Ominous Note

Everlee

The last six weeks have been a whirlwind of learning new information, both about my pack and my husband. Navigating “royal” life while being newly mated is about as stressful as it sounds.

Thank the Goddess for Sophia. My mother-in-law is an angel. She has helped me through every new part of my life as Luna. Right down to giving me advice on how to be a good mate to her son, an Alpha.

Everything has went fairly smooth with the pack so far. They seem to like and accept me, or at least this version of me I’ve given them. I still feel really guilty about lying to them. They deserve to know the danger I put them in. I just pray the Goddess knows what she is doing and I don’t bring the demise of this entire pack, or the remaining Fae. And to think, a couple months ago, I was some insignificant fairy, hiding in the human world, carefree and ignorant. Now I feel as though the world is on my shoulders and I’m not equipped to handle any of this. None of that matters though. Lennox and Black River Pack deserve the very best I can give them, and that’s exactly what I intend to deliver. I just hope I don’t screw it up and get everyone killed. No pressure.

Try as I may I can’t get my mind to concentrate on the ever growing stack of paperwork on my desk. So many phone calls to be made and papers to be signed. And at the top of that pile sits another request for an audience with the Elder Council denied, for a purposefully vague reason.

Everlee is trying her best to mask her frustration and it works for most, but not for me. I can feel it through our bond. She is the picture of perfection on the outside but I feel a storm brewing within. I can’t ask her to hide her secret for much longer. I was thrilled when she decided to tell my mother. Lying to her isn’t one of my strong suits and she has been a great source of comfort for Everlee.

Screw it. No work is going to get done today.

“Everlee, can you come to my office, Love?”

“Is everything ok? I’m working on plans for the spring solstice celebration with your mother.”

Lennox

“Everything is fine, but I need to see you. Please.”

Everlee

“Ok, I’ll be there soon baby.”

Having her near will calm both of our nerves. If she was actually managing to plan a party as distracted as I feel that she is, she is even more amazing than I thought.

I feel her getting closer to me as she walks toward my office. Once she’s close enough for me to smell her scent, all of my senses, as well as my d**k, go on high alert. I meet her at the door and swing it open before she can knock. In an instant I pick her up and cover her mouth in a hungry kiss.

“Just needed to see me, huh?”

“Oh, wouldn’t that just be wonderful?! The Goddess just has to bless him with an awesome mate. Zeke is the best.”

“I have no doubt that his mate is out there. I just hope he finds her soon.”

“I should probably get back to your mom and the Spring solstice plans. Wanna join me?”

“Party planning isn’t really my thing, my mother is much more help on that front. But I will meet you downstairs for lunch in an hour.”

I kiss her nose and we manage to tear ourselves away from our embrace and find our clothing.

Watching her get dressed is almost as enticing as watching her undress, I feel my pants get tighter as I watch the white lace climb her legs and find it’s home hugging her plump ass cheeks.

“Lennox, I can hear and feel everything you think and feel. Remember?”

She quickly pulls her dress over her head and goes for the door.

“Oh, I remember. I’ll see you later, Luna.”

She giggles as she leaves and makes her way back to the ball room.

I sit down at my desk and pick up the top file. Guess I better make these phone calls I’ve been avoiding, starting with the Elders council. They still haven’t returned my last call.

Walking away from Lennox’s office is not easy. Being near him makes getting anything else done impossible as it is, but hearing his thoughts about my body, and what it does to him… oh my Goddess! I’ve got chills just thinking about the things he wants to do to me. How am I supposed to experience that level of satisfaction and just go back to business as usual?

“Back so soon?”

Sophia has a sly grin, like she knows, but she would never say.

“Umm, yep. So have we decided on colors?”

“I think we should go with green and purple, or yellow and blue. Pastels of course, and then we can pick what flowers to plant in the garden based on that, and of course white daisies for filler.”

“I like the yellow and blue, then we can plant Iris and tulips with the daisies. It will be a nice variety.”

“Perfect! Now we need to go over the packs that will be in attendance. There is so much for you to learn in just a months time, I hate to give you homework, but it’s critical that you know the Alpha and Luna of each pack, it’s seen as incredibly rude not to be able to address them when they arrive in pack territory, and we don’t want to draw any more attention to you than necessary, my dear. And Lennox can help you.”

“I will learn every name, I promise. I won’t let you guys down.”

“Oh, sweetie, that’s not possible. I’m only trying to look out for you. You must stop worrying about letting us down, and start gaining confidence in yourself. You are turning out to be exactly the Luna that the Moon Goddess knew Black River needed.”

“Thank you Sophia. I don’t know what I’d do without you. I’d be lost.”

“And without you, my son and therefore my pack would be lost. You’re the real blessing here Everlee. Now I have to get home to Clinton, he wants to see me.”

She smiles and gives me one of those all-knowing, motherly comfort hugs, then leaves the room.

I gather up the folder with the plans in it and head to my office. It’s still odd to say I have an office. It’s even more crazy that I have actual business to take care of from my office.

I drop the folder on my desk and see a sticky note on my calendar. I don’t remember putting that there, maybe Sophia did it. It’s on the date of the spring solstice.

I know your secret miss Everlee Green. And soon, so will they!

The panic I feel must be intense because Lennox is behind me so fast it’s as if he materialized out if nothing.

“What is it my Love? What’s wrong?”

I point at the note and he walks over to read it. The growl that erupted from his chest was not at all like the ones that I’ve heard during our escapades. It’s feral, and violent. His eyes are dark and his brow furrowed so much it no longer looks like my sweet Lennox at all.

I wrap my arms around his waist and sob. Who could possibly know? How could anyone know? And why did they want to out me so bad?
