Ethan POV:
My stomach felt sick all day. I went through classes like waves in the ocean, crashing one after the other. I kept looking up in hopes that I would see her running in towards me or walking up to me. "Hey Ethan," greeted Alice, I rolled my eyes and ignored her presence. "I'm sorry about the things I said earlier, do you think we could put it behind us?" She asked, I continued to ignore her in hopes that she would leave me alone. Isaac just stood in the corner and watched with a venomous look in his eye. I don't know what his problem was but he definitely has issues. I slammed my locker door and put my ear phones in, blasting some Greenday to block out the noise and the feelings.
I just couldn't do it anymore! I broke into a run and pushed and shoved past so many people. Not noticing their cries or grievances as they fell to the ground. I bolted out the door, not caring about the crowd that had made their way outside to watch in case there was something juicy happening. I felt their disappointment when I shifted and shredded through my clothes mid air. I needed to find my mate!
I had made up my mind. I would choose Selena even if it meant the death of this pack. I sprinted through the woods not knowing where I was going. I could hear my parents screaming at me to return to the pack house through the mindlink. I switched off my mindlink. I didn't care anymore. She was my mate. She is my mate. I continued to run, not knowing where I was going but letting the bond guide me. I had faith that I would find her because I knew deep down that the Moon Goddess had brought us together for a reason.
The sky seemed to darken as I neared the lake house. My parent's lake house. What was she doing here!? The lake was shimmering with the sunlight reflecting over the calm waters like a beautiful oil painting. I wish I had thought about bringing Selena here. I could smell him. The burning flesh. I stood outside the open plan windows and growled loudly.
I watched him, bent over Selena. It looked as if- as if, he was kissing her. I shifted back and ran into the house, kicking down the door in my anger. Selena was asleep, "what do you think you're doing to my mate!?" I growled, my talons were extending and Raze did not look phased, if anything, he looked bored. "Oh look! The rescue pup has arrived," he mocked and I could feel myself seething. "I won't ask again Raze," he smiled at that. "You won't have to, I thought you would remember the lesson in respect that I had taught you before," he mocked me with a smile and I growled as I remembered the pain he inflicted on me.
I didn't care. I would take any kind of pain for Selena. "Really? Would you really take any kind of pain?" He smiled and my heart dropped into my stomach like gold bars in a well, he could read my mind. He sat back, relaxed and sighed as he rested his one leg across the other, enjoying this game he had created. "I would love to see this."
"Under werewolf authority 716, any harm you cause me or my mate is treason and you will be sentenced to death!" My blood was bubbling with anger, all I wanted was to get her away from him. He smirked at me, his hair falling across his eyes playfully, "young pup, you do not know who you are talking to. Werewolf authority doesn't apply in these circumstances because you're in my territory." I grimaced as the air got colder and outside blackened, it was like the sun light completely disappeared. "This is my parents pack, my pack." He smiled broadly at that, "your parents sold me this portion of their land." My stomach dropped at his words, why would they do that? I didn't get time to react because his eyes started to glow red. Selena seemed to open her eyes, her eyes were also red and her red hair looked like fire in the dark. She stood up and walked towards me in her trance like state, "Selena," I tried to reason, call out to her and maybe distract her out of the haze. "Selena, can you hear me? This isn't you!" I shouted, Raze appeared like a shadow behind her, his face was buried in her hair as he breathed her in. "Finish him my love!" I watched as her hair burned brighter and her eyes stared into mine. I sent out a small prayer to the Moon Goddess as I closed my eyes.
