A Wrong Marriage, An Unexpected Baby

Chapter 8

~ Ring Ring Ring ~

That morning when Aurora was finally rushing out of the enormous villa to get inside the luxurious sedan car which was already waiting at the entrance , her phone started to go off inside her bag all of a sudden , causing her to stop on her track .

Quickly she rummaged through her bag to find the phone and only when she checked the screen did her heart sink right away .

Because it was a call from the hospital . The very hospital where her brother was admitted .

Aurora's heart raced as she answered the call from the PG Trinity nursing home . Realising that it was a doctor at the other end of the phone call , a mixture of fear and anxiety washed over her in no time . She knew that her brother's condition must be serious for the doctor to contact her directly .

" Hello , this is Aurora . " She said , trying to suppress her nerves . The doctor's voice sounded calm yet concerned as he introduced himself first . He explained that her brother had taken a turn for the worse during the night and that immediate decisions needed to be made regarding his care . Aurora's mind raced as she absorbed the news . She had always been a pillar of strength for her family , and now she needed to be there for her brother as well , because now it was only him who was left with her in the end .

Despite being pressed for time and already running late for work , she knew she couldn't ignore the call or delay her response any more . Composing herself , Aurora found a quiet spot near the villa's entrance and listened attentively to the doctor's recommendation as he mentioned that a surgery needed to be proceeded with as soon as possible .

" Yes , I understood . I will arrange the money by tomorrow . So you can prepare him for the surgery , doctor . We do not want to delay it any further . " Without thinking much , her reply came fast as she was determined to arrange the money anyway , no matter if she had to ask for money from her friends and take out all her savings until now . But what Aurora feared was whether the amount of money would still be enough ?

Just when the fear started to clatch her heart and mind ever so cruelly with the thoughts of tomorrow , preventing her from realising how late they were getting for their work , the loud sound of the car's honking caused her to flinch for a second . Aurora's eyes moved instinctively towards the lavish car and met the furious eyes of her husband in no time , who was now staring at her through the window of the passenger seat .

Realising that she must hop inside the car right away if she really wanted to reach her office on time , her legs finally moved .

" Lets go . " As soon as Aurora got inside the passenger seat of the car beside her husband , Gabriel ordered his driver just before the wheels finally started to roll down the streets towards the C&B Enterprise at an immense speed .

As Aurora looked out of the tinted window of the car , the outside appeared extremely gloomy , just like her mind right now . Irrespective of the busy hours at that time of the day , Aurora's eyes kept getting stuck someplace far away , from time to time , as everything appeared meaningless in her eyes . The bright daylight which dazzled her eyes a while ago did not seem so bright any longer from inside . And her mind , which kept getting lost in her conversation with the doctor this morning , failed to mind the words which Gabriel said all of a sudden .

" Aurora. Are you even listening ? "

Only when Gabriel asked in a comparatively loud voice , did her mind get back to the very person who was sitting beside her all this time .

Her imposing and powerful husband .

Gabriel's furious glare scanned Aurora for a few seconds just before he finally stated , " Be ready to face the actual trouble . As you are going to be known as Mrs Castellanos in about a few more minutes as soon as we arrive . Your workplace might turn a bit difficult from today on , but bear with it . Believe me , it's for your sake that I am doing this . Do you not want to fight the rumor ? "

Gabriel asked , keeping his eyes as indifferent as always and expected Aurora to be shocked as soon as he mentioned the rumors . But quite unexpectedly , her reaction was completely different than what he had imagined .

Aurora's eyes did not tremble with the word rumor , instead her mind got stuck on something else , as she asked , " For my sake ? Who told you to do that ? I never did . "

Listening to her ungrateful words , Gabriel furrowed his eyebrows with utter frustration . He wanted to say a lot of things in return to make her realise what her reputation would have become due to the disgusting rumors if Gabriel had not been there to take it down in his own way . If he had never interfered and stopped everyone from spreading such groundless rumors inside their workplace , Aurora would have been long thrown out of the company without even considering whether she was innocent or not . After all , her name got entangled with the boss of her department and none of the employees had courage to stand up for her during that time .

Yes , that was what happened a few months back .

Even when Gabriel helped her to get rid of the rumor for the time being , the way he threw the ruthless contract at her clearly declared how much trust he had for Aurora since then . If he used to believe that the rumor was fake , he might never have taken such a step by confining Aurora as the wife of CEO Castellanos , which was going to give wind to fire even more .

