The Alphas forgotten love

Raylynn The sky reminded me of a raging ocean. swallowing all that I knew in my life. Dark blues and hints of white swirling into black. The clouds thick and dangerous. My tears hadn't stop rolling down my cheeks for 3 days now. I couldn't eat as my mouth felt sealed shut. The little bit i could force in my mouth tasted like cotton and spider webs. My body was weak and I could feel the dark purple circles under my puffy eye's. My body was barely standing. I looked into the Black casket. The silver flowers on the sides and the heavy glass top covered the body of someone so important to me i couldnt imagine my life without them. My mother, her beautiful dark red hair flowed around her body, Stopping just past her knees. It had braids and her favorite hair pins in the dark curls and braids. Her pale face and high cheek bones were flawless. Her long dark eyelashes rested against her cheeks, her lips held a pale pink color. I wished I could say she was only sleeping. That the past 3 days were a nightmare I hadn't woken up from. My mother Shyanne the Luna of Red sand wolf pack in Washington had been murdered. Her body had been found tied to my parents bed and her body ripped in half. My father alpha Finnegan had been accused of the brutal murder. I couldn't stop the council from taking him away. His green eyes begging for me to not fight the concil. My 18 year old self couldnt put anything together. I stood next to my brother Silus His dark eyes and hair covering the brutal feelings trapped in his mind. He would be taking his place as Alpha directly following the funeral of our mother. He stood up straight but I could feel his sadness in his hand on my shoulder. I had heard him in his room crying the last two nights. He was so composed during the days you wouldnt know how bad he was hurting. I found myself thinking back to last week when my mother had told me about my 10 year courtship to the son of my fathers best friend Alpha Luke. My father and Luke had grown up together. Luke's mate just happened to be the daughter of an Alpha and they had met at a ball and their mate bond was one of a kind. I had been told of the mate bond since I was little. The moon goddess would bless you to live happily with one other wolve for the rest of your lifes. I had never met anyone that could take my breath away. Its said you dont know your mate till you 18, but some alphas get a head start and can at least feel sparks as early as 10. I was currently 18 and my father swore that Luke's son was my mate. He made this decision because when I was 4 and Luke's son was 8 he wouldnt let anyone near me. Growling at anyone that wasn't my mother ,father, or siblings. The worse part is I didnt know anything about my Fathers friend. The last time anyone had seen them Silus was 10. After the funeral my brother walked to the front of the pack. "My dearest friends and family what has happened is nothing short of the worse tragedy anyone here has witnessed. I did not want to become your Alpha this way. My families second son Jason, my sister Amy, and our youngest siblings the twins Raylynn and Laney will be opening the pack house for interviews starting this evening. We will be looking for soldiers ready to be personal guards. As for naming my beta, delta and gamma. I will be naming Alex Coldwell as my beta, Daven Griswall as my delta, and Samson Lavic as my gamma. We will be hosting a dinner tonight at the pack house. I understand those with pups needing to go home to get them to bed. Everyone else is welcome to come. No training in the morning. That is all, Thank you." I felt the world collapsing around me. I felt Laneys hand on my shoulder as she erged me to stand. I followed my family through the woods back towards our home. I didn't want to interview anyone. I felt my siblings eyes burning into me as I walked into the house. The walls were covered in pictures of us growing up, other members of our pack and pups held the same love as we did. My mother loved all and took pictures of everything. Silus guided me to the office of the Alpha. He shooed the others away shutting the door behind us. "Raylynn as the Alpha of this pack I hear by revoce your 10 courtship to Ethan Blackwell." I stared at my brother as everything started turning in over drive, my lips that havent moved in 3 days burned. My eyes swelled with crying were dry and I wanted to scream. "You can't! He could be my mate!" Silus crossed his arms. Leaning his wide shoulders against the wall. "We have no idea who this guy is, the only connection to him you even have is the fact dad said he thought this pup could be your mate. You will not be wasting time with a possibility. Besides that Ethan Blackwell died 3 days ago with mother." My brother walked out the door leaving me in the office alone. My body felt numb. If he had been my mate I would have felt the bond break. Reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I hadn't eaten, slept and spent my time crying. Not because of mother but because I lost my mate and just assumed this was because of my mother. I slid down the door crying. I dont know how long I cried but I heard the announcement dinner was ready. I stood up and stared across the room to look at a picture hanging in my dads office, it was of me at 4 and this boy with dark chocolate eyes and Blonde hair. His eyes stared at me lovingly and he held my hand so gently. I grabbed the picture off the wall. This is all I had left of Ethan the love of my life. I wiped my tears and walked to my room. I stood in the shower letting the hot water travel down my body. I suddenly felt hands on my body that weren't mine. I turned to scream but a hand covered my mouth. "Shh my sweet flower, I'm here with you now, but I can't stay. Please grant me the chance to show you my love for you." I stared into Chocolate eyes and felt his soft blonde hair in my hand. I was stunned at the person I found holding me. Those big loving eyes looking into my soul. "Ethan?" His lips