CHAPTER 1

1028 Words
Alora’s POV There’s no such thing as a no-busy day when you are an employee of a multibillionaire company. Not to mention when you are part of top management. I did well in my studies, one of the reasons why I got into Landmasters Group of Corporation, a real estate developer company owned by the most influential people in New York City, the Griffins. Having valued myself as an employee meant a lot as it required me to put in a lot of effort and time. There was a knock and the door opened. Sofia, who was assigned to the front desk, went in. “ Good morning, the chairman asked for your presence in his office, and here are the documents you asked yesterday”. She said politely while handing me the reports. I only got here in the office and there is loads of work to do already and now the chairman is calling. I sighed. “I’ll be there in a minute”. I replied. She smiled and left, gently closing the door. As I arrived at the chairman’s office. I took a deep breath and was about to knock when the door suddenly opened. It was the son of the chairman. The Chief executive officer of the company that happened to be my husband, Felipe Marcellus Griffin. He closed the door and pass through as if he did not see me. Never did he once lay his eyes on me. I stared at his back as he disappeared. As always, he looked mad. I went in and greeted the chairman, who was standing, facing outside the window. He seemed to be in deep thoughts. Did they have an argument? “ Good morning chairman.” I greeted. Alejandro Javier Griffin, founder and chairman of the well-known multibillionaire company that I’ve been working for almost 10 years, turned towards me. I got into his company as a lowly employee at first. I did the best of my ability to execute my job and be of contribution to the company. The chairman heard of me, and having acknowledged my advanced talents and intelligence, he promoted me to an even higher position. Since then, an endless amount of opportunity has been given to me. In return for his gracefulness and kindness, I offered all of my time and efforts helping his family by lending a hand to the company. Being at first an administrative associate, I became a certified accountant for the company. While working, I also pursued studies and now, I am also the private lawyer for the family and business. All are due to my hard work of wanting to live a better life. “Good morning.” He replied as he sat down. “How was the partnership with the marine group going?” He added. “The marine group had already decided to join with us, chairman. They agreed to all the terms we’ve presented yesterday.” I said. He took a deep breath and sighed. “hmm.. really? They seemed to easily agree without having to second-thoughts.” “Who could have not agreed to join such a great business as us”. I smilingly said. “You’re right. You all did very well in making one of the biggest companies join with us.” “It is all thanks to Felipe. He seemed to have a very close relationship with them.” I said. “We are now preparing for the signing of the contract with the group. We will be having the event at our main hotel.” I added. “That is good, have it done right away.” He said. “Yes, chairman.” I left the room and am now heading to the president’s office. While on the way there, I have my thoughts on the Marine group incorporation. They were also a large and well-known company due to their countless successes and unimaginable connections with different influential people. Felipe and the chairman seem to know them very well. I have heard of them, but ever since I got into the company, they never came part with the business of the Griffins, until now. I arrived at the office and was approached by Felipe’s secretary, Mob Greyson. “Mr. Griffin is inside.” He said. “Thank you, Mob.” As I said while knocking on the door. After the third knock, I went in. There I saw Felipe Marcellus Griffin, the second son of the chairman, and who is now the CEO of the Landmasters group of corporations, sitting in his chair across the long table. He happened to be my husband. Well technically, only in papers. As the chairman and I got closer, he trusted me a lot, as I have proved my loyalty to him. As part of a certain family tradition, he could not have Felipe as president when not married. It was a sudden decision to pass on the position to his ideal heir, immediately. And so Felipe was not able to choose whom to marry since he was not seeing anyone for the long time as well. The chairman asked us both to just marry instead, anyway, it would be just for show. He became so mad after hearing the chairman’s suggestion. He thought that I brainwashed his father so I could marry him. He was persistent, but was left with no choice but to agree. Since then, he never talked to me aside from discussions relating to business. Never did he once held his eyes to meet mine. Even if accidentally did, he would immediately look away. He was always cold. When I’m around him, he never acknowledges my presence, acting as if I am not there. I was about to approach him, when I noticed that he was not alone. He was in a deep conversation with someone. And so I walked towards them. As I stood in front of them, the person whom he was talking to noticed my arrival and turned around to face me. But my eyes were only fixed to this man, who never dared to even turn his head to recognize my presence.
