4 - The King

2565 Words
It has been 3 weeks since classes started and things have been hectic between studying and classes. A few of Ri’s pack members tried to bully her a couple of times when they thought that she was alone. We did put in complaints against them since other Elite students saw it. I kept it quiet since Ri asked me not to do anything but when another saw this, they acted accordingly regarding the rules. I couldn’t stop it and it is week 4 is starting today. We will see if things will calm down for her regarding her pack. I don't know why they want to bully someone. It seems like most pack functions this way, which I don’t get. For me, a pack should accept you as you are. I know the pack is as strong as its weakest member but don’t make that member even weaker by bullying them. Make them strong by helping them, rather than breaking them down. Most people don’t grow from negativity. “Oh no!” I heard Ri shouts from her room and I pop my head back from my work. “What’s up?” I asked while walking over to her room. I stopped in her doorway, looking at her, who has her hands in her hair. She is freaking out about something. “The King is on his way. He will be here tonight and Cass asked me to meet her at Eliot’s place,” she is struggling to breathe normally. “Okay, with me,” I took hold of her hands and started breathing calmly for her to calm down. She followed my example and nodded as she started to feel better. “Should I join you today?” I asked gently and a bit concerned. She nodded yes. “Please do. I have never met the king before,” she admitted and I smiled at her. “Okay, I will go with you,” I hug her and she is showing that she feels better. I am sure the time went slowly for Ri as we got work done during the time we heard the king was coming and when he would be here. “Come on, Ri. It is time to go,” I find her in her room closing her books before standing up and grabbing her jacket with her bands on. “Okay, we got this,” she took a deep breath as we walked down the stairs to make sure everything was locked. I checked the back door as she did the front door. We nodded, took hands and I teleported us to Eliot’s house since I was there once before and now she will know where to teleport to next time. We appeared at the fence gate of the house and saw the SUV. It is a Jeep brand. Don’t ask me about the model, I don’t care about those details much if it is not a mustang. “Come on,” I still have her hand in mine as I open the gate. The gate needs a bit of oil since it has a little squeak in it. I can feel Ri’s heartbeat get faster as we get closer to the door. It must be a big deal for a werewolf to meet their king. Suddenly I smell a pleasant scent as we cross the yard to the door. Strangely, most werewolves have a unique scent but I can still smell they are a werewolf. This scent is different. I can not tell if this scent is a werewolf. It is not human either. The other two scents mixed with this unique one are also unique in a way. One smells like a dragon-wolf and the other a human mixed with something else. Hybrids? With the king? Is the king a hybrid? “Ready?” I looked at Ri and she showed me no with her head. I rang the doorbell. We can hear them inside moving around. I even heard Eliot say that he believes it is the two of us. I can feel Ri shaking as the footsteps from inside get louder. The door opened and Eliot smiled as he saw us. “Come on in, make yourself at home,” he invited us in and I took the lead with Ri. “Aah, the tribrid I have heard so much about,” I hear an unfamiliar voice in the living room on the right. I searched for the voice automatically since I don’t give a damn about ranks. My eyes lock with the eyes of the voice and I can feel something inside me pulling. Like a thread or something from my heart and soul. Strange. I have never felt this happen. The eyes are solid black with a little golden shimmer to them. This werewolf has lost a soulmate or two. Wait, Cassy did tell me that her father has lost 5 soulmates already in his life so far due to diseases or rogue attacks. And for that reason his eyes are black and the doctor believes they won’t ever go back to normal and that he will never again feel the pull of a soulmate. I break eye contact, looking at his face. His hair is reddish-brown, just like Cassy’s colour. The only difference is his hair is short, thick, messy, and starting to grey on the sides. His face is beautiful too with a jawline not too wide or small. His face looks in perfect proportion with everything on it. He has a scar on his left side from his temple to his chin. I can feel his authority but since I don’t care about things like that, it does not affect me. “You are either stupid or brave to look into the eyes of our king,” another male spoke and I turned my eyes to him. He has neatly combed short hair with green eyes. He is a bit shorter than the king. If I should guess, I would say 5.9 ft. The king I would place at 6 ft or 6.1 ft. He is the Dragon-Wolf hybrid. “This one has no loyalty to any pack and yet she doesn’t have a rogue scent with that human one she is emitting from herself,” the other male spoke next. I look at him next. The human mixed with something else. Something I never smelled before. His eyes are grey and his hair is long, tied in a pony. His skin is rare, darker than normal and his body is toned. “What are you mixed with other than being half-human?” I asked and the three of them smiled at my response. I ignored the other’s question. “Gryphon,” he responded proudly and I realized Ri was squeezing my hand very hard. I can ignore that for the time being though. “Impressive, you are using your senses as a supernatural being. Did not think you would do so since you are parading as a human,” the king added with little interest in me. I don’t really care about his attitude toward me but this strange pulling is happening again, almost making me feel sad about his uninterest in me. “Right, we are actually here for Ri,” Cassy jumped in a bit annoyed and the king's eyes moved to her. Ri is trying to hide behind me. “Come on, little one. Let me look at you,” his voice is gentler with her. This strange feeling is being felt again. Letting me feel a bit