covered mine in a feverish manner. His tongue finding it's way into my mouth. His hands were hot working their way down my body. I could feel his need for me brushing my legs before he picked me up and pushed me against the shower wall. My body didn't take time to understand what was happening. I felt a sharp pain before my body erupted into pleasure. I couldn't stop myself from moaning out loud as the speed went faster. I gripped his hair and pushed my lips back against his. The pleasure building in my center was ready to explode and it wasnt long I felt him ready to. I bite down on his neck marking him for ever. I felt his lips on my neck but he simply kissed where his mark should go. I felt him release inside of me. Before everything went black. I woke up laying in my bed. my towel wrapped around my body. A dream, it was simply a dream. My lips felt bruised but theres no way my mate was here. I wanted to cry but my twin busted through my door. "Raylynn! We need to get you ready come on let's go" I felt her drag me to the closet. She ripped my towel from my body and grabbed a skin tight black dress and was rushing towards me.I held up my hands stop her "Wait a second! Laney what is that needed for?" she rolled her eyes. "There is a line out the door ready to interview you to become you personal guard. the rest of us have picked ours. Silus demands that you do too. Now put this on cause after you choose your guard me and you are going to the afterparty." I stared at my sister. "An afterparty for mothers funeral?" she dropped her smile, her eyes held tears she hadn't let fall yet. "Raylynn you know I love mother and father. but if we stay here we will never heal. please come with me to the party. Niklaus is going and I really believe we are mates." Niklaus had been in love with Laney since they first met. However Niklaus was a rare exception to the moon goddess mate bond. Hes mate had died over 3 years ago, and Laney mate had rejected her. Our Father had been thrilled to hear they had admitted feelings for each other, however a second chance mate is always possible. Laney is hoping that Niklaus will be her second chance or her his. I grabbed the dress. i looked at her and sighed grabbing my silky black underwear and bra and a shear skirt to tie over the dress so it would be longer and touch the ground. "Okay I'll go, but you have got to fix my face I look like death." she grinned and went to grab her makeup from her room. The good thing about having a twin is that we look identical. I thought about that dream I had, and couldnt believe how real everything had felt. I got dressed ad Laney ran back into the room. She started applying makeup to my face and soon I couldnt even see the me I had been just an hour prior. we headed to the dance hall and saw Silus dancing proudly with his mate Miranda. Jason stood on the back wall, flirting with all the single she wolves. Amy was dancing in a group of his closest girl friends as all the single males stood drooling after her. Laney had curled my dark red hair and left it loose down my back. Her hair was in a high pony tail just the way Niklaus liked it. Laney stood by my side as I walked towards the line of soldiers standing and waiting on me. Laney looked at me and turned to face me. "Lucky you. Since you don't have a mate you have more than just our pack soldiers." I looked at her.I looked back at the line to realize I didnt know all of them. Not a single face appeared familiar. "What do you mean lucky me?!" She put her hands up in an attempt to say sorry. I see everyone but me had been told in advance about Ethans death. "Well since silus had a mate, and Jason is male, Amy is only here half the year while going to school, and already has a personal guard Rylie, and niklaus became my guard...Silus invited the neighboring packs to also try to be your guard because your mate is dead." My heart tugged. Silus realized it didn't matter what guard I got because I would never leave this pack for a mate unless I choose them. I looked at the line and all the faces started to blur. After an hour of interviewing this makes almost all of them were single and wanting me to choose them as a second chance mate. only one male stood out from the rest. His black hair had blue highlights. His sky blue eyes were seductive but also friendly. He was tall. The same height as Ethan from my dream was. He stood straight up and didn't show any weakness. I looked at him. His eyes met mine and I felt a spark erupt in my heart. I couldn't breathe all a sudden and I felt light headed. Had the moon goddess gave me another mate. He looked at me but judging by the way he stood he wasnt having the same reaction as me. I felt my center start to pool and I was suddenly nervous. what was happening to me. Silus walked up to me and grabbed my shoulder. In a panic that my brother would or could smell my arousal I yelled. "I pick this one!" While pointing at the man I didn't even know his name and chose him as my personal guard. The other males all stamped off and Silus made direct eye contact with the man I chose. His alpha tone came out next, his eyes narrowed and he almost growled. "Who the hell are you? You weren't here an hour ago for registration" The man crossed his arm and bent down to my brother. "My name is William Benton Alpha sir. I was late to registrations I had a prior job to do." My brother started growling and I didn't know what was happening. "Dont lie to me soldier" How in the world could my brother tell if he was lying. The man in front of us never budged just kept his head down. However when my brother grabbed me he growled. It was deep and protective and everyone stared at him. My brother turned back to him his eyebrow raised. "You dare challenge an Alpha. Interesting you're either dedicated to my sister or her second chance mate so which is it." The man tensed as if he didnt want to anwser the question. Had he felt the same sparks I did? "I have left my pack to find peace. My mate loves another. I