarissa. I could see her wolf, Stella pushed forward. “Did you really think you could get away with it?” My mom yelled at Clarissa. “I have told you this already. He was never yours.” “Really, it’s been twenty years. Give it up already. He never loved you and never will.” “He will as soon as you are out of the way.” She yelled out and as soon as she did, more wolves came out of rooms. I couldn’t see what was going on. I was waiting for the right time to get up. I had one goal in this and it was Tinlee. She wasn’t in the room. I don’t know where she was hiding, but I knew she was. There were wolves outside fighting as well, but from what I could see, my family had them outnumbered and had the upper hand. My mom and Clarissa were having a staring contest or my mom was using some power on her. “This ends now,” my mom yelled at Clarissa and you could see her emit a light out of her and Clarissa’s head went flying off and her body crumpled to the ground. My mom turned and went to help in the fight. It didn’t take long for them to get it stopped and they gathered any wolves and placed them in cuffs. My mom came back into the room while everyone else was taking care of things outside. “Alex, you're OK. I am going to help you.” “Mom, I am fine. Save your energy.” “Ya Sophia, save your energy,” Tinlee said as she came out of a hallway, pointing a gun at my mom. “Tinlee, what are you doing?” I asked her as I tried to stand up, but I could feel how weak I was. “I am doing what I told my mom I would do. I will kill her.” “Tinlee, stop this. Your mother is dead. It’s over. Put the gun down.” I told her as I stood in front of my mom, but she didn’t listen and I could see her slip her finger on the trigger. I lunged at her as she pulled the trigger. My shoulder jerked back, but I didn’t let that stop me from doing this. I landed on top of her and wrapped my hands around her neck, running on pure adrenaline right now. “Alex, baby, don’t do this. I love you,” she linked me as her face turned red from lack of oxygen. I didn’t answer her back and continued to squeeze her neck and watched as her lips turned blue and life drain out of her face, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted her blood on my hands and I wanted to know that she was dead. I released my claws and plunged them into her heart and ripped it out and dropped in on the floor before I collapsed on top of her. “Find Carly and save her,” I told them before I screamed and blacked out. I woke up some time later in the back of an SUV. I had my mom on one side of me and my dad on the other. “Alex, just relax. I am healing you, and we are getting you to the hospital. You are going to be fine.” My mom said. My dad just had pity in his eyes and I didn’t want to see that, so I just closed my eyes again. I could feel my body healing and it felt nice. I wasn’t in as much pain as I was before. I must have fallen asleep in the car because the next time I woke up I was in a hospital bed and Kane, my brother, was sitting in a chair in the corner staring at me. “What are you doing?” I asked him. “I told mom and dad to go home and I would watch you while they did.” “Did you find Karly?” “Yes, she is in a room here somewhere. Why did we need to save her?” “Because she saved me.” “She won’t talk to anyone. So won’t tell us what happened.” “I don’t need a babysitter. In fact, I need to get out of here.” I told him as I got up off the bed. “Just lay your ass back down. You need to rest.” “No, I need the f**k out of here.” “Come on,” he said, handing me some sweats and a t-shirt. “Thanks man.” I slipped the clothes on. I was exhausted and my body hurt, but it was the best I felt in I don’t know how long. He walked me to the pack house, and he had to help me up the stairs. When I got to my room, I stopped as I had my hand on the doorknob. I couldn’t go in there. This was the room that I thought I had loved my mate in. My mate betrayed me and I killed her. It hit me all at once and for the first time since it happened, I could feel it. I turned and went to another room and opened the door and walked in with Kane on my heels. “You can go,” I growled at him. “No can do, brother. I’m not leaving you. Now go to sleep.” I just ignored him because as much as I didn’t want him here, I did. He made it so I didn’t feel so alone and he knew that. I walked into the bedroom and fell into the bed. “Titan, you there?” I linked my wolf and was met with silence. I knew he was there. I could feel him, but I knew he was mad at me for everything that happened, but he would come around, eventually. “Hey man, you want some food?” Kane asked, opening the bedroom door. I just ignored him and rolled over. I could hear him let out a sigh and walk out of the room. The next time I woke up, the sun was rising, and I was feeling even better. I got out of bed and headed to the shower. When I stepped under the water, I let out a groan due to how good the water felt on my body. I grabbed my soap and lathered it up and when I ran my hands over my body, I could feel the scars from what they did. When I came to my chest, I could still feel what she had carved into me. It just angered me all over again. I finished washing and got out. I wiped the steam from the mirror and looked at myself. Weak, that’s what my chest said now. She and I had talked many times in the beginning about how my biggest fear was being a weak alpha, or that people would think I was weak. Now I wore the brand across me and her actions proved it to be true. I allowed my mate to drug me and have me beaten and carved the one thing I never wanted to be into me. I was going to prove them all wrong. I wouldn’t be weak. I would become the most feared Alpha. I walked out of the bathroom, got dressed, and headed to the pack hospital. I wanted to see Karly and make sure she was ok. I ignored anyone that tried to approach me on the way there. Once there, I asked a nurse what room she was in and once I had my answer, I walked straight there and knocked on her door. I waited for her to say come in and once she did, I walked in. She instantly put her head down and wouldn’t look at me. “Karly, you are safe here. You can talk to me.” “You have to find her?” She finally said, looking up at me with tears in her eyes. “Who Karly?” “My mom. They had her somewhere else. I don’t know where.” “OK, what pack are you from?” “Yellow Moon.” “OK, tell me everything and I will do what I can to find your mom.” She sat there recounting everything that happened from the moment she was taken to when we were rescued.