Even when Gabriel did fail to consider what would happen to Aurora if everyone found out that she got married to the CEO all of a sudden , Aurora knew it very well . She knew that people were going to strip her of her work skills and capability only to acknowledge her as the gold digger who did not hesitate to climb the stairs of this hierarchical society by using her body like a real adultress .

First their boss , Arthur Chevalier , and now the CEO of C&B Enterprises , Gabriel Castellanos . And both the names were enough to make her seem an extremely power hungry , greedy person , which Aurora was definitely not .

The air inside the car suddenly became tense as Gabriel stared at those eyes which were filled with resentment at that moment .

Unable to give voice to the very words which Gabriel was about to say , he clenched his jaws together and reverted his gaze back on the front as they were about to reach their office .

Soon , the car stopped in front of the forty storey building and Gabriel went down first .

But just when Aurora thought she should get out of the car as well , the door of her side opened even before she could touch it . The proud man who had never once held a door for anyone before was now standing by the door of the passenger seat with his hand stretched towards Aurora quite strangely .

" Lets go , wife . " And just when he uttered those words , Aurora realized her role as she was supposed to be Mrs Aurora Castellanos from now on . So , even when she was quite reluctant to hold the hand , she took it anyway and gently climbed down the car with the help of Gabriel .

" Thank you . "

Though it was quite a normal gesture for her to thank the one who helped her , Aurora's words came out dull as she pretended to be happy while those numerous wounds and pains were kept hidden deep inside her the moment she came out that morning .

Aurora tried to free her hand right away with no intention of lingering onto him any further , but unexpectedly the opposite happened . Gabriel held her hand even tighter than before and intertwined their fingers in a way that it became almost impossible to seperate them .

Aurora's heartbeat fastened as she just could not help but imagine what was going to happen next if they were ever seen entering the building holding hands like that . For a moment she was so scared that she could not turn her eyes away from the sight of their hands which were perfectly fitted together . But soon reality struck as she heard Gabriel saying ,

" The show is about to begin , Aurora . "

Just when he warned her , Gabriel did not waste any more time and walked inside the building along with her right away .

As they both kept walking side by side , people passed by and turned their heads to look at them as if they were seeing a freaking miracle . Gasps soon started to fill in the air but Gabriel cared the least and did not give a thought to what Aurora was going through at that moment . Because he knew that as long as he was by her side , nothing bad could touch her from now on .

But for Aurora , it was already devastating .

Even so , she endured it all once again until it turned into one of her habits .

" What floor ? " Gabriel asked as soon as they entered the elevator .

" Ahh !!! Twelve . " Aurora replied quickly and watched him pressing the buttons of the lift , but what she still could not understand was why he kept holding onto her even now , when there was no one present inside the elevator except for them .

" Could you please let go of my hand now ? " Unable to stay quiet , Aurora finally ended up saying , as his touch on her skin already started to irritate her to the point that she wanted to scream as loudly as possible to let out her frustration .

" No . You will have to get used to it soon . " And just like she had imagined , Gabriel's blunt reply came and made her even more nauseous .

The elevator door stopped at its destined floor and the door opened with a ' ding ' sound , announcing that they had finally arrived on the twelveth floor .

On the opposite side of the wall , was written in bold and huge letters , ' Marketing Department ' where Aurora's office was , as she was working as the team leader of one of their leading projects at that time . Gabriel read the signboard word by word , as if he still could not believe how fast they had arrived and now they had to part their ways . The hand which was holding Aurora in a tight embrace until now , was reluctant to lose its grip . But she had to go , and so did he .

" I will pick you up at five . So , finish your work by then . " Seeing that he had no more reason to hold her back , Gabriel let go of her hand at last . But just when he was about to take the elevator up to the top floor to go to his office , an employee came across Aurora all of a sudden saying ,

" Here you are , Miss Barrett . Mr . Chevalier has been looking for you since he came to the office . He seemed in a bad mood today . Hurry up and meet him in his office . God knows what happened ... " It was only when the female employee was about to say something ridiculous about Aurora , she finally noticed the person who was standing behind Aurora all along .

And it was none other than the CEO of their company .

Of course , she had enough reason to get scared as his presence alone was somewhat intimidating .

But what he said next , caused a sudden chill to run down her spine in ultimate terror as she clearly heard him saying , " Is that so ? Honey , let's go together then . I too need to have a talk with Mr Chevalier . And since you are already meeting him , it is the perfect time to go and greet him right now . "

A wicked smile appeared on Gabriel's face as soon as he finished his words . Though he was smiling , a wild fire had already started to burn inside his heart without anyone's notice .