jealous is nice to her and not me. Stupid feeling. Why do I feel this strange thing? Ri, let go of me slowly and walk forward uneasily. She looked back at me and I nodded at her, hoping it would give her the courage she needed. “Get a blanket ready, Casy dear,” he looked at his daughter and she showed him no and pointed to her own bracelet. He nodded at this and looked at Ri again, picking up her face and taking her hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ear. This makes me angry for some reason. I take in a big breath and try to relax. I am going to ignore this strange thing inside me pulling at my heart and soul. It feels like it is screaming at me to take what is mine. Urg, don’t tell me the king is my soul mate. This will just be terrible. He can not feel the pull since he is numb to it but that would make a lot of sense if that were the case. “I can smell why my daughter thinks you have a wolf,” he added while taking in her scent gently too. Urg, I want to rip his nose off. And naturally, my physical appearance is also more human-like while I smell like a human. I have dark eyes that look blue and strawberry ginger hair. They are straight and normally in a ponytail. My true appearance is violet ice with a silver edge and my hair has a silver streak a few inches above my ears, letting it look like I have silver highlights in my top layer of hair. And my ends are also silver. I don’t know why I look like that when I am not hiding my true nature. Maybe because I have silver claws and teeth in my beast form. The fur as my main in my beast form can become silver spikes too. That is the only part of my beast form that has the silver hair in between my strawberry red coat. “Relax, little one,” he is speaking so gently to her. Causing me to be sad. I take in another deep breath and am now convinced that he is my mate. Everyone took steps back. “Close your eyes and just listen to me,” he added and she did it. “As your Alpha King, I command you to shift,” he said with authority in his voice and suddenly Ri screams in pain. I can see the gryphon mix guy wanted to stop me, but I did not move from my spot. I just kept on watching her. I could hear her bones breaking as she shifted. Every break causes pain to her and with that, she screams every time I hear the bone break. I never experienced this pain on my first shift. I have shifted since I could remember. The last bone snaps into place and before us stand a light brown timber wolf. She is bigger than a real wolf but that is a werewolf thing. She looks at herself and next to me. I smiled at her with an approving nod. She jumped around towards me and the next thing I knew she jumped on me and we both went down to the floor with her on top of me. I laughed at her playfulness and how happy she is. She looked at her tail wagging and she tickled me again. I can not help but laugh. “Little one, shift back on your own now. After this, you will be tired,” the king spoke again and Ri got off me. I got to my feet as she moved back to the center of the circle we created. I watched her again and watched her turn human again. Ri had her clothes on again and she looked at herself. She looked up at the king with tears in her eyes. “Thank You, Alpha King,” she thanked him and he smiled at her lovingly. I want to scratch that face of his. Suddenly a knock on the door draws all of our attention to it. I went to Ri and let her sit on the couch. I can see she is tired now. “Here, drink some water,” I let a water bottle appear from my bracelet. I even opened it for her. “Thanks,” she took it and drank it almost halfway. “What are you doing here, pup?” Eliot sounds defensive at the door. The scent tells me it is the Little Wood Alpha pup, Zeek. I have learned his name during these three weeks. “I heard the king is here. I wanted to pay my respects,” he sounds respectable and I can hear the king growling. “And why should I allow you to see the king when you didn’t even accept your pack mate as one of your own?” I hear the dragon-wolf hybrid speak. Ri had a shiver after that angry voice. Wow, so their voices really affect the other wolves beneath them? This is interesting. Cassy takes the seat next to Ri, rubbing her back. “Tomorrow night we should go for a run with Eliot,” Cassy smiled at her and I could see Ri’s face light up with joy. “Yes, please,” she agreed immediately. I can not hide my smile from her happiness. “Do you think we should celebrate your first shift tonight?” Cassy asked, concerned. “I can give you some of my energy if that will help,” I give a suggestion and Ri frowns at this but nods. I take her hand and Ri gasps as she feels her energy returning. “Wow, Eva. How can you do this?” Ri asked surprised and I winked at her. “I can do a lot of things that you werewolves can’t,” I added and the girls laughed at me. “Fine! I will fight anyone who you choose as the king’s champion to prove my strength!” we heard Zeek suddenly shout. “Do you know of an area we can fight, Michaels?” the king asked and Eliot nodded proudly. “Come on, pups. Follow me,” Eliot also invites us with a gesture. I frowned at this since I am usually involved with the packing business. “Why is the human girl allowed to come with us?” Zeek glared at me and I glared back at him, making him quiver. “I am 28, i***t,” I flick his head as I walk past him, following Eliot to the outside. We went around his house, towards the forest. The academy is now behind us. Yeah, my house is on the other side of the academy. “Wow,” Ri looks around with her new set of eyes as we walk through the forest, following Eliot. “Oh, by the way, Little Wood Alpha pup, the human is not really human. Step lightly around her and don’t tell anyone or there will be a problem with us,” the gryphon mix added while walking. Why will they keep my secret? “Why can’t I tell someone about her?” Zeek asked, his friends following us, listening too. “Because she is useful to us. She has done a few things for us in the past and we would want to keep it that way,” the dragon-wolf added next and I looked at Eliot. I think he can feel me staring at him. He was the only one who asked me to do things human-related in the past. Did he tell his King about it?