have no intention of a challenge kill me if you must." My body flung itself in front of him guarding his neck from my brother or anyone else that might hurt him. "No!! I refuse to allow him to die! This is my guard! Silus approve this or I'll leave this pack and never return!" I don't know what came over me, but holding this man felt as good as my dream earlier. He must be my second chance. I heard the low growl of my brother ripple through the crowd as I slowly turned my face towards him. Holding this man close to me as if my small frame would protect him. I faced my brother and looked into his eyes. I was trembling as I looked into dark eyes, his wolf daring to escape, to rip this man from my hands and end this now. I pleaded with him with my eyes. I didn't know if I could handle another person dying right now. My brother stood up straight and looked at me and the man I held to my body. He let out a deep breath. "Fine you think your worthy of protecting my sister. If you truely wish to protect her then tomorrow morning first light we will both fight at the training grounds." I tightened my grip tensing up. My brother reached for me. His hand gently pulling me from this man. "Its not a death match Raylynn, I just want to make sure he can fight properly. If he can't he will leave this pack and never return, and you will stay here." He looked at me as Laney ran up to me. she grabbed my hand. Her mouth inches from my ear. "Let's go, we don't want to cause big brother silus anymore problems. You don't even know this guy, let's go sis." I felt the man in my grip reach up and tap my shoulder, I looked down at him. "Its okay, I can fight and keep up with him. I was taught by an Alpha to fight. you have nothing to worry about." I let go unwillingly staring at him. He stood before my brother bowed his head and dropped to one knee. "I William Benton accept your challenge Alpha. I have one request to your challenge though. should I not make your expectations I wish you to kill me immediately. I have nothing left to live for if not to protect your sister, Princess Raylynn." The room went absolutely quiet. No one outside of our pack had learned of my heritages. My mother had been born of a rare bloodline. She had special abilities that the high council believed I also held. My brother stepped to the man. His eyes wild in disbelief. "If you dont put me on my back soldier I will kill you, but not before you tell me who you really are." William smirked, his eyes holding mischief but also serious. "Im the guard your family especially your sister needs." William stood bowed to my brother and then to me. He smiled at me and I thought I almost saw his mouth move to say mate but it was too quick and he was gone. He left the room and me and Laney headed towards ours. After we left earshot of everyone else Laney grabbed my arm. Her eyes glowing. "Oh my goodness Raylynn what happened! I left for five minutes to grab a drink and I come back to that male nestled into your breast and you standing against Silus! Raylynn did you find your second mate?!" I tried to think straight I was still thinking of the man. "Silus said My mate passed away the same day as mother. My mate was Ethan. but this man it's like touching fire and not being burnt. Its sparks erupting from every pore on my body. I can't stop thinking of him Laney." Her eyes grew wide. she started fanning her face with her hand. "That sounds hot. I feel small sparks when I hold hands with niklaus, but what you just described is like what girls in romance novels say." I was blushing hard and could feel the heat on my face. I looked at my sister and decided who else to tell about my crazy dream today other than her. When I finished telling her she was wide eyed. "So you had a dream of your dead mate and then less than an hour later you have a new male feeling parts of your body that no other male has ever touched?" I suddenly felt horrible. I felt my face drop. she was right my mate hadn't even died less than a week ago and I was holding a new man like he was my mate. Laney saw my face and grabbed my shoulders turning me to her. "Ray no, you cant feel bad for falling in love with a man that is more than likely your second chance. Beside you heard him, his mate loves another. He was probably rejected and left his pack to join a new one. Dad could have accepted his request before everything happened. you cant feel guilty for what the moon goddess is giving you" I smiled. Laney was amazing at cheering me up. I gave her a hug before opening. my door to my room. I undressed and was getting ready to crawl into bed when a soft knock on my window stopped me. I turned to see the same blue eyes from earlier. William was at my window. I opened my window looking at him bewildered. He crawled in looked around , smelling the air and he started walking around smelling my things and even getting onto all fours to smell the floor. "William what are you doing..." William cupped his hands over my mouth. He stared into my eyes with what reminded me of love. "Do you want me Raylynn?" His question too me off guar. I stuttered. "Yes, no...I dont know my mate just died and I'm trying to figure out what to do and you walk in looking like 9 kinds of candy perfectly sculpted into a yummy treat" He stopped me by slamming his body into mine, his hands gripping my back and holding me still. His hand holding my head. He held me like a lover. he pulled back way to soon. "I meant want me as a guard but I have no problem protecting you and having you. I mean youre mine anyways." I felt the blush on my face his fingers grazed my cheeks. "Goddess you're sexy. I cant stay as much as I would love too. I will need my sleep to win tomorrow will you be there?" My mind was blank. I didnt remember anything about Ethan, but William was dangerous and I liked it. "First light at the training grounds" He pushed my hair out of my face. and places a soft kiss on my forehead. "I will see you there. I promise you will always be safe with me."
